I filed the insurance claim and my insurance sent the money to the office. The office is not denying I paid the upfront cost of the procedure and now will not return any reimbursements from the insurance company. Which I found out the dentist does take Metlife Dental.

This office is MONEY HUNGRY! private or not. I visited for a consultation for my wisdom teeth…read moreextraction. Upon entering, I was given two papers to fill out as a new patient, neither of those papers had questions about my dental history..which seemed off because I did have my referral and x-rays with me. I was taken to the back to do a Panoramic x-ray and then in a room to meet Dr. Avi. He explained to me the overall procedure and that he was not going to pull all 4 of my wisdom teeth at one time. I was told that my insurance only covers 1 panoramic x-ray every 3 years, so that I would have to cover the costs of the one just taken which is $200.. weird to be told AFTERWARDS, right? okay then he introduced to me a procedure called "bone grafting" which he said I needed for the bottom two wisdom teeth and If I declined to do the bone grafting he " would not touch me".... this is also not covered by my insurance so it would be an out of pocket costs of $625 PER TOOTH! He said one week he will pull two, place the bone graft in, stitch it and then come back two weeks later to TAKE THE STITCHES OUT and pull the other two and repeat the same thing for the following two weeks...now I am apprehensive. During the conversation I asked of there was a payment plan he and said yes the front desk will break down how it goes. He was very adamant about scheduling my surgery for THE FOLLOWING WEEK and he told the front desk to do so.. I asked how much days he would think I need off from work etc.. he said just 1. Here's the breakdown and total: $200 (x-ray) + $625 (bone graft) x 2 = $1,450. The payment plan was that On the day of the surgery half of the total was due, which is $725 and then at my next two week visit another payment. This was Insane and felt forced. I found another oral surgeon and finalized that "bone grafting" IS NOT needed for me, they asked about my dental history, and let me know first that I would've had to pay $25 for an x-ray IF I DIDN'T already have my images.. which I did. Conclusion, Get a second opinion always.

After reading the Yelp and Google reviews I was really frightened about my visit to this dentist to…read morebe honest. The reason I chose them is because none of my friends recommend their dentists. My old dentist was great (besides the fact that they don't answer the phone) but it just had gotten too far for me to travel (and just to be fair their Google and Yelp reviews are awful as well.) So I figure can't judge a dentist on what people say.I have to go on my own experience. But still I was weary. I went for a cleaning. And after the X-rays I saw the dentist. Then I saw the hygienist. The X-ray guy was kind of a jerk honestly. As soon as I told him I was here for only stuff my insurance would cover (I figured I would set my boundaries after reading the reviews that they offer lots of out of pocket stuff) he was like well maybe your insurance could recommend another dentist office to you. And I was like you don't do insurance covered stuff. Then he backtracked and said well I don't handle the money stuff. But the dentist was really really nice. I told him I was just here for insurance covered stuff. As the other reviewers mentioned he offered me braces. But I do need braces my teeth are really crooked. But he didn't push me on it. He said everything else was fine. We talked about options with my crowns if there was ever a problem. He was really really nice. He didn't offer to do any procedures that I didn't need. He told me what he thought I didn't need and what my insurance wouldn't cover. I really liked him. Then the hygienist came. She was very nice and polite. She made sure I was ok during the whole procedure. But the cleaning was kind of fast I think. And unlike my old dentist she didn't use a tartar scraper tool on my teeth. She just used an electric device and polished. And I asked her about it and she said that she had gotten my teeth totally clean without it. I don't know.

She had numerous X-rays taken and was then left waiting in a room for over 25 minutes before the dental hygienist finally arrived. When the hygienist did come in, the cleaning was extremely rushed and lasted only about 11 minutes. My mother immediately noticed the difference and did not feel as clean afterward as she has following previous dental cleanings. I understand that offices can get busy, but the amount of time spent waiting followed by such a rushed cleaning was disappointing, especially for an elderly patient. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not be returning. I would not recommend this office to others.
