I've been studying with Andrea (vocals) and Ben (production) since 2020, back when their studio was in Hollywood, and they are incredible! Andrea helped me improve so much on my range, breath control and pitch! As a non-native English speaker, she also showed me how to pronounce words clearly so my English lyrics are more understandable. And Ben is the most all-around musician I've ever seen! He's taught me so much about production and mixing! He has a deep understanding of music in every aspect of it, from how melody/harmony function, to the reasons why the arrangement/production work in a song, to the history/development of many musicians/music genres, etc.You name it! I started working with Andrea because I was having pain in my throat while singing. With a few lessons and tips, I was turned around - no more tightness and strain. We practiced using songs that I enjoyed but I got the most from songs she suggested, which focused as much on different singing techniques as they did on range. GREAT FOR KIDS AND ADULTS!! My daughter loves to sing and seemed to have natural talent so we thought with being an actor that singing would be great too. They've prepared her for theater auditions as well as just working on various songs to challenge and develop her vocal skills. We've worked with both Andrea and Cait, both are fantastic. I had the HONOR of working with Cait for the last few weeks. I took voice lessons from the sixth grade until college, and hadn't really sung in the last F I F T E E N years! Cait was so patient and kind in every lesson and truly understood where I was coming from and where I wanted to be. In January 2019 I came to AmberLight Studios with zero singing experience. I've always been curious about whether or not I could improve the sound of my singing voice. I scheduled an intro "get to know you" lesson and was matched-up with Kyle. During that lesson I timidly sung a few lines from a pop song while trying my best to ignore how embarrassed I felt about the sound of my own voice. My daughter took lessons with Andrea, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. We had two goals in mind: 1) to hone my daughter's skills when she's belting out songs around the house (which is pretty much a constant thing these days), and 2) to work on the songs she had to sing solo in her school musical theater performances. Back story: I've loved to sing since I was a little sprout. When my friends in elementary school started bands, I was always the designated lead singer/songwriter. In years of Catholic schooling, being coerced into choir was something I didn't mind. I'm a music junkie, but couldn't really play instruments (fun fact: I was in the xylaphone section of my middle school band for a year, and I regularly BUTCHERED our covers of Girls and Smoke on the Water). Singing was always my passion. My mom was kind enough to start me with formal vocal training when I was about 14. She found me a wonderful, super wholesome, family-oriented lady who lived and breathed musical theater. She was a great fit at the time, but once I began college, I felt I had outgrown her. She didn't give me much creative freedom - my repetoire was filled to the brim with Le Mis and Wicked (which I liked, but didn't love). I once asked her if I could cover Hallelujah at one of our recitals, she actually rejected that idea on the grounds of it being inappropriate (due to that one sliiiightly sexual lyric that wasn't even remotely explicit - you all probably know the one). Due to this, I felt it was time to find a more creatively liberal teacher. I put a pin in that idea for several years (as we sadly tend to do with our creative hobbies) and resigned myself to singing karaoke on occasion and in my car. Finally, I called Amber Light Voice Studios, and began lesons with Cait. In short, Cait is my purple-haired muse and I'm so glad to have found her. She's an extremely talented vocalist and an equally awesome teacher - patient, warm, always encouraging and positive (even when I completely screw up), and always down to let me do whatever in terms of songs I want to sing: Flyleaf, Krewella, LP, Regina Spektor, and Marina Diamandis are just a few examples. And I feel that my voice and confidence have improved tremendously (even after a very nasty, months-long bout with terrible asthma that arrived out of nowhere - the timing was awful, but Cait was so supportive and got my voice back in ship-shape). Andrea and Ben are awesome at arranging everything/running the studio, and their new location is top notch - in a lovely house in the heart of Hollywood. To conclude: if you're into singing and seeking quality lessons/vocal improvements, I can't recommend Amber Light Voice Studios enough. It's the best! read more

Fantastic voice studio. I've been taking private lessons here for over two years and have improved drastically in that time. They teach you the techniques you need to master the songs you want to sing and since it's songs you've chosen and want to sing, practice isn't a chore, so of course you end up practicing more often. That extra practice coupled with the new tools and tricks they give you leads to fast significant improvement. They have also recently started offering group classes, I took ear training and it was awesome. Really informative and greatly improved my ear and theory knowledge. I grew up singing in musical theatre and had some vocal training between the ages of 11-16 in that genre. So I know what it means to do full warm ups, to access my breath/ diaphragm /head and other more "formal" practical techniques. I am incredibly grateful for that training. The trouble is, I haven't performed in musical theatre in over 15 years! What I DO do, is perform in bands and write my own music and I never felt like my voice fit the genre or could cut through over the drums or guitars. I would come out of rehearsals feeling a little defeated, like my voice was strained and just didnt know how to make my voice sound like a real rock/pop singer- even though everyone said I had a great voice. I looked around before to find a good vocal studio, but in LA/ Hollywood (without a solid recommendation from someone I trust) I just didn't know who to trust wasn't going to scam me! I decided to buy a Groupon at the end of last year on a whim and LUCKED OUT! I've now been taking lessons weekly with Ben. He quickly evaluated what I could do in our first lesson, he never skips warm ups (cuz that's the foundation) and he's always supportive and helpful. And because of my background, he doesn't take it easy on me and continues to challenge me with songs that test my agility and stamina. He asks what I want to focus on and hones me in on those areas. And he puts his "money where his mouth is" demonstrating the techniques he's asking me to practice. Plus, he's been totally open to - and even encouraging me to - work on my original songs, helping me feel even more confident in my new set. I love this studio and I ADORE my teacher, Cait! I started here almost a year ago and really cant't tell you how much this place has changed me. I have been singing my whole life and really needed a teacher when I moved out to LA last fall. I studied classically and primarily sang musical theater. Words can not express how amazing my experience has been with Amber Light Voice Studios. I started my journey skeptical because I didn't know what to expect. I have spent a lot of time neglecting to learn technique and finding the courage to be an ACTUAL singer. My favorite part about lessons with Andrea is her approach. I have had lessons with a few other teachers and while they were lovely, Andrea offers something unique. She makes tricky sounding songs accessible, by breaking them down into manageable bits, giving you just the right exercise, or just plain showing you that it's not as tricky as you had originally thought. Let me tell you all that one year ago I was SOOOO insecure about my voice and was completely terrified of singing in front of anyone. Prior to my first lesson, I had taken a group class and had been self-practicing for about a year. Until I finally decided that I needed to do this for myself and try out private lessons. From the moment, I called in I just got this super supportive vibe (you know how you just feel welcomed and warm from talking to someone? Yeah, that was exactly it.) They answered all my questions nicely and even asked questions about myself to see which coach I'd match the best with and that's how I was paired with Kyle(WOOOOHOOOO). She could definitely tell that I scared for my life(lol) but she continued to encourage me and give me credit for coming out and complimenting my voice. Every time I was doubting my voice Kyle was there to tell me otherwise and I am just so thankful because even though it took almost a year I was finally able to believe it. Kyle prepared me with a better technique, support and helped me access different parts of my voice. I started coming to singing lessons at Amber Light as a complete beginner. I knew nothing about singing, although I had secretly wished I could sing my whole life.
