Stumbled on this place but what a find. Wait staff was on top of everything. Crab cake was amazing…read moreand all crab, no fillers. Prime rib was exceedingly tasty and had to be bigger than advertised 14 ounces. Then the desserts were awesome also. Piano player made it nice and not too loud where you couldn't hear. Really great location and food. Keep it up.

Why?... Well, while the prime rib beef dinner was still was delicious the portion size of the beef was greatly reduced over what we've had there in the past. Both prime ribs were only about 1/2 inch thick... In the past they have been constantly been 3/4 inch thick and sometimes almost an inch thick. While they were done to our liking, one rare and one medium rare, both were a little on the tough side and not as tender as ones we've had there in the past. It was a chilly night on November 20th and I made a reservation for one of the tables close to the fireplace in the dining room. When we got there, the fireplace was not on. I asked some of the staff whether or not the fireplace could be turned on and they said it was too early. One staff member volunteered that yes, it was pretty cold in the whole dining area. Our server with Bonnie... And she was excellent. The bill for two prime rib dinners, one cup of onion soup, two additional side salads, one iced tea, and one diet cola came to $101 plus tip. Hoping that when I return again on a night when the Carriage House is serving prime rib that both the portion size and the quality will be what I remember from the past, not what I remember from last night.

Over 160…read moreyears later, Glory Ridge Tavern is staging its own unlikely victory -- this time against the low standards of hotel dining. Let's be real, a restaurant attached to a hotel is usually where culinary ambition goes to surrender. Overpriced plates, underseasoned everything, food that tastes like it was cooked in a different zip code. Glory Ridge refuses to yield. The 12oz Delmonico arrived seared to a textbook medium rare, seasoned with nothing but salt and pepper -- because the kitchen clearly knows that great beef doesn't need reinforcements. No butter bath, no unnecessary sauce brigade. Just a beautifully confident cut that held the line from first bite to last. The fish and chips nearly stopped me in my tracks. The tempura batter was gossamer-light -- the kind of delicate, airy crust you'd expect from a specialty tempura shop in Japan, not a lodge in south-central Pennsylvania. And the fish held its heat and texture long after hitting the table, which tells you everything about the technique behind it. Prices are not just reasonable -- they're downright honorable for the quality being served. Glory Ridge Tavern doesn't just survive the hotel restaurant reputation. It crushes it. Gettysburg has seen enough miraculous stands for one address -- apparently it's not done yet.
