Overall pleased with the outcome though it is pricey. I made a last minute appointment here and I'm grateful that this place had availability. The location is perfect and super convenient if you're already in Center City. I was able to find parking pretty close and then proceeded inside the building for my appointment. Inside, it's pretty spacious with a full bar with some drinks on tap up front. After I checked in, they offered me some drinks and then once my stylist opened up, she took me to the chair to discuss cut options. I thought she did a great job. I got shampoo, towel, cut, and some drinks all within 30 minutes or so. My stylist understood what I was looking to get done and she did a great job in achieving a stylish cut in the end. I think I'll come here every now and again but it is pricey - I paid upwards of $45 for the cut (I'm used to that $15 cut), so not sure I can make it my regular place, but definitely enjoyed the experience. read more

I started to grow my hair out for the first time. I have extremely thick Greek hair with amazing curls. They have 30min appointments and the stylist didn't start cutting until 7/30 minutes. I tell her that I want to keep my long curls and to even up the length. She proceeded to shave everything but the top leaving me with an uneven haircut. Additionally, she intentionally gave me a white supremacy haircut: look up Richard Spencer for context. She refused to even up my beard and to schedule it next time for an additional $12. A $45 should cover getting a beard evened out and it takes 1min to do. So she cut into my time, botched my haircut, and denied me a basic portion of a haircut. I am deeply saddened that I watched 4months of growth disappear for a haircut that doesn't match my face. I do not recommend this place. The place value on profit over customer services. Don't waste your time here if you are looking for a quality experience. read more

I got cut my Minh payed $60 for "consultation" showed her a picture but when I asked what she thought and tried to explain the differences I wanted and that I wasn't sure if it was a good style with my type of hair she got irritated and cut me off and started the haircut. Why have a consultation option just to ignore what I say, worst experience. Grew my hair out for a few months tried to switch up from a barber to a salon so I can get a more detailed cut and ended up walking out with the worst haircut of my life for double what I normally pay. read more

Probably one of the worst barbers I ever went, you think a $45 dollar plus $10 tip you'll get at least a decent haircut. I didn't mine paying the price but I expected a professional or even anyone that actually cares about given someone a cut. All attitude. She then just decided to cut my hair how she felt. The hair wash was a joke and I went after and had a friend REBLEND my hair because she completed hacked the cut. never going back. I needed a quick clean up on my eyebrows. I made an appointment online, and the price was fairly reasonable. I was the first one there as my appointment coincided with their opening. Despite arriving on time, there was no one inside. In their defense, it was an icy, cold morning. In my defense, it was not cool to stand outside. *I waited in old nelsons next door. It was quick once I was inside and the stylist was very nice and talkative. I would return for a small job and have no opinion of their haircuts. One thing that would have made the experience a bit better would have been a prepped coffee machine as it was morning. The lounge area is small, but it is comfortable. Be very careful who you get your hair cut by here. I have had a decent cut here and I have had a crap cut here. When it's bad, it's bad. My last stylist was friendly, but just peppered me with inane questions unrelated to my hair, meanwhile she did not follow my very basic request for keeping length on top. I eventually said something, but it was already way too short. She shrugged it off and made a dumb joke about not telling my wife who cut my hair if she doesn't like it. Well, my wife hated it. I just had the city's best haircut at I'm Sergio! I may have lucked out because two other places were overbooked, whereas this location took me as a walk-in without a wait. Amanda was my stylist. She was extremely knowledgeable, creative and talented. I haven't had a better look in a long time. I like that they handed me a rolling rock draft on the way in, which allowed me to just relax and cool off after biking to the shop's nearby indegogo station at 17th-18th & JFK. I'm sure there are other great hairstylists to be found in the area if you are willing to go to some rigmarole to get an appointment, but for the price I paid ($38) and the value I received, I'm Sergio will be my go-to favorite from now on. read more

What could be bad......friendly, attractive, competent hair stylists in a warm and inviting setting, with T.V.'s, and free beer. Stephanie is easy to talk to and makes sure that your hair looks exactly the way you wanted it to. She takes pride in her work and it really shows. I never have to wait long to get into the chair and I am always satisfied when I leave. They also offer free "clean-up" visits a few weeks after your cut. My regular barber shop closed during Covid and hasn't reopened. Years ago I used to get a $60 cut, my hair just doesn't need that; my last place was $25, which should be plenty for my hair, and you got a massage. Now I'm paying more, $38, plus tips, but also getting a real cut, vs. just clippers. I also live next door, so very convenient. Alma gives great haircuts. She pays close attention to detail and is one of the few people who can deal with my weird hair. That being said, I don't enjoy going to I'm Sergio. The other girls are unprofessional and act like it's a college party rather than a salon. I spent my time today listening to them use the stereo system as their personal party station - changing songs constantly and dancing and singing. The talk between the other girls was highly unprofessional and bordered on offensive. Perhaps that's the vibe Sergio is going for. It's certainly not the vibe I enjoy. read more

But there's something to be said about working with someone who can help you understand there is more to a good haircut than simplicity. I've had the pleasure of working with Alexa at the I'm Sergio location in Center City and she has the great combination of enthusiasm, professionalism, and knowledge that showed me how to be stylish but still keep it simple for people like me. I am also extremely happy with I'm Sergio, from the decor and comforts of home (comfy stadium seating and widescreen tv's while you wait!) to the spacious workspaces (no running elbows with the other customers while you're in the chair). The entire staff is also welcoming and accommodating, which made the entire experience a pleasure. Growing up in the "inner" city of NY, I grew up going to the barber shop. I have spent many of Saturdays waiting for "MY" barber to call my name. The fact that I am here on Yelp leaving a review for I'm Sergio should be a testament to how surprised I was by the experience as a whole, and how good the folks who work there are at their jobs. To be quite honest, my first time going I was WAY overdue for a cut, had a work event to attend, and needed to find somewhere close by with an opening. I was desperate and 2 shots of tequila away for looking for a supercuts..(ok thats extreme, but I was desperate). I stumbled upon this place through google looking for places close to the office. They had an opening, (There always seems to be an immediate opening, another plus) and PRAYED to the gods the person that was available knew how to cut hair. Not going to my barber, or even a barbershop in general had my kinda nervous. I was greeted with a smile and offered a drink immediately. (This does not happen at the barber shop). Once my turn came up, I was brought back and given a wash. I don't remember her name, but that alone was pretty fantastic. Someone should just have a mobile service that drives around giving hair washes with scalp massages. I would pay for that. Seriously. The cut itself was GREAT, and the conversation was equally as good. Due to my work schedule, I have actually had my cut from several different people there, and have never received a BAD haircut. Now, to be honest, my hair grows like weed, so mistakes only last a few days, but none the less, the cuts have been GREAT. The girl that cuts me now is Minh. Her attention to the detail and nuances of my latino hair is always on point. She always makes good suggestions, and I trust her enough to say "Just make it look good". I'm often in between meetings when I shoot over, so she's gone as far as to bring in a special neck-hair-protector that insures I go back to work not itching like someone with the plague. I even actually took a last minute emergency conference call from her chair, and she was sensitive to that and worked with me during the call. Even though my preference these days is Minh, I know for a fact I would be in good hands with any of the ladies there if I was in a pinch. The service industry is tough. Period. Your never given props for a good job, and ALMOST ALWAYS get called out when you don't provide the service someone expects. I like my hair long and thick i went to this place because my friend told me about, I asked for trimming and the girl gave me a hair cut and made my hair so short. I do not know what part of trimming she did not get. Maybe i was not lucky with her but i just did not like the place and i will never go back. I used to hate getting my hair cut at places like Supersuck's where I had a different person every time; we would have awkward conversations about the weather, and I was never quite sure what kind of hair cut I would end up with. Then I decided to try out I'm Sergio's wow what a difference. It's more of an experience than just a hair cut, with the head massage, hot towel, shampoo, all while drinking a nice cold beer. I had the privilege of the lovely Anna cut my hair, and if you don't know who to ask for, I would highly recommend her although I'm sure all the girls do a great job there though maybe minus Sergio (not sure of his hair cutting ability, but great owner).
