I hate the enormous space IKEA takes up- because of the immediate sense of anxiety I get. I looked up their website so many times to know the exact items I needed to bring some piece of joy with in my chaotic life. With hubby in tow (thank goodness he knows how IKEA rolls!) our Tacoma, and a screenshot of the cubby shelves I need for some serious organizing-- we had a game plan! I went pee as soon as I walked in the building (to eliminate unnecessary back tracking). I asked an employee once we got upstairs where I could find my gems- and off we went. Well, of course we kinda Looky Lou'd at some kitchen ideas- but, that's besides the point! FOCUS!! Found our KALLAX units. Happy that the 2 column shelves were in the warehouses. Bummed, that the one column shelves in the color I wanted were unavailable. But, I needed to snag what I could. Take pictures of your item's labels- if you plan on doing self serve! BAD online shipping and boxing. GOOD phone support. I ordered the Rosenvial mattress protector online. They boxed it up but only taped one side of the box and did not tape the long seams of the box on the other side, resulting in the bedding being exposed to the dirt and grime from the shipping process, and possibly bugs. NO THANKS. They tried to replace it but the same thing happened again. They made the refund easy. Phone support is great. But even so, 5 seconds that the person boxing in the warehouse saved due to laziness, cost me hours and days, and I still do not have a mattress protector. read more

Not a regular customer because it is a drive from our place; but when we go, we are always thrilled and never leave empty handed. Loved the showroom style. One gets ideas on how each piece of furniture fitting together. Pick up the desired items at the self-serve aisles and bring home to play with the new toys by putting them together. I've only eaten in the cafe a few times and usually get the Swedish meatballs. They are always so good with mashed potatoes and peas. I noticed they had a $3 deal for the plant balls (pea protein) and veggie balls. I ordered them with the veggie medallions, gravy and lingonberry. I had no idea they would taste so good. The friendly cashier mentioned some breakfast deals too and free coffee if you sign up for IKEA Family card. Now that I know about all these great cafe deals through August I'll be back try some new things. This review is for the half off Friday menu at the restaurant. Food is solid, reliable, filling, and tasty. Swedish meatballs, plant balls, cod. I love lingonberry sauce. All this for half off is a steal. But OMG THE CAKE. The restaurant's chocolate cake is something I have always gotten and it's a solid, classic chocolate cake. Cannot go wrong! Seriously so simple and so delicious. During my last visit I tried their almond chocolate butterscotch cake and I still think about it. It was quite literally the best cake I've had in a while. ZERO STARS. I received a $10 off coupon for my birthday and used it to buy two large IKEA 365+ glass food containers online, to be shipped to my house. When I received them, both glass containers where shattered -- they were poorly packaged. I went to my nearby IKEA store today to exchange the containers but was told I could only get a refund. That was not acceptable to me because I would then lose my $10 birthday coupon. I was told that was the only option and I should buy two more and talk with the cashier about it. OK -- fine. I talked to the cashier about my $10 coupon and he said I needed the original coupon, which I did not have. So, I ended up paying $10 more than I should have for these items. VERY bad customer service and a waste of my time. ADDENDUM: I did the IKEA online chat to see if I could get resolution--I asked that the $10 gift coupon be reissued since IKEA took it away from me. That was a no-go: "I am so sorry to inform you that but I a not authorised, so that is why I would suggest you to please visit to the store." *This review is for the cafe* Okay WOW. I'm seriously impressed with the overall healthy menu ikea offers and the great price tagged on the dishes here. This store's cafe makes it easy to eat well on the cheap. Before browsing around aimlessly through the store, I decided to get something to eat to fuel my walk through ikea's labyrinth. The way this cafe works reminds me of how your typical school lunch cafeteria is situated. You snake through a line, grab a tray, grab some items that are within reach behind glass displays and if there is an entree you'd like, you order it with a worker. I got the Pea Protein Meatballs and was super excited to try IKEA's veggie take on their legendary meatballs. Suffice to say, I was really pleased! The workers gave me a heap of meatballs topped with buttery gravy, steamed broccoli, mashed potatoes and a small spoonful of jam on the side. Everything was perfect and was the perfect fuel for my trip! The portion was actually really hearty and I was only able to eat about half. Now, I didn't know that ikea also has a bistro in the area for after you pay, and that eatery has an entirely different menu. I DEFINITELY want to try that out next time! read more

There are a lot of options to choose from, they are beautifully displayed on the floor, reasonably priced, and there is always somebody on the floor who can answer your questions. As I advance in age, IKEA has lost its luster. Fading is the amazement for its massive scale, seemingly endless aisles of affordable goods, affordable furniture, and of course incredibly cheap food. This location is situated in Mission Valley near Lowe's and Costco. It's a bustling plaza but there is ample parking if you don't mind a short stroll. In past visits, I'd grin with excitement at the thought of an IKEA adventure. Now I go in preparing to wait and navigate countless sections en route to locate what I need then check out. Today, we needed to return something and found ourselves in a 20 minute queue. Take note: there is a kiosk/QR code check-in to place yourself in line. In theory, this is great and allows you to peruse while waiting. In practice, it wasn't clear to folks who didn't see the sign. I was fortunate enough to notice and tell those next to me, however, others ended up getting jumped in line. The team could improve this process by bringing more visibility to the kiosk and QR code with signage or even an additional staff member as resourcing allows. I digress. This remains SD's location, so if you need to go to IKEA, by all means go. The selection is incredible and convenience versus ordering online is great. Pricing is reasonable. And don't forget about the epic food offerings. read more

I've been coming to IKEA for home furniture and other household needs for years so this review is a bit delayed, yet applicable. The store pretty much has everything you could possibly need in a home. They have furnitures like chairs, desks, couches, beds, nightstands, and tables. They even have rugs, curtains, beddings, kitchen tools and kids toys. There are so much more! I love that they display items in showrooms so customers can see the products in a setting. I find it helpful as I can get ideas on how to display the items in my own home. I went to the store yesterday to buy a dresser for my daughter. We were in and out in no time. The products are neatly organized, labeled and placed by sections, so items can be easily found. Each item will have a tag containing the item name, dimensions, price, and location. For example, the dresser I got is called KOPPANG. At the bottom of the tag, you'll see the label saying Aisle 1, Bin 64. This is the location of where you can grab one for yourself. The bigger items, such as the dresser I got, are stored in shelves right before the checkout. You can make your way to aisle 1, find bin 64, and find the unassembled dresser in box(es). Depending on the size of your item, it'll come in a single or multiple box so it's best to be aware of that to make sure you grab all the parts before checking out. This specific dresser came in two boxes. Their products are pretty inexpensive in comparison to other furniture stores. I must note my dismay with this particular purchase. I originally saw this item two weeks ago priced at $99.99 but was sold out. I have been keeping track on their website and saw that they finally have it in stock again so I went back to the store but found the item price had gone up to $129.99. Do keep in mind that a lot of the items are not made of solid wood but what seems to be particle board, which is no problem for me. They are pretty sturdy and could last years if taken care of. They have an amazing cafeteria! Sometimes, I just come to IKEA to browse and have lunch with friends since the food is fairly inexpensive and you actually get a decent meal. Their Swedish meatballs are pretty popular, which is what I typically get. It comes with mashed potatoes, some kind of vegetables(green peas this time), and lingonberry sauce. I've been an IKEA customer for over 20 years!!! I need an anniversary party and large loyal customer discount!! My shopping started as a 17 year old buying furniture for cheap for my first place, discovered the Swedish meatballs somewhere along the way. While I have evolved from most of the furniture they sell, there are a few items I shop for that I consider staples in my house. - their white and grey dish sponges: I'm not entirely sure what they're made of, but they last a considerable amount of time and don't get stinky! - their "ziplock" bags: these bags come in all sizes imaginable, while they might not have the easy zip closure as competitive brands these bags are STURDY! They also keep a great seal in the freezer. - cutting boards: I get their 2 pack white cutting boards, super good price and great when needing to replace. - the majestic Swedish meatballs: best way to cook them at home is in a steamer, I use the steaming basket in my rice cooker and they come out to perfection! - their something berry sauce: that sweet berry sauce used with your Swedish meatballs in the cafeteria is also in their pantry section. Forget cranberry sauce for thanksgiving, get this stuff, it's amazing! Storage solutions are great here, and the desk/office sections are amazing. So many combinations you can make out of them, I recently converted a room in my home and used all ikea stuff in there for a gaming room! Came out FREAKING awesome! Outside of that, check their discount section for treasure finds on your way out The only pieces of furniture from ikea outside the gaming room that I have at home are the HEMNES dressers. These are great, look good and are sturdy as long as you build them well. I've had mine for almost 10 years. I've tried replacing them to something different but each time I shop for dressers I find that the drawers are never deep enough so you can't fit as much clothes in them. I've checked out so many furniture stores, without wanting to spend $3k on a dresser these do the job well On the not good side: return policy, it's probably one of the worst return policies in any store in America. You ABSOLUTELY need your receipt. While I don't shop there much anymore to need to return things, but if you're like me that you buy stuff, stash it away and then think oh man! I don't need this, or never mind, but loose receipts. Forget it. It's yours. You keep it or try your luck at fb market place because ikea isn't taking it back. No SIR! However, I came up with the clever idea to create a fb group for SD for ikea resales :) Also, ikea hacks! Been wanting to do some for sometime to create built ins in closets and a hallway, but it appears that ikea doesn't carry a lot of stuff in stock like before, making it hard to get the project going because no one ever knows when said items will be back in stock. I noticed this since C19 hit, it's like they never got back on track with their logistics. And recently received an email from them about the ikea family 5% discount being a thing of the past. This is a complete shame and bad move on ikea. I get inflation is through the roof but, the profits are still pretty high at a place like this. IKEA family perks are slowly dwindling away, are we even family anymore? Well, overall I still think the good outweighs the bad, it's still a very good store for budget friendly shopping for home goods, there's from very cheap to expensive. As for assembly there hasn't been a piece of furniture I haven't been able to put together on my own, they do excel in making instructions very clear and easy to follow. I wanna be a family again, bring back the kiddy daycare and our discount! I tried to use IKEA. They offered an on-line consultation for closet design. I set up my appointment and received several reminders, including a call the Friday before. So I was very surprised when no IKEA person showed up for the meeting. I waited for 15 minutes then called their customer service line. That person had me on hold for another 15 minutes. I had reserved a "Surprise Bag" through TooGoodToGo, and even though I arrived close to closing time, I was told everything was already closed and they had nothing to give me. I showed them the confirmation on my phone, which clearly stated I had paid for the order along with the date and confirmation number. The employee I spoke with was polite, but the interaction felt uncomfortable. Someone in the back was making hand signals and mouthing words to her while I was standing right there, instead of addressing me directly. I understand that they might have run out of food--it happens, and I can easily request a refund from TooGoodToGo. What bothered me was the lack of hospitality. It felt like they didn't want to serve me simply because it was closing time or because I wasn't a "typical" customer. I'm not upset about the food; I'm disappointed in how the situation was handled. Your first name and last initial will appear on the monitor on the higher wall. You'll see 3 seconds away next to your name. No wait time at all. Cool that is faaass... Then you'll see 2 minutes, 4 minutes, even freakin' 25 minutes!! Then you are called. I even completed the suggested link sent via text to expedite the exchange. I scanned my receipt, put in the order # and was ready to expedite my return. The rep was totally confused about this process. Said he never seen it. Seems like IKEA has some training to do. And trust me, this was no employee shortage. There were three reps. I was number three in line and it took 25 minutes. Do not get misled and think your return will be fast. Naaaaw! Haven't shopped here in a long minute. What I found a bit inefficient was certain items (cabinets) were not available in store. You would have to come in, get a barcode scanned, pay, and then drive three miles down the road to an IKEA warehouse to pick it up. One would think you could purchase the said item online but they were not accepting online payments at the time and noted they were pushing their payments to a third party provider. The cabinet itself is fine; however, why have it stored at a separate facility? My understanding also is this IKEA is small compared to other IKEA stores across the nation. If you have the time and the will to walk the store following the arrows on the floor you will have an amazing experience. Ikea has something for everyone. Many items will come in boxes that you will need to assemble when you get them home so hopefully you are handy with screwdrivers, nuts and bolts. Remember the 50 cents hot dog at IKEA food court? That's what drove people here most of the time. I remember a line of people with shopping carts going to the warehouse, and as the line moving along, you will stop at different sections or departments to get stuffs that you want, it's like you're going on a tour at the museum, and it was fun. I guess Covid changed all of that, now you can go in as you please, IKEA is a European company, do their products are a little different in styles and quality, but you never known what you could find here, still fun to do, maybe not worth to buy unless you are shopping for new furnitures for your new home or something, then when you get to the food court expecting some Swedish cuisine, well the price of inflation changed everything 50 cents hot dog is now $1.25, combo is $4 you get 2 hot dogs and 1 drink, so maybe the deal is better at Costco $2.99 one hot dog one drink and the size is bigger. They have a self check out kiosk now, but half of the food on the menu aren't available to order, hmmm then I won't be able to try any Swedish cuisine like they advertised. I was still on my poster frame projects, they had a beautiful fancy collection of frames, just not the right size for mine, even for the biggest one in store. Again everything here already came in the final products, so if you're hoping to build something from scratches, try a different hardware store. read more
