Maybe I came on the wrong night, but this is the most disappointing meal I've had in Italy. People seem to rave about this place, and when I saw the location (cool!) and menu (yum!), I was ready to rave. My first course was lamb meatballs. The English menu hadn't mentioned deep frying, so that was a shock. I cut the first and prepared for a bomb of lamb delight, but it was just flavorless and overcooked. Very chewy. The glaze on the plate was needed just to give any flavor at all.
The main dish was duck breast with a pecorino romano sauce. It was like I was watching the same movie: overcooked, chewy, needs the sauce. Except, in this case, the pecorino romano sauce was not good, so I just had to get the duck breast down and cut my losses.
Look, the service is good. The atmosphere is good. They let me sample the house red before I bought it. But man, I would probably never order anything except for really basic pasta dishes here. read more
