This place was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. It is off the beaten path and somewhat of an effort to drive to but it is truly worth it. They do not speak English so make sure you brush up on your Italian. There is no menu and this is not a tourist stop at all. This is where you go if you want to experience southern Italy like a local.
We arrived around 7:30 and the place was empty. Italians eat late and after a while the locals started to arrive and bring the place to life.
The host, manager, owner maybe (??) was very friendly and genuine. There was no menu but that didn't matter. He just kept bringing more and more food out. The food was absolutely amazing, exactly what you imagine true Italian food to taste like.
The biggest surprise was the bill. After countless courses, homemade wine and dessert, the bill said 24 Euros ($27 US)!! I thought it was a mistake but that was it. I cannot wait to eat here again! read more
