I found dr b from doing very extensive searches for holistic veterinarians and searching their backgrounds etc. trying to make the best choice for my baby, who can help get her on the right track and a good plan since she was 13 1/2 and I wanted to extend her life naturally providing for her the best I can. Dr Basko got on her plan right away, he wasted no time. A couple days after the phone consult he had a 2 part treatment plan ready for her. Part one- was a lot of detailed explanations what was going on inside and different ways we can fix it. Part two- was the treatment plan with links to all supplements and foods, shakes to make for her liver, trust me he knows his stuff. But it with a heavy heart that I write... that while I was collecting all the supplements for her to take and get her started on the right foot, she was brought to the hospital here in LA for anemia, and internal GI bleeding. Unfortunately long story short my baby, my best friend, my world did it make it out of the la hospital, the only reasoning for her death they gave us was: collapse. That's it no other explanations. I informed dr b and his team that unfortunately despite our best efforts to fix lulu and her health it was just too late, and I felt super disturbed by the no explanation from the la hospital which i stressed to him. I could not believe it, Dr Basko emailed me back and actually CARED to help me understand what happened to my baby, and get me the clarity I need. Versus her vet in LA who never even said he was sorry for my loss. Dr Basko is a kind, caring, patient and compassionate doctor who TRULY cares about animals, all animals. She asked me if anyone was suicidal and I told her maybe it was my crazy/violent neighbor who lives downstairs. I told her my blind dog had a fall and was still recovering. She said my dog's accident was not an accident and my dog intentionally tried to kill himself and was ready to end his life now. I had sent her his health history and photos. She said she read the health history I sent her but I spent a portion of the call repeating the information I had already sent her. After the session, I made several vet appointments and they could not find anything that would be causing him the kind of pain Anya said he was in. I decided to schedule with an animal communicator that my friend has used for years and the session was completely different and my dog was not trying to end his life. This person shared things with me that confirmed she was communicating with my dog. I regret wasting the money to meet with Anya because she was not connecting with my dog and gave me inaccurate information. Then I spent hundreds of dollars taking my dog to the vet based on the information she provided. Luckily, I did not end my dog's life based on the information from my session with Anya.

The technicians are genuinely caring and clearly loved by my dog, which says a lot. We primarily use Hale Ola Pet Hospital for nail grooming services. A nail trim with buff is $35, and tipping isn't expected, which is another plus. They also offer a 5% military discount, which helps bring the price down. Beyond nail care, we've visited Hale Ola Pet Hospital for a teeth cleaning estimate, veterinary care when my dog had a large bump on her neck, and a microchip procedure. Each visit was timely, thorough, and fairly priced. Overall, it's been a great experience every visit, and we're thankful to have a vet so close to home. Highly recommend!! :)

At the time we visited her for general things + acupuncture for my dog Nala. She was always calm and gentle with her which is so appreciated because she is a little spicy one (or can be) We even had her for Nala's end of life - she knew I didn't want to give up if I'm able to save her and she allowed us to come back and make my decisions after leaving VERC.

My first two calls to Kapaa Animal Clinic around 230pm, the woman told me to give my dog Gatorade and that she would talk to the vet and call me back. She said my dog was having common symptoms of eating / drinking something bad and that she'd proably be fine. Her tone and sighs over the phone gave me the impression i was over reacting to common bloody stool issues and i backed down my panic. I trusted her to call me back. I called again an hour later, she had not talked to the vet but she said would right away. Agan, no call back and they closed for the day at 6pm when i called again. I tried to call the emergency line multiple times. I had hope that based on her experience that the woman was correct, that my dog was having a normal stomach problem and could hang on til morning. At 2 am i finally got an answer to come in. But my sweetie died at 2:30am of dehydration. She needed fluids... She most likely could have been saved. They charged me $200 to hand me my dog in a paper bag 2 weeks later. I will never forgive myself for trusting that woman to call me and for trusting that my dog was having common symptoms and would be ok. She gave me her MEDICAL OPINION AND ADVICE THAT LET ME DOG DIE. I was only apolozed to by others when I went to them asking for answers. I was told theyd speak to management about the issue. I was given no follow up from management. I asked again, why didnt she call me back? Why didnt this woman lose her job? Why could no one explain her careless, dismissive behavior? My best friend is dead at 7 years old and she could have been saved. They did not fire her or have her apologize to me. They paid her to let my dog die. They continue to pay her to give us false information and to not call us back while our pets suffer. She will be paid to let your pets die on her watch too. This isn't just about her negligence, but about how the management is responding (by not responding all) not even offering to creamte my girl that died due to their negligence. It is also about how they are probaly treating and overworking their own employees to a point where they are butnt out- forgetting or choosing to not call back a patient that's been bleeding for hours. Why did I not get a call from management or the nelgigent person? Why have I told this story to multiple people in the community and they have replied with their own story of negligence at this facility and they drive double the time to any other vet on island? Why is my dog dead? Why was I so trusting? Why did I let her tone manipulate how to handle my dogs care? I blame them- yes but I also blame myself for trusting the people I have given thousands of dollars to that do this for a living. I am not sure how long I will mourn the tragic and preventative loss of my best friend. I have lost my pets before and been sad but never due to veterinarian negligence. The one place who is supposed to care as much as you and be able to take action when needed. Update: It has been one month since the Kapaa animal clinic neglectfully my killed my dog, no calls from management, no consequences for the women that lied to me and refused my dog care. She still has her job. They DO NOT CARE. I was an established patient and they refused me emergency care during buisness hours and didn't answer the emergency line. Since telling my story, many people have had the same thing happen there. Just the week before, a woman's dog bled out in their waiting room while they refused to bring them back for fluids. This is unacceptable. Please establish your pets at ANY other vet on the island as this one will let your pet die in an emergency.

Our baby would've died if Dr. Haas didn't rush to his office for us at night and perform surgery. I can't even think about what we would've done without him! I can't express in words how appreciative we are or how much we love Lihue Vet & Dr. Haas. We can not recommend highly enough and we could never repay him and the staff for their kindness, response to our emergency, patience, care, and help. Our little pup got attacked and dragged away on the beach by a wild pig hunting dog from the homeless camp. She was torn in half and we were traumatized. If Dr. Haas didn't agree to meet us and perform emergency surgery late night, our baby wouldn't be here. She got 28 staples and survived only because of Dr. Haas & his assistant Kaleo who thankfully still happened to be closing up at 8pm at night. EVERY single one of the Lihue Veterinary staff that we worked with - Lisa, Lynne, & Kaleo - were ALL amazing. We would say they all deserve a raise, but they're all the most amazing family who work together. We are forever indebted to them. Our bill was also 1/3 of what it would have been at home on Oahu so we brainstorming ways to to take care of these wonderful people or donate to the clinic when we settle in back at home.
