I finally made it to Illy, and I'm so happy I did! I walked in not really knowing what I wanted because I was too busy being amazed by the beautiful interior. I originally planned to order the matcha but quickly changed my mind and decided to try the Iced Lavender Mint Latte instead--and I'm so glad I did! I've never had lavender with matcha before, and we all know lavender can sometimes be very overpowering. However, the lavender and mint combination was just right! When you first take a sip, you get the lavender, and then the mint comes through on the back end. Neither flavor was doing too much; it was just enough, and I was very happy with the balance! I also ordered a donut, which I gave to my son, so I didn't get to try it. The service was just meh. I could tell the cashier was probably thinking in his head, "Lady, hurry up!" But the other two staff members were very friendly and generous, so that definitely helped. I absolutely love the spacious seating area inside, and they also have outdoor seating, which is perfect for enjoying your drink when the weather is nice. Overall, I'm giving this place an 8.5/10! I definitely recommend stopping by. It's such a cute spot for a coffee date with whomever! read more

I made a quick stop here to grab some coffee before heading to the first session of my conference. I've heard of Illy before, mainly through their coffee that they sell in retailers. However, I had never seen a brick and mortar location before - or even knew they existed. The cafe has a typical coffee shop layout, but was larger than I expected. The usual coffee beverages were on the menu, in addition to some pastries, sandwiches, and bags of coffee to take home. I opted for their cappuccino - it was ready relatively quickly and was quite good. Service was friendly, and overall Illy hit the spot - nothing amazing but nothing bad either. While visiting National Harbor, we decided to switch it up one morning and skip the usual Starbucks run. Instead, we stopped by Illy Coffee Shop for the first time--and I'm so glad we did! Since it's cherry blossom season, I went with the cherry blossom latte, and baby...it did not disappoint! It wasn't too sweet, not overpowering--just perfectly balanced with the right amount of espresso to get me going. The shop itself had a nice, clean, boutique feel--super cozy and definitely a vibe. Honestly, it was a much better choice than going to a traditional franchise like Starbucks right down the street. And the service? Excellent! Our server was polite, friendly, and made the experience even better. I didn't try any pastries this time, but next visit? Oh, I'm definitely grabbing one! I was really disappointed with my experience. I ordered a coffee and a sandwich, but after waiting for quite a while, I realized my sandwich never came out. When I finally asked about it, the staff seemed to have forgotten the order entirely and only started making it after I reminded them. Mistakes happen, but what was frustrating was that no one noticed or checked in about the missing item until I brought it up. Better communication and attention to orders would go a long way. Lilly Store on WaterFront is a very nice Large espressamentta shop. I really enjoyed the vibe of the shop and the staff was excellent. I always enjoy Illy espresso as their quality standards are high and consistent. This visit was wonderful. I had a cappuccino and took some time to relax and truly enjoyed my visit. Illy Café at National Harbor is the kind of place that makes you say, "Oh... this is dangerous," because suddenly you want to come for every part of the day. Morning coffee? Excellent. Midday bite? Outstanding. Casual meet-up that turns into lingering longer than planned? Guilty. The coffee is legit, the food menu is thoughtful and delicious, and overall it's a truly welcome addition to the Harbor's lineup. Now, the staff is clearly young, and that's not a knock. They're polite, energetic, and with time they'll only get sharper and more confident. That said, the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth wasn't the espresso. It was the manager. No greeting. No welcome. No acknowledgment that you've walked into his café. Maybe he's shy. Maybe he's filling in. Maybe he's someone's brother doing a favor. Who knows. What I do know is that hospitality starts at the door, and for a place this good, the leadership should match the vibe. Bottom line: Illy Café gets high marks for food, coffee, and concept and I'll absolutely be back. I just hope next time the manager remembers that a smile is free, and it pairs really well with a great cup of coffee! read more

Nice interior and pretty setting. A asked if the bagels were made there fresh and I was told yes! Well my bagel was definitely a day old. The matcha which we ordered cold came hot. When my daughter asked for ice the man behind the counter gave her the meanest look. The Nutella croissant was good and the eggs and cheese croissant was ok. This place was very disappointing this morning. My son and I went for breakfast because he loves pancakes. Also all the pictures and reviews looked promising. When we walked in they were not busy at all and when the cashier came up to us she was very rude. She looked at us like we were an inconvenience and my son was not being bad he actually said hi and she did not respond. I ordered then asked her a question regarding the menu and she looked at me like I was dumb. She was very disrespectful in her response. Took a long time for our order to be completed--the manager was yelling at the customers while they worked, stressing them out and making our order take longer.
