I have been going to Evolve Salon and Spa for a long time. I want to quantify that but I find that…read morethe specific number makes me think about time in ways I am not prepared to address in a Yelp review, so I will say many years and we will both understand what that means. Here is what I know. Every four to five weeks, without fail, I have an appointment. It is on the calendar. It is not negotiable. The Evolve appointment is on that calendar. It has never moved. This should tell you something. I came in originally for a haircut. I am a man with straightforward hair and straightforward requirements and I simply needed someone to address the situation on a regular basis. Evolve addressed it. Then they kept addressing it, at a consistent level of quality, across a considerable number of appointments, without a single visit that made me reconsider the arrangement. Do you know how rare that is. Consistency at that level is something most people only discuss in aspirational terms. At some point the appointment stopped being a haircut appointment and became the thing I look forward to that week. I did not plan for this. It happened anyway. I am at peace with it. The pedicures came later. I am tall. My feet exist at a considerable distance from my face and I had, over the years, developed a relationship with them that could be charitably described as out of sight, out of mind. I approached the pedicure conversation with the cautious energy of a person who suspects they are about to reveal something about themselves that a professional will find notable. The staff at Evolve did not find it notable. They explained what the service involved, what they would do and in what order, and what I should expect to feel during each part. They answered my follow-up questions without suggesting, through tone or expression, that the questions were anything other than reasonable. This matters more than people acknowledge in reviews. What followed was a revelation I am still processing. My feet, which had developed characteristics over the years I can only describe as ambitious in the wrong direction, are now soft. Consistently soft. Every visit. I can feel surfaces I was previously unaware I was walking on. I attribute this entirely to Evolve and to staff who explained the process clearly enough that I actually understood what was happening and why. The massages came after that. Deep tissue, for reasons involving the shoulder region and several years of accumulated tension that had established what I can only describe as a permanent residency. I had never had a massage. I said this out loud. The staff responded by explaining exactly what would happen, what they would need from me during it and how to indicate if anything was too much. What they needed from me was to lie down and breathe. I am qualified to do both. I did them. The tension, which I had come to regard as structural, turned out not to be. I am still adjusting to this information. What gets lost in reviews that focus only on services and hours is this: Evolve is consistent. Not just good. Consistent. The haircut I get today is the haircut I got years ago. The pedicure produces the same result every visit. The massage addresses the same problem with the same competence. And every time I have walked in not knowing what to expect from something new, someone has taken the time to explain it until I did. That last part is what keeps the appointment on the calendar. It is not moving.

I drove down from Minot to this salon for a consultation and perm with Tanya in November 2025…read more During the consultation, she made it very clear that she was not going to be able to achieve the "wavy" perm I had requested. She explained that she would need to take off a lot of hair and do a tight perm in order to give it volume and that it would soon fall to a "wavy" texture. Regrettably, I agreed to proceed with the perm. As she was wrapping the hair, I could tell it was very tight, but this was my first perm and I didn't know what to expect. When she got to the front pieces, the hair was pulled so tightly it was starting to make my eyes water. In her defense, I did not let her know that it felt so tight because I assumed that was just the way it had to be. When the process was over and I saw my hair, I was immediately disappointed by the curl pattern, but even more disturbed by the breakage. I have an absurd amount of breakage at the scalp, especially my bangs, which is shown in the photos. There is more breakage throughout the head but the front pieces are the most embarrassing for me as they are difficult to hide. Breakage has continued to worsen with time since the perm and I'm using Olaplex to try to prevent it from leaving a huge bald patch. Full transparency - I have not reached out to the salon about my experience as I frankly don't want them touching my hair again. I feel bad leaving a negative review but I feel like people should know! Please reconsider before getting a perm here! Pictured are my results the day of the perm, breakage after ~3 weeks, breakage after 6 weeks, and my hair a few days BEFORE the perm for reference
