I can't say I'll be sad when IKEA comes to Brooklyn. Elizabeth is quite the trek for me. I do appreciate the prices here, but am a little put off by the lack of customer service. No real complaints though. I actually like walking around and looking at some of the model apartments and rooms. Great place to lallygag. read more

I am so impressed with the renovations made to this IKEA! They have totally re-vamped the showroom and marketplace, displaying the items and inspiration beautifully! My husband and I love the family-friendly atmosphere, the food, and the fun shopping experience at IKEA. The employees treat us like family, and we are so glad to be part of it. Applause to the team of designers who made this IKEA look so awesome and function like a dream. read more

I am beyond appalled at this IKEA. My roommates and I ordered stuff from here for our new apartment, they had all our items in stock, that was no problem. Since we live in NY, we had it delivered and then assembled. 75% of my stuff was either damaged in delivery, broken entirely (big hole through the bed), or the wrong item entirely (they had the wrong labels on it). 25%-50% of my roommates' stuff was also damaged in delivery or broken. Ridiculous. The agony we had to suffer through to get replacements and wait for crap was not worth the reduced tax. read more

Ikea scheduled a delivery for me for Sunday and charged me for an overnight delivery. I waited around for 5 hours and no one showed up or called. Two days later and no one answered my email or answered my calls. I spent over 2 hours on hold so far and still no updates. I asked if they could call me back when they had an answer and they said no they can only receive calls. What terrible terrible terrible service read more

More than half of the furniture in my house is from Ikea. I've always liked their products and don't regret any of my purchases. That was until I decided to purchase the Kivik sofa and paid for delivery and assembly. We went to the correct bay and purchased the corresponding boxes that went along with the Ikea sofa. I could fit the sofa cover in my car so I brought that home with me while I arranged for Ikea to deliver the frame and cushions of the sofa. A week later, the delivery driver calls me on the morning of delivery to ask if he can come at 9 am while my delivery window was between 12pm and 6 pm. I said, "No I'm not home, how about we stick with the delivery window of 12 and 6?" Fine, the delivery guy said he'd be there promptly at 12 pm and I cut my plans short with friends to be home at 12 pm. Two hours later, no Ikea yet so I call the delivery guy to ask where he is and he curtly responded that the delivery window was between 12pm and 6pm. No explanation, no apology for already being two hours later than he said he would be there. It wasn't until 6:45 pm until the delivery guy and his partner arrived. Again, no apologies or explanations for being late and I had to deal with two strangers in my house. While they were putting the loveseat together they realized that I had ordered a sofa as the cover I purchased was too large for the loveseat. They assured me that if I called Ikea for help, this would get sorted out and they told me not to worry, "This stuff happens ALL the time." After calling Ikea that night and waiting on hold for an hour, I was told I needed to go to the store to solve this problem. So, the next day I left work to get my mixed couch problem fixed. I spoke to Manager Jorge Rios who displayed a total lack of listening ability and showed nothing but apathy for my problem. All he did was blame me for taking the wrong box for the sofa I was purchasing. He did not have an answer when I explained why the cashier didn't bother to ask why a person would purchase a sofa cover with a loveseat frame? Nor did Jorge offer anything in the way of making my problem better. How does a company like Ikea not have a control in place to keep someone from buying a loveseat with a sofa cover? Again, this question seemed to be too complex for Jorge to answer. There was no offer to compensate me for mixing up my delivery. He repeatedly said I understand but he didn't really listen to me or care that when I left Ikea after an hour that I was still unsatisfied. One week later, the correct couch (the sofa) was delivered and the loveseat was returned to Ikea. It was not until about month later that I finally received my refunded. If you buy from Ikea Elizabeth, do yourself a favor and skip on having them deliver it to you. Rent a truck or find a friend with a vehicle you can borrow to transport your purchase. IKEA customer service is a joke and the employees at IKEA Elizabeth do not care. Better yet, go to any other Ikea location instead. read more

IKEA - This is what Ikea delivery and assembly looks like. - Furniture Stores Near Me - Elizabeth, New Jersey

This place is disgusting. -It's in a less than appealing part of NJ -The store itself is dirty and unorganized -Nothing was worth coming for, as the furniture and everything else was either ugly or rummaged through -Customer service reps nowhere to be found in a store that is as confusing and poorly laid out as they come I'll NEVER go back to this place and if I could give it zero stars, I would. Spend a little extra cash and get something nice that hasn't had a billion peoples' dirty paws on it. read more

I'm done dealing with Ikea unless it's something that I can carry out in my own two hands and that I know for a fact is the correct item. We've recently had to move to a new town and the furnished apartment we've rented turns out to not be furnished with anything that is remotely comfortable, attractive or not held together with duct tape. Of course, our landlord doesn't give a blank and we're stuck with this place for the next 9 months. So we drove all the flipping way to Elizabeth to get some cheap furniture and stuff we wouldn't mind selling at the end of our lease. We were able to go on a weekday and honestly, the store wasn't that crowded. We got to have a decent lunch without tons of people and kids running around, so that was a plus. 50% of the staff was really nice and helpful and the other 50% could care less about you and your incredibly simple question like "where do we set up home delivery?" I know, what a horrible thing to ask and how dare I interrupt your bs'ing with your friend to ask it. So, we get our sofa, coffee table and recliner and arrange for the delivery the next day to our town between 6-10pm. This is confirmed on the delivery agreement. Guess when they show up? 3pm. And they call me all irritated that I'm not home to take delivery. No, I'm in a movie because you people aren't supposed to be there for 3 hours. I leave the movie and go home to let them in. No apology, no nothing but indifference. Great. At least I have my stuff. NOOOOOO! Instead of the sofa, they've brought a loveseat which we discover only after opening the box. I call customer service and speak with K. and she's apologetic about the mix up with the delivery time, which she confirmed in the system, and will refund the delivery fee! Awesome! She will also arrange for the pickup of the loveseat and will swap it out for the sofa. Double awesome! All we have to do is fax the credit card authorization form to her which she emails right away. Gosh, Ikea just rocks! NOOOOOOO! The fax machine number we've been given doesn't work. It doesn't work repeatedly. I call back K who never answers the phone and doesn't respond to our voicemails or emails. The next day, again I call K who said she was going to be in all day. Never an answer. No response to email. I give up and call customer service again and speak with J. (Insert having my phone call dropped twice and rerouted to the main menu after being on hold forever a total of three times.) J. can't find K either and doesn't know why the fax isn't working but will have someone check on it and we should try it again. She'll call us back in two hours and gives us her extension in case we don't hear back. We spent the entire day trying to fax our form so that we could have our stuff tomorrow. We don't have a fax at home, so we have to go into my husband's office each time to do it. J NEVER returns any of our three phone calls. Now we're past the delivery window for tomorrow and I'm assuming we'll be going through this same nightmare again tomorrow and the next and so on. If I could fit this stupid loveseat in my car, I'd take it back myself but now I'm staring at this huge box in my tiny living room and thinking about torching it just for fun. I think Ikea customer service is where Comcast reps begin their training is hostility and indifference. read more

Everybody knows everything about Ikea's products and prices so there's no reason to comment on them. Ditto the meatballs and the meatball line. I was never interested in the meatballs until I read about the added horse meat. Let's get real, folks. It's not Trigger or Mr. Ed they were serving. Everybody commented on the rudeness of the employees which made me envious. If only I could have found an employee to be rude to me I would have had a chance to ask a question. Of course the check-out line was endless and it didn't help matters much that the cashier at the end of my line was busily engaged in animated conversations with fellow employees and customers. She even had the time to pick up an adorable toddler. But the most irritating moment came when she asked me about the plastic milk bottle that I purchased in the food court. It was empty. It's unusual name is the same as my son's and for his amusement, I collect products with his name on them. Only when I returned home, did I see that she had charged me for it. Did she think I had sneaked the bottle out of the food court because I wanted to pay for it elsewhere? What to do? I sent an e-mail to customer service, outlining the problem and giving them information from the receipt that made it easily trackable. Very quickly I received a reply telling me to hold onto the receipt and bring it with me the next time I go there. They assured me that an employee will attempt to help me. Are they kidding? Stand on another endless line and one of their rude clerks won't actually help me but will attempt to help me? I vastly amused myself by responding in an e-mail that only contained questions. Not a bad deal for $2.99. I'm waiting for their response. read more

Two words summarize my feelings about this place: Never Again. First, the store was designed like one of those silly scientific experiments where mice have to run through a maze to find cheese. Except in this case, people are the mice and the cheese is the furniture (nevermind the fact that finding the furniture is only half the battle - actually getting it is another). Additionally, they make you walk through the entire store, regardless of whether the item you're looking for is at the very beginning or very end. Second, the store does an amazing job of replicating the feeling of being in a never-ending traffic jam. The combination of narrow, winding walkways and slow, lumbering shoppers, makes for an infuriating experience. Third, for a store with thousands of items, you'd expect there to be a comprehensive directory or staff available to help you find certain items (in my case, i was looking for patio furniture). Instead, the store guide is poorly conceived and finding competent help is like finding a liquor store that doesn't sell malt liquor in elizabeth (though, i could have used some malt liquor after my experience at this store). In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this store, unless you're a masochist read more

POOR costumer service. No respect for the Ikea costumers. There is always a discrepancy between the information that costumer service give you and and the information that people working in the store give you. They told me that to get refunded the only thing I needed to do was to give the last 4 digits of my debit card the day they call me. When they called me , I was working and and could not pick up. Then the next day, I decided to call costumer service at 8888884532. I spoke with a representative ( name start with ""A", female) and she decided to contact the Elizabeth store. The people working in the Elizabeth store told her that the only way I can get refunded is if I go to the store. I explained that it was very difficult to me to do this since I work a lot and is very far from where I leave. I ask her why it not possible. She said because the "lines are not secure" ( referring the the telephone lines). Another incident happened with an ex- employee about a week before of the second incident. His name start with "J" and middle name with "L". He worked in the delivery service in Ikea ( Elizabeth, NJ) . I ask him : "In case I cancel the delivery service, how late I can do this". He replied: "Just let them bring the furniture to your home and cancel it at the door". The next day I went to the store to confirm the information was NOT true. I confirmed with another Ikea employee that it was a lie. He lie to me. There is no respect for their costumers. What a shame. read more

I bought the Trysil bed and the brimnet wardrobe. I got the service of delivery and assembling by Ikea. The people who helped us at home and in the store we're good. Unfortunately my headboard had scratches at three places. Also my wardrobe had a dot of discolored paint which was visible due to the location. I payed full price for all the stuffs and they couldn't give me good finishing furniture. When I went to the store they will come and pick it up and assemble back. Which is time consuming and I dont have time for that again! Who has time to spend again and again on the same stuffs ! Ikea should look at their products before selling them. read more

It had been awhile since I set foot in an IKEA but I'm furnishing a new apartment and it seems almost unavoidable as a young adult to make at least some purchases here. My experience at the store as pretty decent. I made a list in advance online so I knew that all the items I wanted were in stock and where to locate them. Nonetheless, I wanted to check out a few pieces before finalizing my purchases. I think the worst part of the shopping experience was the state of the different display rooms. Furniture was just pushed all over the place, in aisles, and clustered together, etc. it wasn't great. It could certainly have done with some organizing. While staff was scarce, the people I dealt with were all friendly and knowledgable. Thankfully it was a Monday so the loading area was not too busy, nor was the store! Overall, I was generally pleased with my visit! read more

It's an Ikea. Really, if you've been in one, you've been in them all. Try to avoid going on the weekend if you can; the place gets incredibly crowded and maneuvering around lolly-gaggers can be frustrating. Each time I come here, the table that I want is out of stock. And wouldn't ya know, they don't sell it online. Figures... Good thing it's never the only thing I'm shopping for here. My advice? Check the store's inventory online if you know what you're purchasing before you go. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble (and tolls if you're visiting from NY) by doing so. Just checked up on the bar table I wanted: "This product is out of stock at your selected store. At the moment the expected delivery date is unavailable." Looks like I'll have to drive to the one in Brooklyn if I really want it. Lame. read more

I'm not afraid to admit it - I love IKEA. I love the funky designs, the smell of cheap fiberboard furniture and greasy meatballs filling the air, and the maze-like pathways of the behemoth store. Whenever I look at my home and go, "I could use a desk / cabinet / etc", this is my first stop. Why? Because I don't need to deal with sleazy furniture salesmen who jack up the price of a cabinet by $300 so they can "haggle" it back down. Nope, what you see here is what you get, and you'll probably have to put it together yourself from 4 flat packed boxes. Clear a space on the living room floor, crack open a beer, and build it yourself - it's actually kind of fun! Now, this store is *designed* so that you get lost. After all, they want you to look at all their showcases, showing off their clever designs for cramming as much storage into minimal spaces as possible, while still somehow looking decent. There's maps available at the start, and nice little pencil / paper stations to write down the item codes of whichever furniture you like (more on that later). There's a restaurant upstairs as well, serving up all sorts of Swedish foods, which I'm not ashamed to admit is about 25% of the reason I make the drive up here. Those meatballs with gravy and lingonberry juice / jam is a tasty treat, and marks the halfway point of your journey through the store, all with a neat view of Newark airport. They even have a kid-watching service for parents who don't want their 4 year old bouncing on all the furniture while they shop - pretty cool. Downstairs is where you grab a cart and try not to buy too many kitchen wares, light bulbs, etc. Once you're out of the final labyrinth, you head into the warehouse where you fetch your flat-packed boxes of furniture that you wrote down earlier. The shelves are well arranged and labeled, and it's simple to find your stuff and get out. The lines can move a bit slow at times, but hey, it's a popular place. There's ANOTHER store area on the way out, selling all sorts of Swedish foods for you to take home, as well as cheap hot dogs for a quick snack. The only downsides I can think about this place is that parking can be a nightmare at times, and it can seem impossible to find someone if you need assistance. Also, some of the cheapest of the cheap items are, well.. cheaply made. You get what you pay for, don't expect your $150 "Krappe" couch to be an heirloom that you pass down to your kids, and be glad if it lasts you 5 years. I'm pretty sure 75% of my home is decked out in cheap stuff from here, and probably more to come in the future. read more

I'm going to assume that you're familiar with their furniture. Cheap in every way, but practical and functional for anyone on a small budget. But God... the customer service people are not only inept, as many have already mentioned, but their laziness borders on self-righteous. Pretty satisified to get of the items here. IKEA is one of the best stores I would shop for simple room decorations and furniture.

Great items; great price. I love coming here and looking at the displays for inspiration for my apartment. They offer the best ideas, the best prices and they are located everywhere. What terrible customer service. Let me state that I have spend lots of $$$ here. And frankly rarely ever returned anything. I came here to return some benches that just didn't work for my space. I didn't have a receipt and so was fine with just getting a store credit since I was going to buy a replacement seating for the benches I was returning. Ikea claims to have a liberal return policy so I didn't think it would be a problem. When I get to the return booth the lady working there told me she couldn't take the benches because they were out of packaging, their return policy doesn't say anything about a return having to be in original packaging; (not to mention who saves large packaging like that? ) and she looks at the label and says the code on it means it's over a yr old and can't be returned. Well this contradict what their written policy in the wall says. So I challenge it and she send a manager who is incredibly rude and tries to made us feel like we are some sort of scammers. He basically yells at us and walks away and sends another another manager who says they will give us store credit but needs to find the current price. Then returns telling us she can only give us $35 for $78 dollars benches, because that was the lowest price she claims they were once at ( although the current price is actually $78 still in both the store and website) at that point my husband was really getting mad and we had already wasted about 30 minutes with all the back and forth. I accepted the $35/ bench in store credit even though I'm sure she was just lying to me about the benches having been that deeply marked down at any time. As much money I have spent at ikea I feel pretty disgusted by being treated so grossly by their customer service dept. i can see a time when they will loose customers if they don't appreciate them in this competitor retail market. read more

Love Ikea, we came here a few times for some cheap home improvements. However, they aren't very good at telling customers when product is coming in. The first time we came, we found a pull out bed that we really liked, but it was oversold. The staff member we talked to told us there were 70+ coming in 2 days later, and we didn't have to call ahead as they would definitively have it in stock. Two days later, we came back and the store was out of stock again (another staff member told us only 5 beds came in that day). Thank goodness they were able to check the inventory of other IKEAs, and we ultimately ended up buying what we wanted from the Paramus IKEA. read more

When moving to Manhattan I ordered most of my furniture online with Ikea - figuring how could a furniture store screw up a futon. Well within two weeks of sleeping on the "Beddinge" the slats of wood that served to support the mattress began popping out. Every time I made the slightest movement, four or five would pop out and the mattress would sag to the floor. It was a piece of crap. When I called to report my problem I was told I could have a refund and "just throw the bed out" - what the heck kind of company tells you to throw out their merchandise and then give you your money back - guess that proves how crappy their merchandise is. I also bought a "Billy Bookcase" that took me about three days to put together - it had more screws than a porn star. It's literally throw-away furniture. read more

I've shopped at many different IKEA locations, but I was very disappointed with this IKEA at every turn. I just moved to New Jersey and wanted to order some furniture to be delivered to my apartment two weeks from then. I was charged for shipping, to get the furniture from the warehouse, and assembly. That is all fine, but when I asked the employees any questions, I was always given the wrong information. My main point is that EVERYONE I encountered at this IKEA was so rude. The man in charge at the warehouse told me to go all the way back to the showroom to get numbers of the furniture when he was well able to look them up for me. I was by myself, but he insisted I get the furniture myself to save $40, nearly sustained a back injury until a nice stranger offered to help. I was charged an extra $70 to store my furniture because I wanted it delivered after one week (i asked about this, and the previous employee told me otherwise). I opted for the 9am-1pm delivery window, and they called 20 minutes after 1 to say they will be 2 hours late. The workers in the restaurant were incredibly unfriendly.
