I always left feeling my kids were going to safe and that they were going to have fun. When I picked them up, this was always the case. The building is old but there are plans for improvements and upgrades. Please don't discount this program because of the site or location. It is a wonderful place for your children. We have since moved out of Austin and use our experience with St. Mark's as a standard while looking for a new preschool.

He is absolutely in love with Ms. Bonny and Ms. Suzanne (I'm sure he will miss them next year!) and always comes home with new words, phrases, a joyous smile - and ready for nap time :) The facilities are clean and there are lots of activities to keep him occupied (plus a really great playground out back). There are lots of opportunities to get involved if you want - monthly events for kids/parents, lectures from parenting experts, Mother's Day breakfast, etc. but these are also entirely optional. Like many of the parents, we are not part of the church or any religious community but have never felt that this was an issue in any way (as one other reviewer also noted). At the end of the year, we received a beautiful photo album with photos and artwork from throughout the year; it was so touching to know that they had collected these moments/memories with this final project in mind and I think is symbolic of how children and parents are treated here. I know my son is not only well taken care of but also cherished as a little human being and am so grateful for the wonderful staff who make him feel loved. I found the place thanks to Yelp and noticed there are not a lot of recent reviews so here I am - if you're lucky enough to get a spot here, don't hesitate to enroll!

The care and the love that comes off of him are spots on. So Mr. Ariel and Ms. Dani should be 100% recognized for their fantastic work. In 2024 so far many violations including untrained teachers. We are thriving at our new school and it's cheaper, staff is nicer (communicates at least without snapping) and is a safer place for our little one. Our child was diagnosed with ASD and ADHD after leaving FSCS. That said, FSCS never suggested that his behaviors might be due to some sort of developmental delays or neurodivergence. For the cost, I'd think/hope/expect that they would have someone on staff that would be able to help parents identify these types of "issues" early on but it was never suggested that his "behavior issues" might be something to take a longer look at. It was never part of ANY conversation that he/we might benefit from an evaluation for ANYTHING. We were just told (REGULARLY (almost daily)) about behavior issues. So, if you're into paying a premium to be shamed as a caregiver or being made to feel like a less than amazing parent, I encourage you to send your loved one(s) to FSCS.

When my registration information was collected I was told that my child got into camp. A week later I was called and told that my child was on a huge wait list and that they didn't get into camp. Of course this meant it was too late. All the other sessions of the camp were full and I'd booked the rest of the summer. I am really disappointed. They are doing nothing about it other than "fixing thing for next year".

He's developed deeper skills as a writer and his passion for reading and discussing diverse books has expanded tremendously. His classmates are academically curious and creative: they have the opportunity to write, perform, and build for the stage each semester. Their grade-level performance yesterday was incredibly funny and sweet, definitely exceeded my expectations! Overall, Kirby Hall is academically rigorous and welcoming, the teachers and staff are kind, accessible, and open, and the athletics are inclusive, positive, competitive, and well-run by the excellent PE teacher. The teachers and staff know each child so well and work hard to bring out the best in each-- and they chat easily with parents in the hall after school. The education has inquiry-based components, and they take multiple field trips each semester. The academic offerings for upper grades are constantly evolving as they are building a thoughtful and unique middle school. Most faculty have advanced degrees. I can't imagine a better education. I'd recommend Kirby Hall to anyone looking for a well-rounded, rigorous, inspiring education for their child.

It's gratifying to see how staff support and teach kids in ways that I was petrified of or suffered through myself in school. They're on stage in front of the whole school, they make presentations to their class, they have advisory to ask for help, they are learning to read music; I didn't learn a lot of this until after college! Everyone enjoys being there and supporting one another. It's a relaxing and engaging place to be. It's only our first year and we can't believe the difference.

I had to keep reaching out myself just to get updates. What made this experience worse was the final response: I was told the classroom "may not be a good fit," with absolutely no clear or professional explanation as to why. After being ignored, having to chase down information, and then receiving a vague dismissal, the entire situation felt dismissive and questionable. As a single parent and a person of color, this experience did not feel equitable or respectful. At best, this reflects extremely poor communication and lack of professionalism. At worst, it raises concerns about bias in how families are treated.
