We almost didn't eat here because the first day we tried to visit Il Ragno d'Oro they were closed…read more Apparently they close from 2-7. We returned a few days later for a late dinner. I'm glad we did. The wait for a table was a little long and we really wanted a place to sit and relax after a long day touring the Roman Forum & the Colosseum. After about about 40 minutes we were finally seated and the server & host were very nice and fun to chat with. You can tell they enjoy what they do. For the antipasti, aka appetizers, we had Fried Squids aka calamari & Carciofo allá Giudia aka Crunchy artichoke were excellent. Our main courses we ordered lamb leg with roasted potatoes, absolutely delectable. I don't recall the what the salad he suggested was called. He said it's not on the menu but he wanted me to try it. Only in Rome he said. It was a crunchy cold salad with some type of fish sauce as a dressing. Very crisp and refreshing. The Squid stuffed with prawn (aka shrimp), so tasty. Also, the ravioli with fresh tomato sauce, so savory! For desert we had the creamy tiramisu. They should change it to the dreamy tiramisu because it was heaven. The host played a prank on my daughter and brought her. Plate with one noodle and a little bacon bit. He said the plate of spaghetti allá carbonara was "no charge!" They also had some wine that they served up in what looked like shot glasses. We didn't have any but after seeing the alcohol percentage I see why it was served in such a small quantity. 26% alcohol !!

We had one of the worst dining experiences of our entire trip to Italy at this restaurant. The…read moreservice felt discriminatory and incredibly unwelcoming from the moment we arrived. Our family of four was waiting to be seated when a local family of four arrived after us and was seated immediately. We were eventually seated right next to them, and they were served bread while we were ignored and received none. We ordered wine that was never brought to the table, and at one point a waiter who was not even serving us removed our wine glasses after we had already ordered the wine. The service throughout the meal was chaotic and rude. The artichoke dish was extremely bland -- no seasoning and no flavor at all. Most of the food was greasy and disappointing. To make matters worse, we were seated directly next to the kitchen where the cooks and waiters were loudly arguing throughout our meal. We understand that service in Italy is often slower and more relaxed, and we have enjoyed wonderful hospitality everywhere else during our trip. However, this was by far the worst service we experienced anywhere in Italy. We were even asked if we wanted the bill before we had finished eating, while the local family next to us remained seated comfortably long after finishing their meal. We left feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. Unfortunately, this restaurant seemed interested only in serving locals well. If you are not Italian, do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere. We absolutely do not recommend this place.

Start with the mussels, steaming, garlicky, and swimming in a broth you'll want to drink. Tip the bowl and go for it. Or, ask for bread for the famous soak. Then comes the Cacio e Pepe. We explored the area more and found the highest rated restaurant in that area with 80k reviews! I bothered a couple eating there and they were not impressed with their dinner also. Then where do we get good authentic Italian food?? In our frustration I started asking any locals I can find. This young lady spoke enough English to let us know. She even had to call her friend for the location and name. It was not busy. The staff is older and looks like part of the good fellas cast. The decor looks like it too. Haha what an adventure. We were full from previous meal so only order two dish. Rigatoni democratic and seafood risotto . Omg this is it!! So delicious and tastes authentic . We took a picture with the owner I think and I told him he must be famoso! There were pics on the walls.

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

(Not a tourist trap, locals still dine here) My Fiance said if we had this restaurant back home, he could come here once a week. I love how they display the desserts so you can eat with your eyes and choose what you want. I ordered the sautéed clams and I loved it so much I got another order. They love the pasta al denté and the vodka penne we ordered was one of the best ones! Also ordered a fish but I can't recall the name of it! Still really good!

You see mostly locals here, and they're regulars. The restaurant is spacious but also intimate and the men serving were efficient & welcoming. Not super friendly but can tell they're very hard workers. It was located near our air bnb & worth the walk everyday. We actually looked forward to it after doing our daily activities. The workers eventually recognized us and treated us like friends. Hence the name of the restaurant- Buoni Amici = Good Friends. Plenty of wine choices and great food to go with it. The penne was missing something but good thing we ordered it with the steak as an extra dish. Everything else we had was amazing, we had it everyday & tried with one other new dish each day. No complaints! We would even get there nearly closing time, & never felt like we weren't welcomed. Almost asked them if they needed help wiping each glass & cleaning up lol There was a dessert that we seen others eating during lunch with strawberries that we were going to come back for at dinner but sadly was all gone, so I imagine it's a hit. We enjoyed the sorbetto al limone every time though! I could go on & on about this place but I'll leave the rest to your imagination. Highly recommend We'll be back on our next trip to Rome! Grazie Mille
