I normally go to the IKEA in Sunrise but now that they opened up an IKEA in Miami it was actually closer to where I live than the Sunrise location. IKEA sent me a promotion by mail to try out a free birthday meal and a discount for my birthday so I figured it was a good opportunity to come and check out the new IKEA Miami location, stock up on those delicious $2.99 IKEA branded Apple Cider bottles, pick up the new 2019 magazine, and look at some of the new display cases that they have displayed in the store. This location has 2 cafeterias for some reason, one downstairs that sells a limited amount of food like pizzas, hot dogs, ice cream, sodas, water, and juice. The second cafeteria which is larger is upstairs with a larger selection of food and the free birthday meal ticket is redeemed at the cafeteria upstairs. The staff at both cafeterias and the cashier at the checkout were all very friendly and helpful. The food at the upstairs cafeteria was better than the food in the downstairs cafeteria, the food downstairs looked like microwaved pizza and hot dogs while the food upstairs actually looked like it was cooked and prepared by someone. I love how now there are more display case options than the standard Detolf cabinets but IKEA still has alot of catching up to do to match the quality of the display cases that they sell in Japan in stores like AmiAmi. I would still rather have one of the new cabinets like the IKEA Malsjo or the IKEA Syvde over the IKEA Detolf though but maybe the IKEA Billy bookcases with the glass doors is a better and more economical option for people with a large amount of items that they want to display and protect from dust. read more

I love this place!!! First off it's a pit. Yes they sell home goods but it's like no matter your sex, race, or gender you get sucked into this place. The place is massive warehouse size. Large parking garage and lots of places where you can park which is awesome. There's a loading zone where someone can bring the big things out for you or you can park your car load the small stuff yourself. When you walk in there are shopping carts everywhere and large bags for you to shop. The first place you encounter is a place you can drop off the kids. Honestly I've never done it before but I now know I can probably do it for my 6 year old. He got bored half way through ikea. There is everything you can think of for your home in this place. EVERYTHING. Furniture galore, redo kitchens, pots and pans you name it. Best part??? Everything is super cheap and affordable. I've gotten furniture from here before. I really don't understand how people could not like IKEA. What is there not to love? Very reasonable prices for furniture, decor, food, and much more. I visited this location around the time the store re-opened to the public in June. There was a long line in the parking lot to get in, but it moved, and there were employees there to keep it all orderly. Once inside, it was so quiet and pleasant. It always feels so therapeutic to browse around IKEA. I scoped a set of drawers that I thought I might buy, but didn't purchase it at the time. After the fact, I ordered it for delivery from the IKEA website and was pleased to see that "expedited" delivery cost just the same as regular delivery ($49) and it arrived the next day! The one thing that is kind of annoying about IKEA is the assembly instructions. Oftentimes they just display pictures and it can be very confusing and frustrating. This time around I searched YouTube and found some GREAT assembly videos that made the process so much easier. It would be so awesome if they offered an order online and curbside pickup option. read more

I love this location and that I no longer have to drive an hour! I also love their merchandise and prices. Wouldn't say it's all necessarily high quality items but it's definitely appealing to the eye. I never drop off my son anywhere while I shop but I was pleased to do so during our last visit here. My son stayed with a friend in their play area for half hour while us moms shopped for a bit. We were given a phone in case we needed to pick them up ahead of time for any reason (kinda like when you go on a cruise). I like how they have rooms set up, in case you need help with getting ideas. Things look really cheap and uneven in the show room I can't imagine how it would like in my place. Waited more than 30 minutes after closing to finally receive our items and were bypassed by other customers and left on the wait list till half an hour past closing time. At the cashier I asked what the finance amount was for zero interest and the cashier said he didn't know and seemed pleased that I bought just under $500 which if I had spent $500 I would have gotten zero interest 6 months. Also the cashier messed up the scan of my items so the receipt doesn't completely represent what I bought. I'm returning everything the day after I bought because the returns section was closed 30 minutes past closing. The desk area associate said we were rude for asking price questions about the desk and walked off without helping us buy an expensive $1200+ gaming desk with chair combo. We found another associate and that one said the gaming stand was out of stock and that we could be charged $38 or so for shipping and have the items delivered. I declined delivery. On a previous day I bought a dessert sampler plate with three types of desserts on it and then realized the cashier charged me for three dessert plates instead of one. I requested a refund and then the supervisor kept my receipt and initially didn't give me another to replace it until with determination I asked for it then he made a copy and gave me a 8x11" sheet copy from a printer not a reprinted receipt and said their policy was to not give original receipts back when there is a refund. I feel that I was triple charged for 1 dessert. The dessert was on one plate and a sampler. The supervisor said that their specific store had changed their policy to not match other Ikea stores and that their policy was to charge three plates of dessert for one plate of dessert because as he put it.. it was easier for Ikea that way to charge for 3 desserts instead of 1. I complained to the credit card company about this. I will complain further with governing agencies set up by our government to investigate this type of complaint. read more

I witnessed 3 employees in the mens bathroom leave without washing their hands, 2 of them went to pee and 1 used a stall. They never even looked at the sinks, the first supervisor I asked said "oh ok, thanks" and walked away like nothing. My past few visits to Ikea I've left annoyed. The employees don't seem to have much knowledge of their products or sales, and the onus is on the customer to figure it out. Here is an example of a conversation I had yesterday: Me: Where are the rectangular cork mats? Employee: Uhhh??? We have cork circles. Me: No, not the little circular trivets. They're rectangles, in a pack of 4, about this big. ::holds up hands:: Employee: I don't know if we have that. Me: You definitely have that. I bought some yesterday. I just need more and can't seem to find them. Employee: I don't know. Maybe in cooking and eating. I should note that cooking and eating is a huge section. When I asked a second employee walking by, I ended up having almost the exact same conversation as above. It would be nice if the employees were properly trained and educated on the products, or if they would at least be encouraged to demonstrate a helpful attitude rather than seem inconvenienced by questions. It would also be helpful if they were to walk me to the product or section rather than give vague directions in the labyrinth that is Ikea. The restaurant is usually fine, and actually my interactions with the cashiers there have been pleasant. However, when it gets crowded, the tables get overlooked and they don't staff enough people to keep up with the mess, so it gets a little gross. read more

I worked there back in 2009 in Charlotte N.C. A lot of things was going on at that time. A lot of people quit because of favoritism. I was a great employee. I even got to go to Tampa for two weeks and help open up a new store but because of all the favoritism that was going on in the warehouse I had to go find new work because I knew I would never get good raises or move up in the chain of command. I have put in my application many of times to try to go back to what I like doing but I get rejected every time it's because of the team leads in the Supervisor down on the dock they are still there. First off, let's all remember it's friggin IKEA. This is not the Taj Mahal. You should know what you're getting lol it's cheaply made inexpensive furniture and home goods. This is like any other location. It's crazy busy and people are wandering around not watching where they're going. I grabbed a slice of pizza before walking around and they threw it in the oven right when I ordered it so it was hot and gooey and delicious. $2.50 for a big slice and a soda is great! I absolutely hate the weird little carts they have that require one of their yellow bags. Stupid little carts. The big, normal carts are hard to come by which was annoying. Trying to fit all my crap in that funky shaped cart did NOT work out well for me. I'm happy to be an IKEA customer with their sustainable promises and forest positive practices for their products. Bonus, they always have a variety of affordable options. A definite first-apartment-furniture kind of place which has served me well. It won't last you more than a few years, but it's easy to mix and match throughout those years. However, I have found this IKEA to be lacking in staff on the marketplace floor. Shelves are consistently empty in the framing, home decor, and bathroom storage sections, and you are hard-pressed to find an associate who can help you with something that seems to be out of stock in-store, but in stock according to the online indicator. Nonetheless, I love the family events they host here. I am in awe of the new, living plant section that used to not exist. The cafeteria and concession stand are exactly what you needed after 9,000 steps around the showroom and marketplace. And the mini-models throughout the store provide plenty of inspiration. I continue to come back to IKEA because I know what I am in for - affordable furniture decor that I get to put together myself (which I love, because it leaves room for customization)! I want to mention...most recently, I placed an order for my workplace online, with intentions to pick it up in store. This has a fee attached to it, mind you, but I didn't want to go through the trouble of pulling thousands of dollars worth of product. Long story short, it wasn't ready within the time window they provided. The associate was unhelpful in that he couldn't tell us how long we would have to continue to wait, what still needed to be pulled, or anything resembling helpful. And this was after we had spent 2 hours meandering around the store waiting for our pick-up window. As we went to customer service to return the whole order and just go pull items ourselves (as we didn't want to do, but seemed we had to if we wanted to leave the store before 6pm), an incredible associate named Elizabeth took ownership of our issue and helped us determine there was only 2 items that hadn't been pulled. A nightmare to work with. I got a shipment of a dining set that came with 6 missing pieces of hardware. First guy I spoke with opened up an order and said he'd call back in 2 days. He never did and when I called again IKEA verified that he hadn't done anything at. Tip: If you know you have a big purchase to make, then bring your family to the cafeteria to eat on the "Eat for Free" day. They have these special days every couple of months. You buy a ton of food at the cafeteria. Then they staple a special piece of paper with the total amount of food you bought to your cafeteria receipt. Present this paper at final checkout with your ikea goods. They will subtract whatever you already spent at the cafeteria (up to $100) off your purchases. This Ikea is like most other Ikea stores. Nothing special to report. I haven't bought anything extensive from them yet. On a recent visit, I went straight to the first floor instead of the upstairs showroom to pick up a wall file folder holder. They were out! Out?! So I asked a nearby employee who was really unhappy and told me to go upstairs. Huh, upstairs showroom? Ok, so I go up there and they are baffled why first employee told me to go upstairs. They check the computer and "three" are available but nowhere to be found. The only thing memorable from my trip was that I saw a lady's salmon place from the cafeteria and it was the smallest portion of salmon I've ever seen. It was no wider than 1.25 inches. I have been here for over an hour eating a a single piece of furniture. Their service is horrible. I wait 30 min to place the order for pick up because I can't pick it up myself as it's not available like the rest of the pieces. Terrible service. We waited for over an hour to have our item (that we paid for) brought out from the back. Mind you we drove 1.5 hours to get here so we had no choice but to be patient. Finally, we had to leave to head back to the other coast and requested someone check on our item (for the 3rd time). After the 3rd or 4th person looked up our order we were told that because it was on a high shelf they only bring those items down at night. How could no one had told us that from before, during, or after checking out and having so many people "look up" our order. At this point I was in tears because again we drove so far and had waited so long and after all this, no apology and no solutions. We finally had to leave with the employee flippantly telling us they would ship it to us. When would it arrive? He had no idea. Could he give us some sort of receipt guaranteeing this? I paid 60$ for delivery of pieces. That process alone at the store took one hour. The delivery service claimed they were 10-15 mins away and showed up over 35 minutes away. I was right there and less than 2 minutes he was gone. Also rude since the beginning and not offering assistance. Over 25 minutes waiting and looking for him and there was nobody else in the entire floor. Complained to the manager at that moment (11/18/2021 7:45PM) not worried and of course didn't help. Where do i start to express the frustration over iKEA. This isn't for YELPERS to read(since its so freakin long), its for iKEA and it's management to read. i recently had a kitchen designed and built by ikea in their Miami location. The day of the installation, the installer (a very professional company named Traemend) realized that the front doors and top panel in front of the sink were incorrectly ordered by iKEA. What i had was a "Farmers sink" and required another type of doors. The semi-finished kitchen looked very nice except for this gaping hole where 2 doors and a panel were supposed to go. (lived with this gaping hole for 4 months) This is where the it all went to Hell. The installer informed iKEA of their error and they agreed to pay for the cost of going out and installing the correct doors once i returned the wrong ones and got the correct ones. Traemond & i called and emailed many times but not a single response to either one of us. i had to go into the store and filed a request to have iKEA send Traemond out to install the doors, i had newly exchanged. Went home thinking that was that and going in person was the only solution. Two months later after many calls and emails by myself and Traemond, no response from iKEA again. i go in the store a second time only to find out that no such report/request exists. What was i doing with the first associate 2 months prior for an hour and a half???!! i filled another formal report requesting an installation date. A month passed, no phone call, no email and response to any of the many emails and phone calls Traemond and i, once again have placed. i go in a 3rd time and express such frustration and utter disbelief that i am finally CC'd in a group email and finally get an email. On another note: i hadn't seen any brackets in any of the boxes, so i decide to purchase them on my own to install the doors with, just in case. What were they expecting to install them with? i also noticed the 2 doors were 18 inches wide each, yet the full length panel above them was 30inches. i changed it to a 36inch. Shouldn't they had known 18 plus 18 is 36?! just saying. FiNALLY, after 3 months, Traemond comes out and installs my new doors, they install my 36 inch wide panel using those BRACKETS, but there are no door handles for the doors. isn't it obvious the doors need handles??!! i go during lunch from work to buy 2 door handles nobody thought of ordering. i am told going to the department to order them would be quicker then to order them from Customer Service/returns, which is a few feet away from the merchandise warehouse where everything is kept. They inform me it would take 40 minutes to get me the handles, if i chose to order there. They apparently want to torture me further by making me walk through that ridiculous store layout (a rat-maze). i wait an hour and a half, inquiring twice, as to why the delay for 2 small door handles. An associate then informs me the UPC code used on my item has changed/expired and they have to re-order the part. i angrily tell them i don't expect to be kept waiting as if this was a brand new order. i do end up waiting 2 hours for 2 door handles, but was entertained by other customers going postal over their own gripes. One video i took shows a customer screaming and about to punch somebody. i don't have any complaints about the employees there. They are almost like STEPFORD-WiVES of RETAiL. They are nice, polite, articulate, courteous. iKEA is the problem. A black hole is where everything goes to once you leave their premises. You have to walk the entire store just to get a dish rag, or a little lamp, you don't get a bag to put the things you just spent money in their store in ... you have to buy the bag or juggle them to your car. i am even okay with these little Orwellian inconveniences, i am not ok with spending over $13,000 on a kitchen and then having to go into the store 4 times to get an answer or a "message received". Unfortunately, i owe iKEA $7000 still, so this is like an ugly divorce where you have kids. i have to still deal with iKEA for some time. There i feel better (but not about iKEA) read more
