The location, the view and the architecture are to die for. This is truly a unique property with…read moresome past and recent movie cultural history. Meals on the building's terrace or the barbeque terrace can be wonderful with the surrounding scenery. The gated property lends a sense of secluded privacy. With access to a dip pool and the ocean, we had a great time. The cooks that were recommended provided delicious meals. Night time provided a fantastic starry night scenery. I believe I took hundreds of photos of the property. However for the price one pays for such a luxury and a five star expectation, I would expect a little more service from the property manager, and that the facilities would be in a little more working order. It's an old building , so expect a little dust, some smells, bugs and old world charm, but make sure that basic house cleaning was already done in the rooms and that lights and door knobs actually work. There was a dearth of working sun umbrellas in the beginning, the satellite TV was on the blink and the Internet wireless was slow and did not work on the lower floor or outside. The manager did not seem to be in a special hurry to remedy these issues, so keep reinforcing requests with communication. The building power will also be a little sensitive, so don't overuse the AC and don't put on every single light. The kitchen was fine although a bit dark. The oven is tricky, so make sure you ask for directions. The cutlery and china was all in order but surprisingly there did not seem to be enough real wine glasses. For me the bedrooms were comfortable, and there was no real need for AC. Most of the windows let in a cool breeze and most of the bug screens are in working order. Again the views from the bedroom are fantastic. However, the master bedroom has a little bit of an odd layout. The bedroom is on one floor but you need to walk up a rickety wooden stairs to the bathroom. However, go up another winding staircase, and you have access to the tower's roof, which is spectacular. My favorite room was the upstairs common room with a dining area, a small kitchenette, TV viewing area and access to the terrace. Privacy was pretty good, but be aware that the property is shared with a bungalow property. This was fine since the bungalow guests were quite nice. We loved the ocean access. There is shared access down to the ocean via a trail and concrete staircase, but be aware that this "private" access will be deluged on the weekends by curious tourists swimming in from a nearby beach to check out the property. It might help if the management posted a privacy sign. The stairway access is in working order but be careful with the stone steps at the bottom, they are starting to deteriorate. Invest in a beach chair to bring down, because the ocean access platform is small and rocky. At the platform, access to the ocean is easy, but you need to step onto a rocky ocean floor. Investing in water shoes, may be a good idea. A sandy beach with shells is close by, you only need to swim a hundred yards and the water gets pretty shallow quickly. Overall, this was a great experience if you are willing to overlook some shortcomings and don't mind paying for the view and this unique historical property.

Stayed 3 nights at the residence borgo pio during our stay in Rome…read more The rooms were spacious. Our unit had two bedrooms and a kitchen. No living room so you have to hang out and watch TV in the bedrooms.. No big deal. The kitchen has utensils if you plan on cooking but we never really used it. The bathrooms were really tiny but I thnlink thats the European norm. We had a nice view of the city from our room and you really felt like you were in the heart of it all. . My favorite parts about the hotel. 1. Close to the Vatican. 2. Spacious rooms. 3. Breakfast included. The assortment was very good. Fresh juices and a nice selection of breakfast items. They even had a full honey comb out which was something I have never seen before. Views at the upper breakfast area is amazing. 4. Has a lounge with a shower for guests that have a plane to catch in the evening. This was a huge plus. On our departing day we used the luggage check. And after a day of bike tours we were able to come back to the hotel and take a shower. My not so favorite parts about the hotel. 1. Air conditioning is controlled by the key card. And when I tried to bypass this and just leave it on so that there wont be temperature swings house keeping would take the key back out. Kind of annoying. 2. Staff doesn't seem to acknowledge your presence. A simple smile or hello is always a welcoming gesture in the hospitality industry. 3. Laundry room has set hours that are ridiculously inconvenient. Overall the hotel was outstanding. Ill likely stay here again if we return to Rome.

Borgo Pio has everything you need for your stay in Rome…read more Something special is that each apartment has a kitchen with a dishwasher and an entertainment room that has a pull out couch. For 2.50 euro for each machine downstairs, you can actually do laundry and wash and dry your clothes. This came in handy to us since our trip was 10 days. I've stayed here throughout the last 10 years with my mom and they have majorly upgraded everything making it contemporary and modern. Housekeeping comes to your room daily to replace towels and make your bed. It also has a lounge and restaurant area on the 7th floor with a great view of Castel Sant'Angelo and St. Peter's Basilica. For 10 euro, you can enjoy a buffet breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised by the options which included scrambled eggs and mini pancakes as well as chilled items like slices cheese and yogurt. From 4 - 10 pm, you can go up and get a drink which is served with potato chips, peanuts and sometimes mini pigs in a blanket and mini pizzas. The drinks are affordable at 5 euro each, at least our red wines were that each night. A service we took advantage of was the private car to the airport. It was 50 euro and they said a taxi would be 48. It was a very nice BMW that picked us up and was 15 minutes early which was reassuring. This saved us the headache of calling a taxi.

No joke this place is a 16th century palace that has been converted into residences and hotel…read morerooms. We had no idea when we booked it as we booked last minute on the way to Siena on hotels.com. It was less than $100 for the night and the hotel room was an entire apartment located right in the center of town. It even had a laundry room that saved us! We were able to wash our clothes from our 10+ day trip so far and it was a godsend. Everything here is OLD. And I don't mean like kinda old, this is the oldest most historic place we have ever visited even over museums etc. it was crazy to think how many people must've lived and stayed here before us. If you don't care about it being traditional decor etc. this place is a must stay in Siena. More about this palace/hotel: "Today Palazzo Coli Bizzarrini stands as one of the most representative works of the XVI century architectural style, converted into a hospitality structure offering impeccable services. The history of this residence is intertwined with the city's treasures. In fact, the Museo del Palazzo Pubblico of Siena safeguards the medal with the effigies of Francesconi and the date on which the first stone was laid: 1520. Owing to its particular characteristics, the residence is subject to restrictions stipulated by Law no. 1089 of 01/06/1939 for "the protection of artifacts of artistic and historic interest", an official acknowledgement of the exclusive nature of this residence. Today, Palazzo Coli Bizzarrini stands as one of the most florid examples of the Renaissance period, just a few metres away from the great masterpieces of Siena."

Absolutely magnificent "hotel"!!! Is hard to even call it a hotel, as you more so feel like royalty…read morespending the night in a historic mansion (4 bedrooms total) inside the walls of Siena. Rooms were beautiful, service was very helpful and friendly, views were *superb*, and the location was perfect! MUST.STAY.HERE!!! The owner of the residence texted me several hours before to welcome us and check what our arrival time would be (they usually aren't there from 11 am-3 pm), as well as to inform us to drive straight to a private parking garage "Leonardo" nearby. Once at the garage, the attendant drove us to Palazzo Borghesi and then drove himself back to the garage to park our car- super easy!! And much to our surprise, we were able to check in a few hours early!! The residence was built in the 15th century by the Borghesi family and given to the grandson and current owner, Paolo, in 1950. In 2016 he decided to rent out the rooms so that tourists could see what living in Siena was really like. Everything inside is original- including the frescos on the ceilings and walls. Two huge wooden doors (that you will use an actual metal key to open) welcome you into the residence- there is a communal living room, dining room and patio, in addition to your own room, bathroom, and terrace. We stayed in the "verde" or green room- which was gorgeous!!! The paint and the decor in the room, down to every fine detail, were so elaborate and beautiful. The view from the room was breath-taking and the panoramic terrace gave you a view of the entire city of Siena. There was no need to climb the cathedral, the Duomo; nothing beat the view from our room!! The residence was right in the heart of Siena- lots of restaurants and (meat and fruit) markets up and down the nearby streets. Our stay included 2 vouchers for breakfast at the cafe right outside the residence, called Bar 4 Cantoni. To our surprise, we were each allowed to pick ANY sandwich or party and any drink in the store that we wanted. Both the cappuccino and the mozzarella and prosciutto sandwich (on freshly toasted bread) was THE best I've ever had. At the end of our stay, the hosts thanked us graciously and even gave us a hand painted Christmas ornament as a "thank you". It was the sweetest gesture, totally unexpected but very much appreciated. We 100% will stay here on our next trip to Siena, this experience (not just a hotel room) blew us away. Very very happy with it.

The management was independent and not accomadating at all. The place was very tired and we left after one night. They charged us for two nights even though we told them it was not a room for two women traveling together. Although they agreed they would rent a an additional room for more money!! Breakfast was the worst we had in three weeks of travel in Itlay. Personally I would not reccomend this hotel.
