Hatch Show Print is a historic Nashville-based letterpress shop founded in 1879 that creates…read moreiconic, hand-carved posters for musicians and entertainment events. Located inside the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, it operates as a working museum using vintage wood/metal type to create posters for modern artists, preserving 20th-century Southern visual culture. I purchases a few postcards at their pop-up shop and took a look at the shop through their huge glass windows. The also sell online of which I went back for a Johnny Cash poster and a few themed ones that spoke to me. Unfortunately, their 2026 calendar sold out, so maybe next year?

On our second full day in Nashville, we had a tour of Hatch Show Print, a print shop which was…read morefounded in 1879. It's a very famous print shop that prints posters for musicians, sports teams, and everything in between, but we had never heard of it. The print shop is currently located in the same building as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and we discovered the print gift shop the day before, as we walked through the side entrance of the building instead of the main entrance to get to the museum, although we didn't realize at the time the significance and history of the print shop, or that there were tours available. We found out about the tour (and the existence of the print shop) when we went to purchase our tickets for the museum. At the ticket desk, there was a sign with the prices of museum tickets and print shop tours, and the very friendly museum employee asked us if we knew about the print shop, which we didn't. We didn't have time for a tour of the print shop the same day we went to the museum, but fortunately we were able to purchase tickets for the next day. The cost of the tour was $23US, and the tour was about an hour. They tell you about the history of the print shop and the printing technique used (letter press printing, no more than three runs through the press), and then you have the opportunity to "print" your own mini souvenir poster (the first two layers/colors are already done, and you put the poster through the press for the third round, adding the last color). What's really cool is that every year they have a different souvenir poster, so they sort of become collectors' items, and getting a mini poster is worth the cost of the tour. The majority of the tour, where they explain the history of the print shop and the printing technique, and where you print your poster, takes place in a room covered in posters. After the talk, they allow ample time for you to take photos of all the posters. I absolutely loved the tour, and it was one of the highlights of my trip to Nashville. We had never heard of Hatch Show Print, and we were thrilled to discover it. If you go to Nashville, a tour of the print shop is an absolute must. I was connected with music industry professionals and other songwriters at my same level to co-write songs with. Each co-writing group had at least one industry pro, usually a pro songwriter and a pro producer. I left the retreat with four professional quality demos. I got to meet a panel of publishers as well. The food was good. The encouragement level was very high. I had a great experience. I left the retreat energized. Full Circle has an online songwriter community called Song Chasers, which is equally amazing and which I've been part of since around January 2021.

Andrea helped me improve so much on my range, breath control and pitch! As a non-native English speaker, she also showed me how to pronounce words clearly so my English lyrics are more understandable. And Ben is the most all-around musician I've ever seen! He's taught me so much about production and mixing! He has a deep understanding of music in every aspect of it, from how melody/harmony function, to the reasons why the arrangement/production work in a song, to the history/development of many musicians/music genres, etc.You name it! Both Andrea and Ben are patient, knowledgeable, and super supportive. Now that they've moved to Nashville, I hope more people get the chance to learn from them, and I'm sure students like us will help spread the good word! She really knew how to get the best out of me and help open my voice up with confidence and joy. I came into these lessons knowing a thing or two about singing, but she helped me get to a whole other level! Kyle has a lot of technical knowledge and shares it in a way that is absorbable. I learned so many new techniques, like, using vocal resonators, transitioning to my head voice better, and pronouncing words in a different way to get the most out of the song. What I appreciate the most is that she challenged me with complex songs I never thought I could sing, and it felt so fulfilling once I tackled them. With each song, I felt like I was leveling up and feeling so much more confident. Kyle has a discerning taste for music and has a high level of emotional intelligence. All the things you would want in a great vocal/ music teacher! I hope to continue my singing journey with Kyle and Amber Light Voice for a long time!
