    Tiramisu

Couldn't agree more with the older reviews - the crab meat lasagne is delicious. A mouthful is full of flavors from the crab, well-textured lasagne and the creamy sauce that helps blend the flavors together. The entree size was perfect for a fulfilling meal. I went there for dinner with family. It was a little awkward when we first got there because we couldn't get anyone's attention. But once that is over, the service was very nice with the servers occasionally dropping by to check on us. If you like a little more variety for your meal, I recommend getting some sides like the roasted cauliflower. It was a simple yet unique way to prepare cauliflower. As for dessert, I wish that their portion would be a little smaller. Otherwise, be sure to go with someone you can share dessert with because you definitely want to try some of their desserts. I highly recommend the tiramisu. It is very smooth with a good amount of coffee flavor. In conclusion, if you have not been here, DEFINITELY try the crab meat lasagne. Or at least get someone in your party to order it so that you can try. But, don't say I didn't warn you that you will likely want your own!

Arancini - truffle and taleggio arancini with sautéed wild mushrooms

The Eagle Street pier dining precinct is unique in a way, a dining precinct where a large percentage of its restaurants offer fine dining-quality food but in a semi-casual setting. Il Centro plays its part as the token Italian restaurant on the strip. Offering an impressive selection of pan-Italian dishes with creative Modern Australian influences, Il Centro holds a certain class to its dishes whilst still maintaining a casual dining atmosphere. Seating is in the form of a single large dining room with views of the kitchen and full bar. There is also seating outside. The food menu is organised into the typical Italian sections of antipasti, primi, pasta and risotto, secondi and verdure (salad). Standouts include the hugely popular sand crab lasagne and BBQ spatchcock. Daily specials across all the categories and are displayed on a chalkboard that is wheeled around to each table upon seating. On this visit I ordered the arancini to start and a main of the daily special veal saltimbocca. The arancini was filled with truffle and taleggio topped with sautéed wild mushrooms. Two divine rich flavoured ingredients combined, offset slightly by the rice so to be not overpowering. A wonderful dish. The saltimbocca was equally impressive with juicy and tender strips of veal, delicately wrapped with prosciutto on a bed of mascarpone mash and broccolini, completed by a drizzling of red wine jus. Wanting to continue this exciting dining experience, I ordered the daily special dessert of raspberry soufflé. Straying from the usual chocolate, the raspberry was a nice refreshing choice with its sweet berry flavours, although maybe slightly too sweet. Service was excellent with many of the waitstaff entertaining casual conservation throughout the courses. Combined with its bridge views, Il Centro is perfect for an eclectic Italian casual dining experience, at reasonable prices for the quality of the food produced, and in a great location.

Before popping into the hotel I was hoping to get my carb overload done right and re-energize from the depleted energy tanks. After a quick search, I found this place and walked over to it and loved it more when I realized it had a low key atmosphere starting from the walk down into the main dining hall. This place is simple, fast, and straightforward with its menu offerings as they offers pastas, pizzas, etc along with a selection of beers/ciders while offering a hipster vibe After perusing, ordered the linguine with meatballs and the parpadelle with ragu. Ordered a few beers as well which were tasty. This place does get busy during lunch time with what seems to be office workers in the CBD and it brought the atmosphere to be lively. The pastas were out in a flash and they do not skimp on portions or protein here. I feel most places in the states only offers 3 meatballs but they went all out and doubled it and the parpadelle was no joke as well. The food here was solid and while the tomato base was a bit strong, the food itself was delish. The pasta was cooked well and basically both plates were completely gone by the end of the meal. This spot is solid and offers exactly what you are looking for in a low key atmosphere just serving up good quick eats.

The restaurant is not that hard to find just follow the signs from the streets entrance and it's easy. We all needed a hearty meal and what better that pizza and pasta . The meals were a good size and quick to come out. We started with a cheesy garlic bread and a bacon and chorizo pizza to start the ball rolling. They were both good. Next was some pasta. I got fettuccine with amatriciana sauce as I love a good tomato based sauce with a bit of salami and chilli in it to spirit up a little. The pasta was cooke lovely and the sauce was good and satisfied all my cravings. The others had pizza and carbonara. All washed down with a nice bottle of red and it was a very good hearty meal with loads of flavor.

Took us a while to figure out where we were and how to get there. Actually not hard at all. We arrived and it was very crowded. Luckily we got a seat in the corner by a window close to the action(the kitchen where the pizzas were cooked). A few slices of focaccia were served with olive oil prior to our pizza and its was wonderful. Then the main event arrived and it was beautiful. And it tasted equally as great. The sausage pizza with arugula. It was awesome. Might want to make a reservation for this great place. Its is very popular. Highly recommend the sausage pizza.

These days call for random eat-out weeknights, and since Jo was craving Italian, we decided on Pane e Vino. I've been here before and found it quite mediocre for what it's worth, but for the sake of time, we decided on this conveniently located restaurant. The ambience is quite casual, especially for a semi-pricy Italian restaurant. Might be because it's also a cafe-type restaurant? It didn't bother me, especially since they had celebrity designed plates on their wall - which honestly is a bit random. No complaints though, cause they have a plate designed by Billy Martin of Good Charlotte (as well as Geoffrey Rush and Cate Blanchett). =P I don't quite remember what I ordered last time, but this time around I got the Gnocchi Alla Boscaiola (23), which was a gnocchi with bacon, mushrooms, and shallots in a creamy tomato sauce. I wasn't too impressed with the sauce at first, but the more I had it, the more I actually liked it. They were generous about the bacon and mushrooms, which made up for the mediocre gnocchi...Not there was nothing wrong with the gnocchi, but it was a bit flour-y and not as chewy as I liked. I also had a taste of the Papparadelle Pesto e Pollo (25.5), which was a chicken pesto in a spinach cream sauce. It was decent, but I was satisfied with my choice. Though the pasta was just average for the price, the service was a 5/5 that night - attentive and friendly, just the way it should be! I would say (at least that night) it was one of the better places I've had in Brisbane, service-wise.

Well this place is just great. I can never resist the beckoning call of Italian food, and Pane e…read moreVino delivers it in spades. I like it best on a Friday night when the crowd has started to ebb and you can enjoy a piping hot pasta with friends. They offer a really great menu of Italian options. Other Italian restaurants I've been to in the past bely the name because they only serve generic pizza and pasta, but Pane e Vino is different. You've got your insalata, risotto, pasta, pollo, pesce, panini, and focaccia, and they've even thrown in some schnitzel for something totally different. So maybe it's not wholly Italian, but their choices are so fantastic and that's saying something coming from me, who can sometimes be precious about my meal choices depending on my mood. Finishing off your night with a coffee here is the best way to enjoy it. Meals are served quickly and are really delicious, and the coffee is strong and smooth; just how Italian coffee should be. There's also a really dynamic (and at times eccentric) team here to make your dining experience that much more memorable. It is perfectly located to stay within the city without being right in the heart of the mall. Tick/seal/everything of approval for Pane e Vino.
