My boyfriend's old barber shop closed down, so we had to find a new place nearby. Most places charge $40-60, but Illy Hair was $20 for a men's haircut. We called ahead to see if we could walk in or make an appointment, and they said to just walk in. For $20, I didn't really expect much. The old shop usually speeds through his entire head for like 10 mins, so I was expecting it to be fast. Chanh did a great job with the men's haircut! She was meticulous, and the whole process took 30 mins. I watched her shave the same part over and over to make sure it's even. The salon was also very clean and there were other stylists doing colors. My boyfriend was really impressed with his haircut so I'm glad! This will be his shop to visit onwards :) read more

Older lady gave me the worst haircut I ever had. I don't have anything else to say other than please do not come here

Been going to Jin for years and it's because he gives me a great consistent haircut. Awesome place to bring your kids as well.

We've been clients of this tiny salon for years!! A family owned business -- big hearts and a passionfor hair. Call ahead for an appointment, you'll be glad you did! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. The service was awful. I asked for long layers and got my hair chopped into a short bob. My brother asked for a trim and a Korean-style cut, they gave him a bowl cut. My mom also wanted layers and left with most of her hair gone. None of us got what we asked for, even with clear instructions and reference photos. The stylists seemed untrained and didn't listen at all. Completely unprofessional and careless. Save your time and money. Go somewhere else. read more

Jin is absolutely the best! My short haircut was done so elegantly and stylishly. I've been to many hairdressers in the DFW area, and no one even comes close to how Jin cuts hair. Highly recommend him and the salon. It's conveniently located in the same plaza as Ranch 99 in Plano. Make sure to schedule your appointment about 1.5 months in advance to get your preferred time. read more

Just got a haircut and roots colored. The lady that assisted me was nice. While she's good, I really want to try Jin. Next time i will make an appointment with him. I watching him cut the hair of his clients and i see confidence . It was cool to watch. read more

So disappointed with the results. I wanted a pixie hair cut, but she cut my hair way too short and insisted (after she had already cut it) that since I have thin hair, it wasn't going to look exactly like the picture I showed her. I replied that while of course it won't look exactly like the picture, it should at least look similar; I also said that she could've told me that the style wouldn't look good with my hair type, so I could choose another one that best suited me. When I told her that the back was too short, she replied that my neck is short, not like the woman in the picture (seriously...). I was talking about the hair length and that was what she replied with! When I told her that I didn't like the results, she kept mumbling (I couldn't understand all that she said, because she wasn't speaking too clearly), that my hair was too thin and oily. Overall, I was extremely disappointed because as a stylist, she didn't even try to listen to my concerns and was very offensive towards me. The owner--who was right behind us--did not try to intervene or help the situation in any way. read more

Absolute best hair salon in this area. I have been always looking for a hair salon that's closer to my house as I was so tired driving 20-30 min just to get a decent hair cut. But this salon is so close my house and conveniently located off the 75 (spring creek). It's tucked in next to some Korean restaurant and from the outside it doesn't look that special. But once you enter you see get the vibe of the salon and that the owner/hair stylist (Jin) is a perfectionist. His wife is mainly the person who helps him with front desk, shampooing and drying hair. And he does all the cutting and chemical treatments. I unfortunately schedule something right after my hair cut and they were so nice to accommodate my schedule even they didn't have to. I very much appreciated it. He examined my hair and knew exactly how to cut it. And how to make my crazy hair look so much lighter and good. I will schedule a magic perm (Japanese straightening) next time and I hope it comes out well too which I'm certain it will. As he seems such a perfectionist who takes great pride in this industry and wanting to provide the best experience and customer service too all his client. I like this salon a lot. 5 stars all the way. Will give an update after my hair straightening later. read more

I stopped by this salon approximately 20 minutes before their closing time. I received no greetings and didn't feel welcomed there. There was a customer inside the salon but the owner and his wife decided to close their salon early on that day and only said "We finished!" They turned off their open sign lights after I left. I will never return to this place for sure! read more

Swoon did a great job cutting my hair. Men's cut starts at $25 which is reasonable. She took time and was meticulous how to cut and style my hair. She gets busy due to demand so I highly recommend you make and appointment. read more

Awesome salon! It's affordable and the hair techs are well skilled with good customer service! They give you all the perks - deep shampoo and massage and after the trim, they blow dry and style, all for one basic price. Free coffee, sodas and water, too! What a great find! read more

My whole family gets our hair done from Jin, who opened up his own salon in Plano! Now his salon is farther away from us (Southlake to Plano is 45 mins each way) but he's totally worth the drive! We get our hair cut, hair color, and my teenage daughter's hair is something else. She has super super frizzy hair. We only trust Jin with her hair. I forgot to take a picture of her frizzy hair but the got the "after" picture from today's magic and keratin treatment. My daughter's hair is now smooth and silky and so easy to manage! read more

Jin is the best! All the men in our family go to him. He has been the most helpful hair stylist. We've followed him across town now and will continue to go to him at this new salon. We make the drive from Downtown Dallas to Plano, and it's still worth it! He cut my husband's hair for our engagement and wedding photos. Our friends have even asked us for recommendations for hair and it's always Jin. This salon is also clean and cozy. You'll feel right at home. His staff is also super warm and helpful if you need anything. Highly highly recommend! read more

The best hair cut and treatment that I have had in the last 35 years. His attention to detail and caring are second to none. It was my first time at the salon and with Jin, he analyzed my hair and face shape for at least 10 minutes before deciding his options. I drove 30 minutes to be there and it is completely worth it. read more

The best hair shop in town! Friendly and humble owner. Very clean. Always trendy hair cut styles and up to date hair products.

I just moved to Plano and visited this salon few weeks ago after reading good reviews here, and I also fell in love with this salon just like other reviewers! He is not only professional but also very friendly and helpful. I am honestly not the best person to explain stuffs, but he patiently waited for me to explain every details that I wanted, and he cut my hair just as what I wanted! My daughter also fell in love this salon (especially the Paw Patrol juice bottle he gave my daughter, haha). It was her first time to cut her long hair, and thanks to his great work, my daughter is really happy about her short hair and decided to make this salon her favorite forever! read more

My first time visit there and I will not be there anymore. The hair cut was just below average. The lady who did my hair cut didn't even inform me there is a charge for the hair dry and just charged it after the service. Very poor customer service, wouldn't recommend read more

I got a men's hair cut with Jin. Excellent trim with fade. Very polite and terrific service - with hair wash both at beginning and end with no additional charge. I really could not recommend this place enough. I made an appointment for my hair to be color corrected, and for the entire 3-4 hours I was there, Mr. Jin and his wife made my stay incredibly enjoyable with their lovely personalities and wonderful service. Mr. Jin is very talented at what he does, as he gave my hair a vibrant new shade and a silkiness I haven't experienced in months. I've already gotten so many compliments on my new hairstyle - this was my first time there, and I definitely will be returning! read more

Prior to going to illy hair, I had been going to the same hair stylist for almost 8 years. I'm very particular about my the colors I dye my hair and how it's cut. After having a few not satisfying experiences with my previous stylist, I decided give give Jin a try and I am so happy to say that he did just a great job and decided I will be going back to him and only him. He matched the color I wanted perfectly. I explained how I wanted my hair cut and that's exactly what I got. He gave me tips and tricks on how to style my hair. He didn't take off additional inches like other places do. The best thing is that I realized I had been over paying by far too much at my previous salon. read more
