I was so excited to stay at the nicest hotel in Siena on our trip and we stayed here 2 nights…read more After the first night, I woke up covered in bites. I told my husband I thought there were bedbugs and he thought I was crazy. I was itchy all day and had about 10 to 12 bites all over my body. The next night we were up all night. He started getting bites as well. We told the hotel in the middle of the night and they said that we must have left the window open. We let them know we did not open the window. They let us switch rooms at 4 am after being up for hours and going back and forth on them about this, but the damage was done. The next morning they apologized and said they misunderstood with the language barrier and thought that there were flying insects in the room. They told us that they would refund us for the entire stay because of the inconvenience and how grossed out we were. We showed the front desk lady our bodies covered in bites and she apologized and said she would refund the entire stay. When I got home and still had the charge I called back and they said they didn't find bugs and wouldn't refund us. No contact from them at all they just changed their mind. A simple Google search will let you know how challenging it is to see and find them. We certainly saw them AND showed the staff our bodies covered in bites. This was such a disappointing and disgusting experience. We had to go launder all our clothes in the middle of our vacation, couldn't bring our luggage into any other hotel after this, and the fact they think we would make this up when we showed them our bodies were covered in bites is appalling. Not 5 star service or cleanliness, don't stay here.

My room was beautiful, comfortable and with a beautiful view of the homes in Siena. The customer service is top notch. Breakfast was included and it was a buffet of wonderful variety of food. We also had a complimentary dinner at their restaurant. It was lovely. The food was good and the service superb. I had a chocolate dessert that was a bit " chocolate egg". We poured a had drink to melt the chocolate and see what was inside. Pretty cool! I highly recommend a stay in the Grand Hotel Continental.

Great Location. very close to San Domenico's church and several restaurants (though a short walk to Il Campo where the evening action is, it's still a totally conveninent location b/c you SHOULD be walking around Siena!) They have several rooms w/ incredible views of the city. First come first serve so book early! Our double room w/ private bath was clean, comfortable and had a better private bathroom than i was expecting (separately enclosed shower, not the size of a tin can, etc) It's a converted convent so don't expect the W hotel Nice buffet breakfast included (pastries, yogurt, coffee/espresso, nuuutelllaaaa, and fruit) Conveniently bookable online/via email. internet access in a common room for a couple euros. Cons: Walls are thin. I could hear a couple talking next door at night but, happily buzzed on red wine, I fell asleep anyways Front desk personnel are polite but not friendly. They answer questions but dont offer up much more. not really a con but just an FYI, We were younger than the average guest by a good 30 years. Lots of senior citizens with their valuables in a pouch wrapped around their neck. Just saying.. You're going to be spending a lot in Italy. Hotels, trains, food. Save a little and stay here. You get great quality for what you pay.

"LOCATION... LOCATION... LOCATION!!!"…read more This was our second stay at The Alma Domus, and the first since they remodeled half of the rooms... And they did a fabulous job!!! We stayed at the Alma Domus for few nights back in 2010 and promised ourselves we'd go back... We just stayed for 2 nights in mid-June 2015 and it was incredible!!! Our small group of 12 booked six of the larger remodeled rooms on the top floor with the views of the historic center and the Duomo and we were blown away!!! So location is the #1 reason to stay at The Alma Domus, just a 2-3 minute walk to Piazza del Campo... and Incredible Value is reason #2. The newly remodeled rooms and bathrooms are wonderfully appointed for a hotel in this price range!!! We had large superior triple rooms in the mid june high season for 110 euro and quad rooms for 125 euro... all with views, balconies, air-conditioning, and breakfast!!! I don't think you can find better value in Siena with this location, the charm and quaintness, and the amenities... Both the bathroom amenities(shampoo, soap, etc) and the free breakfast are very basic but fully adequate... If you can't live without your L'Occitane shampoo, and french milled soap, bring your own... Breakfast is simple but nice; juices, coffees, teas, cappuccino, espresso, croissants, pastries, cereals, fresh fruits, yogurts, sweet cakes, etc... The staff at the hotel was so friendly & helpful to our little group of friends and we found this hotel to be just magical... Waking up to the morning church bells just adds to the magic!!! Thanks Alma Domus for a truly wonderful stay, we'll be back soon!!!

The hotel refuses to believe the temperature telling us it will cool off, everything is fine, what's wrong with us. We have been here four hot miserable days sweating in our beds while it is a lovely 68 degrees outside. The window has been open however it opens only about 4 inches And provides no relief. From the moment we arrived, it felt like staying at a 5-star luxury hotel and welcomed like we were family. A special shout-out to Federica Oliva - She is standout manager who clearly loves her job at the Four Points Sheraton and was incredibly helpful. The property was spotlessly clean and we felt 100% safe from COVID-19 with the measures the hotel has taken. Free parking is included with your stay. We loved the location because it was quiet and the grounds were very well kept. We enjoyed relaxing at the pool and then going into the old-town for sightseeing and dinners. The front desk sells bus tickets or you can take a taxi...either way it's super easy to get into the old-town. The hotel is well worth the little time it takes... The room was very spacious, quiet and modern. Everything we needed, including a mini-fridge, good A/C and incredible coffee maker, were in the room. The bed was perfect for a great night's sleep. We even had a nice view of the wooded grounds and pool. They also have a good fitness room (rare in most of Europe) that was perfect for working off some of the carbs and calories from Siena's great restaurants. I was surprised someone had a negative experience with the breakfast. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I am very picky about what I choose to eat at the start of the day. The Four Points Sheraton's breakfast was one of my favorites: It was well-staffed and had a wide selection of eggs, meats, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, juices, and really good cappuccino. We definitely recommend this hotel and will be returning soon for another great visit to Siena.

Our server told us that this previously a cave. How often do you get to dine in a cave? The inside of the restaurant is of this stone like space. We were immediately captivated. While it does not currently have a Michelin rating, we were told it previously had a Micheline rating. The atmosphere is that of a cave...cool, a little damp, and intimate. San Guiseppe has wine cellar, according to staff, date back. We felt totally and complete immersed in history and that was only the building. centuries of Sienese life. The cuisine honors Tuscan tradition while elevating it through precision and care. Each dish showcases excellent ingredients and confident execution, embracing regional flavors rather than reinventing them. San Guissppe feature traditional dishes such as handmade pasta, rich sauces, and tenders meats showcasing distinct flavors with bold seasoning. We order lasaguna and cheese salad...absolutely superb! Our servers were superior...waiting on you hand and foot. You did not ask for anything as it was already there. Our server, Marco, was kind, humorous and knowledgeable. Since it was our first time to the restaurant he was super patient and informative regarding menu items. La Taverna di San Giuseppe has s long-term Michelin recognition for a reason...superior food and excellent service in a very unique space. We savored every bite and sip we consumed in San Giuseppe. When we are in Tuscany again, we will make a beeline for this restaurant.

Taverna di San Giuseppe was a disappointing meal for us, especially in a city with so many great…read moredining options. We ended up here by mistake (confused it with another spot), and unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. The restaurant fills up with reservations for two seatings, and from the moment we sat down the pace felt rushed. We ordered drinks and a starter while deciding on the rest, but multiple staff members kept coming by trying to take our full order. It felt like they were pushing to move things along quickly. There were a couple positives. The chicken livers to start were quite tasty and something we didn't see often on other menus. The primi were underwhelming. The pasta didn't taste fresh like many other trattorias in Siena, and the dishes overall were just average. The lasagna in particular was mushy, and the sauces didn't stand out. The secondi were slightly better -- pork ribs, Barolo-braised beef, and a "small chicken" -- but still nothing that justified the higher prices. They do have an underground wine cellar built into a cave, which is interesting to see, but there are other places in Siena with much larger and more impressive cellar spaces. Also worth noting, they add a "10% tax" charge rather than the typical €2 coperto per person. Overall, a rushed and fairly mediocre meal at a higher price point. With so many better places to eat in Siena, this is one I'd skip.
