No joke this place is a 16th century palace that has been converted into residences and hotel rooms.
We had no idea when we booked it as we booked last minute on the way to Siena on hotels.com. It was less than $100 for the night and the hotel room was an entire apartment located right in the center of town. It even had a laundry room that saved us! We were able to wash our clothes from our 10+ day trip so far and it was a godsend.
Everything here is OLD. And I don't mean like kinda old, this is the oldest most historic place we have ever visited even over museums etc. it was crazy to think how many people must've lived and stayed here before us.
If you don't care about it being traditional decor etc. this place is a must stay in Siena.
More about this palace/hotel:
"Today Palazzo Coli Bizzarrini stands as one of the most representative works of the XVI century architectural style, converted into a hospitality structure offering impeccable services. The history of this residence is intertwined with the city's treasures.
In fact, the Museo del Palazzo Pubblico of Siena safeguards the medal with the effigies of Francesconi and the date on which the first stone was laid: 1520. Owing to its particular characteristics, the residence is subject to restrictions stipulated by Law no. 1089 of 01/06/1939 for "the protection of artifacts of artistic and historic interest", an official acknowledgement of the exclusive nature of this residence.
Today, Palazzo Coli Bizzarrini stands as one of the most florid examples of the Renaissance period, just a few metres away from the great masterpieces of Siena." read more
