They change the breakfast offered to concierge members each year and unfortunately it's less appealing each year. As for the take away lunch food, we were quite surprised to find seaweed salad in the fried Chipotle Chicken Wrap. My family and I visit the Big Island every year and one of our favorite morning rituals has become driving down to Hapuna Beach early in the morning for some snorkeling or relaxing in the beach chairs, followed by the breakfast buffet at Ikena Landing. Somehow our name is even in the system with our favorite table; it's a mystery to me how that happened but I'm so grateful. The spread of the buffet tables, from the omelet station and waffles, to the ochazuke, pastries, fruits, juices and more, the view of the blue ocean and the matching turquoise Chilewich placemats, and yes, even the ruthless hordes of birds that descend upon the tables as soon as you turn around, has become one of our favorite places on the island. Had the best mimosa on my life here - Prosecco and lychee but it was also ice cold with an ice cold glass! Perfect !! This is a restaurant in the Westin Hotel. We had breakfast there every morning. You had the option to order from the menu or opt for the buffet. Price wise and food wise, I thought the buffet was the better deal. We usually go when the restaurant opens. I thought that was best, because if you wait and go at a later time. The lines are longer, and the place fills up. We don't like waiting, LOL. The restaurant is an opened area. It looks out to the pool, towards the beach. It was very nice view and at times, there was a cool breeze. The only problem they had was the little birds. They flew around and try to get food off the tables. If you leave your table, you should either have one person stay to keep watch or cover your food with your napkin. The food was good. They have an omelets and waffle bar, which was nice. Some things weren't great, but you have other options to choose from. The staff were nice and helpful. read more

Enjoyed breakfast here on our last morning. Everyone raved about this restaurant, our experience was okay. We were seating fairly quickly, but after that service was pretty slow and picked up again towards the later part of our meal. Our server was very kind and worked with us to find good options for our daughter with allergies. They charged us $28 for a plain waffle and strawberries. Seemed steep, considering that's what they charge for the banana waffles which were much more extravagant. Everyone enjoyed their meals. They don't do lattes - just coffee. Year after year, my family and I have gone to this particular resort whenever we stay on the big island and every year the staff have always been welcoming, helpful, and sweet!! I love coming here early in the morning and listening to all the local Hawaiian birds sing as you sit, you can still hear the waves crash on the shore, they're very silent but around 7 AM not too many people people are up. Lol. Since I have so many food allergies, I love the buffet here although it's gone up in price over the years. They also have a great menu with numerous options for breakfast and lunch. We always end up getting the buffet just because they have so many made to order items as well as some Asian favorites!! My son and I both love the Waffles as well as their omelettes that are made to order! I am also a sucker for all their delicious tropical Hawaiian pastries, and fresh fruit! The guava juice is really delicious as well as the Lilikoi! I have a pretty weak stomach, and I love the Hawaiian coffee here it's always somewhat of a light roast, which is perfect for my sensitive stomach!! Upstairs there is the Peko Café with a beautiful view of the adult pool/Koi pond as well as the beachfront! So very extremely delicious. The first thing and only thing I recall as being a problem was getting one of their eggs Benedict, they flew out of the dish when they came out. But I got like 5 - again flew out of the dish. It is an open air setting in the middle of the hotel with amazing breezes and views of the ocean. I don't recall how much it was and I think I got a discount bc of my status with Bonvoy but it wasn't cheap, likely in the town of $50 pp. There was everything you could imagine and some self serve juices if I recall correctly. There are a lot of hungry birds too. Omelets made to order, waffles too, all sorts of great items and a nice salad bar with miso soup. All the servers were attentive and extremely friends. We never had to wait for a seat to get in, I think I did have reservations though. read more

Day 3 The Açaí bowl was very refreshing & very good. Photo speaks for itself. The prosciutto arugula eggs benedict is best eaten with the arugula. If you were to eat the arugula as a salad, separately from the benedict it's a little bland. Although we enjoyed the the banana foster waffles again, our son felt it was too sweet as a breakfast dish & not his cup of tea. As always, great service! read more

I take it back!!! Yesterday's breakfast was subpar but today's was amazing!! We had the continental breakfast again plus ordered the Ikena Omelet and the Loco Moco. Everything was fresh and delicious. The fruit was even better! OMELET The omelet was fluffy and filled with all the ingredients we wanted. The hash browns were so good!! It's like they balled up mashed potatoes and coated it with shoestring potatoes then dried it to a crisp. So so so good!! LOCO MOCO Wow! Beautifully plated with big slices of mushrooms in the gravy. The patty was cooked nicely. And the rice!! The rice was so much better than yesterday's. Not sure what tomorrow's breakfast will look like, but according to our waitress, it's hit or miss. I wanted to come here for my birthday to enjoy the breakfast buffet. We were on our way down to the restaurant, but we're stopped in our tracks when we noticed LOTS of birds hanging out by the buffet...like easily over two dozen birds. There was no staff around to swat the birds away, and the birds were relentless! They were eating off of the serving utensils and straight out of the chafing dishes that were not covered completely. I watched in horror as a bird nibbled on a piece of bacon, then moments later a poor customer grabs that same piece of bacon from the buffet line. Gross! It seems like this is an ongoing issue at this establishment as a customer posted a similar review from over 3 years ago. I hate leaving bad reviews but for $45 a person, this place HAS to do better. I didn't check out others review. This is 1 of 3 restaurants located in the Westin Hapuna. The breakfast was included in our vacation package through Costco. I couldn't find anything wrong with the service or the food. My wife had the açaí bowl that was very healthy after her run. My daughters had the kids pancake lollipops with pineapple. My dish by itself was 5 star delicious and unforgettable and not at all calorie free. I had the best banana fosters waffle with shaved coconut, macadamia nuts, strawberries, whip cream, scoop of quality vanilla ice cream, and 1000 smiles for each and every bite. read more

As titanium elite Marriott members, continental breakfast is included. Beautiful pastries and sweet breads and fresh local fruit daily. Service is always very good, staff is friendly and views are spectacular. Today we ordered crisp bacon off regular menu which was burnt. Also, the blackberries in our oatmeal were moldy. We understand not everything can be exemplary all the time. But I would never serve black bacon to a table and still charge $10 for it after we complained about it. read more

Located inside Westin Hapuna beach, this is quite a decent place for breakfast/lunch. If you are Westin's guests, you will be able to get 15% off with your privilage cards when you first check in the hotel. A big plus is they have such a nice view over the Hapuna beach and the pools. The service here was great: friendly and efficient. Our server was helpful when giving suggestion and our water were refilled regularly. However the food is just average; my loco moco looked great but the meat needed more seasoning. The hunter breakfast is a better choice. They also offer buffet menu with more selection as well. Given a small selection of restaurants in the area, I still give this place a 4 star review because pf the service and the view of the Hapuna beach. read more

This breakfast place is overpriced ($38 per person!) but more importantly, it has major health risks!! Do not eat here, save your money. Here is their buffet: - watery omelets - soggy and stale fruits & veggies - old moldy bread - super dry "fresh" honey - birds and insects (especially small fruit flies) freely roam around the open food item (and yes, the majority of them are left open!!) so, the bird flu is just an inch away. There was no quality control on any of the items we tried. After seeing how birds were eating off the serving spoons, I was left with eating boxed items such as yogurt and cereal & milk. Oddly enough there were no expiration dates listed on the boxed items! There are better breakfast places along the highway. Ugh it's so hard to write a 2-star review but here we go... Ikena Landing is located on the 5th floor of the Hapuna Beach Hotel. It's got a gorgeous view of the ocean and we were so excited to eat our last breakfast of our trip here. The restaurant is pricey with a $38 breakfast buffet and entrees running at $22 for a simple breakfast of two eggs, meat and starch. I get that you're paying hotel prices but with the price tag you shouldn't have to wait 30 minutes to get your food and drink. In addition to our food we ordered two bloody Mary's which took an equally long time to arrive and the drink tasted a little watered down since it was sitting for so long to get delivered. If you're in a rush it's best to get the breakfast buffet or let your server know your timeline. read more

Breakfast buffet was included as part of the Costco vacation package for Westin Hapuna, so got to enjoy the daily breakfast without having to drive out for food to start the day Obviously beautiful views in the open air area of the hotel. But the open area invited birds to join in on the meal if ever left the table unattended, they flocked to tables that had just finished/left. But the view and open air makes it all just fine, lol. 4.5 stars Breakfast staff were ultra friendly with aloha spirits and a smile. 5 stars Food had plenty of choices, but not many that are fantastic. - DIY Loco moco = 2 stars - Japanese station didn't have much choice, but my baby enjoyed the rice and miso soup. = 3 stars - Bacon, sausage, scrambled egg offerings were ok. 1st day had so so bacon that wasn't cripsy, but all other days had nice crispy bacons. Sausages I ate one daily since it changed from chicken pineapple, to this or that, but maybe enjoyed just once when it was the regular sausage taste. But good rotation to provide variety for those staying more than a day I guess. = 4 stars - Pastries, breads, oatmeals, potato of the day, pancakes. didn't eat much of those but ok I guess. = 3 stars - Fruits were ok. Pineapples weren't that sweet (I assume not the Dole Hawaiian pineapple that I found out was the sweetest thing while on Hilo side). Tasty papaya. = 3.5 stars - Juices (orange, guava, pineapple, cranberry) standard fare = 3.5 stars - Omelet station had variety of ingredients that you could request. Leave your plate on the counter and they will place on it once ready. There were some tasty salsa types of condiments that added flavors if you wanted. I primarily went for 2 eggs overeasy daily and was always satisfied. = 4.5 stars. - Malted waffles. Highlight of the buffet, ate 2 of these small waffles daily and did not get tired of them. So good with the add on's they had available. My way was to grab waffle or two. Add a little butter, add a little maple syrup, KEY = ADD CRUSHED MACADAMIA NUTS, add a little whipped cream/butter thing. Very addictive with the fresh hot waffles being made. = absolutely delicious 5 stars! Forget the low carb diet when you have these waffles! Try to find package or special where breakfast is included, since it's convenient and a great start to the day in the relaxed atmosphere. Otherwise if paying $30+ or whatever it is X 2 people + keiki, I would suggest driving out for local food instead, even if you have to give up the best waffles ever, lol. read more

We were not staying at the Westin Hapuna but got a sneak peak of this very nice place, fantastic views, and then got tobenjoy the picture perfect Hapuna beach. Yes the food may be repetitive but trust me, having more options is better than rotating hit or miss options. If you want variety, don't eat everything they offer every day. My wife and I decided to celebrate Christmas here with their buffet dinner. The views are great. The service was very good and attentive. However, the food was disappointing. The crab legs were over-salted-- and their were no hand towels/wipes to clean our hands after cracking the shells--the beef was tough and the desserts were average.
