Very rude manager - at 14:45, I very politely asked if he spoke English and then asked if it's possible to order a coffee and he said, quote, "we're not a bar, we're a restaurant and we are closed." Sign posted outside says they're open until 15:30. He could have at least shared sorry, that's not possible as we're a restaurant. It's possible you'll receive service if you're white (I'm not). I visited years ago and was warmly welcomed and had an early afternoon coffee on the terrace, unsure if the manager was having a bad day or if it's the rise in hostility towards non-white people. Ambiance is perfect for a couple or small groups. The view is beautiful, if you get the chance, sit outside. We started with an antipasto platter which was a yummy assortment and followed that with a pork dish local to the region. I also paired it with the local region's white wine which was tasty. Beautiful views. And sometimes when you have beautiful views, you don't have beautiful food. That is not the case here. Our meal was excellent. We shared the fried artichoke to start (note it is deep fried and you could have been eating any deep fried dish), shared a pasta with gorgonzola, walnuts and radicchio (fantastic), shared salad and shared steak. The view is incredible. The food and wine was the worst we have ever had in Italy and we have visited Italy from America at least 10 times. If you'd like a view, great, go here. But, be prepared to pay for it ($$) and to be very disappointed by the food and wine. The bread they served to start was so bad I literally spit the bite I took back in the little bag they served it in. I have never actually had bread that was inedible!?! It was stale and flavorless. Our AirBnB host said, "It is where Americans go for the view". I should have known he was not happy with the food there. We ordered the fried artichokes and they were absolutely flavorless even after dousing them in salt and balsamic vinegar. The sauce they came with was inedible. The orange and salami salad was overpowered with too much meat and overall lacking in a good blend and enough flavor. The pastas were swimming in sauce that was also extremely bland and just a wrong mix of flavors. I found myself wondering what in the world went wrong here?!? If I was in my home country I would have for sure sent the artichokes and the pastas back. Also to note our server never refilled our water once. Ugh! It was a very disappointing bill to pay. The view is the draw - and rightly so: beautiful! While the outdoor seating is covered, they also have indoor seating in the event of cold weather. Service was friendly, fast, helpful. Wasn't sure what to expect: wondered if the view was the main draw and food wouldn't live up to the overall hype...but there was no need to worry - food was really good. We tried 2 different pasta dishes, the wild boar, and 2 appetizers - enjoyed everything we had. Highly recommend reservations if it's a nice day. read more

On my recent trip to Assisi, I was determined to eat at this restaurant simply based on the research that I did and the photos of what seemed like it was going to be the most perfect panoramic view of the Asissi landscape outside of it's medieval walls all from their patio dining space. I of course looked into the menu as well, and saw many lovely things that I would enjoy eating during my visit, so my friend and I stopped in during our evening walk and luckily they were able to accommodate us last minute. I often forget that in small villages with a thriving tourist scene and a good population considering the size, that it is "a must" to make a dinner reservation. We finally got our table and not only were we greeted with a smile, we did indeed get our perfect seat outside on the patio. The sweeping views of the countryside took my breath away and our waitress was gracious, very sweet and spoke pretty great English too! We of course, attempted our best Italian out of respect and we were rewarded with top notch service, and a wonderful meal! The wine was delicious (I had a Prosecco and my friend a Montefalco) and I enjoyed a beautiful dish of Beef Carpacio, with rocket salad and shaved Parmegiano Regiano and he a fish dish. We also enjoyed some Pasta Alla Norcina which is a typical Umbrian dish with a very, light, delicate cream sauce that coats your pasta just perfectly and a bit of fresh sausage and black truffles. It was one of the top dinners I ate on this trip! Well done and I shall return!!! read more

We found this place walking back to our hotel and what a find it was. The food is among the best we've had in Italy and the wine from this region is outstanding. The views are incredible and made for great pictures a relaxing evening for all. They can prepare meals kids love also. We like that they serve later and stay open later than most places in Assisi. read more

Nice views, but improper manager service. The waiters, as well as the customers are stressed by the restaurant director. The restaurant director is rude, and used to lie to the customers. I will not repeat the experience on my next trip to Assisi. He replies to customers, and also get's into their conversation without needing to. Food is not as good as several restaurants we visited in the city. It is a restaurant that needs to improve it's management, as you can not only sell the views. read more

went here several times when I was in Assisi with my family and this was the BEST place we went during our visit to Italy. my brother is allergic to gluten (and lots of other things) and their menu lists all the allergens for each dish, and they have a great gluten free pasta. the food was delicious, the view was unbeatable, and the staff were very kind and funny. highly recommend. as my mom said after our first dinner here, "this was the best food we had in Italy". read more
