Walked in to a pretty much empty restaurant today about 20 minutes ago. The phone was ringing and there was no one at the counter to answer it. I saw a lady coming over to answer it but she had no sense of urgency to make it to the phone not to mention that she was on her own cellular device texting away. She walked right by us didn't even introduce herself, proceeded to ask us if we were eating in and then pointed to a booth for us to sit at. As we're walking to the booth she's like "oh let me make sure it's clean". Why wouldn't it clean? The restaurant is empty? She sloppily puts our menus down and walks away. We sit down and no one comes to our table to take our drink orders or introduce themselves for a good 7-8 minutes. Mind you the restaurant is empty with the exception of like 2 other tables being occupied. Finally our waiter comes over. His name was Marcus. He offered us drinks and went and got them. He asked us if we needed a few more minutes. We said yes. He sort of never came back so we ended up walking out and going somewhere else. read more

The service was as best as could be expected considering the full dining room, but the place was VERY understaffed. It seems this is another one of those restaurants where management rather save costs on labor than satisfy the customer. Sadly the service was the best part of my experience. The food was bland and mediocre, could be compared to a high-end fast food chain. I was overall disappointed, but I feel for the waiters and waitresses (only 3 of them on shift during a full dining room when it's a Saturday Night!?) for having to put up with managers that obviously don't want to write enough paychecks necessary to keep an orderly dining room. For the past couple of weeks I have really wanted Ihop. So my boyfriend took me. Being 9 months pregnant I really could go for some pancakes. We had walked in and were seated right away, but...not one person had come to take our order, ask if we wanted drinks nothing. My boyfriend and I waited 34 minutes when we finally left because we were never helped. Service Was awful, waitress not aware of what is going on with her tables. Took 30 minutes for food to get to table When food arrives its cold.. Pancakes were rubbery Bacon cold Eggs ice cold to touch At this point the kids food came, and adult plates (2) had yet to arrive . Adult plate arrives (1), where is the other?, food is warm, but I won't eat before my kids .. I asked for the manager.. A man came (looks dark skin Indian) and was very rude, instead of taking the cold plate away he leaves it and brings another plate.. At this point I asked for the bill for my coffee n I will leave. I made my way out n left to Denny's at exit 35.. Much better service there. Run from this place, it sucks bad, and needs an overhaul. read more

So me and my coworkers work in the mall, it is convenient for us to get food from within the mall. We figured we would order from IHOP because we've all eaten it before and it hasn't been terrible. Well, to start off, my coworker wanted a burger well done, it was closer to medium well than well done. I had asked for other toppings on my burger, and had not gotten them. Another worker said her meal didn't have much taste or even any flavor to it regardless. All of our food wasn't anything special or all that flavorful anyway. The fries were also like they were cooked too long. We waited 30 minutes in total when we were told about 15 minutes, the person who helped us couldn't understand we needed different things. It really was not busy in the place at all, but we still had to wait another 5 minutes for a cup of soup. Maybe if they upped their customer service there would be more business. read more

My wife asked where I wanted to go for my birthday breakfast and I said IHOP! We recently moved to the area and when we looked up the closest location it was a half hour drive but I really wanted IHOP so off we went. This was probably the worst experience we've ever had at IHOP before. First, the greeter didn't acknowledge us when we first walked in despite greeting the couple who came in after us. What looked like a manager escorted us to our table. We waited patiently but no one ever came to even take our drink order. My wife asked another server if they could get our server. Again the manager showed up. He ended up taking our order. When our orders came out, my wife's wasn't made correctly. (The hash browns were missing). Also missing were a few customary things. Customarily, when someone orders potatoes (French fries, hash browns, etc ketchup is usually brought out to the table. It wasn't in this instance. It's also customary for the server to return to your table shortly after receiving your food to ask "if everything is o.k.", again, that wasn't done. I am writing this review as we are still sitting at the table in the restaurant and we have already decided that we DEFINITELY will not be coming back here! read more

I've only been here a total of 3 times since they have opened in Waterbury. It says something when you search "Ihop" with my zip code and Waterbury was listed as the 10th Ihop down. Anyways, I should of ran far away from this one with my first encounter before I had ever eaten here. The doors say it closes at 9pm (it could of changed since then I'm not sure) and the doors were locked and lights were off by 8:15!!!!! You can't just close a restaurant down when the hours are clearly listed! I was so baffled. I love love love some Ihop pancakes and it says something when I forget about this place constantly. I don't remember my food ever being bad, but the service is kind of slow and not very pleasant. They definitely act as if they could be doing something better and like they can't be bothered at all. I would maybe recommend getting your food to go if possible. Also, the amount of kids running around screaming their little heads off is annoying. Control your children. I would pass on this one and take the trip to Wallingford Ihop if you really need your fix. read more

Very slow service, 15 minutes for a cup of coffee, and it was cold! 20 minutes to take order then another 25 minutes to get the food, and it was all cold! Server (Morgan ) didn't give 2 craps. And the manager seemed to care even less. I reached out to there corporate headquarters to complain. That was 48 hours ago and still recived no kind of communication from them concerning my complaints other than an auto generated email responce thanking me for my comments and assuring me that a representative would be in contact with me within 2 days. Still nothing. IHOP used to be the best place for breakfast, but after witnessing the hard downfall of quality and severe lack of customer service, I do not see me or my family ever going back to any IHOP, not just this location.... on a side note, even after complain and sending EVERYTHING back, we were still charged for our cold, overpriced coffee. Came to eat here and the food was absolutely disgusting, it was cold and they obviously served less than they amount they were supposed to. And oh, on top of all that there was a fucking long hair on my steak. I am absolutely disgusted. At 2:30 PM yesterday my Mother and I enjoyed an excellent dining experience at the Waterbury IHop. Our server Melinda was very friendly and efficient and did everything possible to be sure that everything was just the way we wanted it. Our food was served very quickly and was piping hot as well as very tasty. Granted the restaurant was not very busy at this time of day, but my experience here is always like this: good food served promptly by a friendly staff. Finally, it's worth noting that the Ladies' rest room was spotless as usual. We really enjoy eating here because they do everything right; if you try it, I really think that you'll like it. read more

In my opinion not that great of a place ! Not that friendly almost like you are Inconvienceing them . I took my client there a few times she's elderly and she wanted to go to the Mall so we went while we were there a lady at the next table gave me a coupon on the way out for buy one meal get one free . I was thankful to her so I told my waitress ,I didn't think it was gonna be a big deal but it was . When I paid they gave me a hard time at the front desk, I'm like omg this is crazy the girl studied the coupon , went and checked with the waitress as to what we ate. I was so aggravated . Then the register wasn't taking Credit lucky I was still there, I walked away not signing anything the hostess didn't know what she was doing the hostess had to enter my stuff in again , I ended up waiting 15 min while the dial up computer was trying to connect . Ugh I have worked in the Food & Bev industry for my whole adult life this place could def use a few classes on how to treat the public and the sad part is it's Panckes and Eggs not that difficult !! it's not good when a business closes down but this ihop at the brass city mall is due. maybe a better eating place will follow. we decided not to wait at the olive garden across this ihop because we were getting hungry. there were only a few customers at ihop when we go seated. i had to tell one of the younger kids working in the place that i need to order now after a long wait. there were red-shirted young kids doing nothing and only one waiter who was taking the orders. if you want to experience a horrible service go to this place. otherwise find another place to eat. read more

My son and I were looking forward to breakfast for dinner and thought iHop would be the right spot. So very wrong, at least at this location. The manager showed us in and had our waiter seat us with menus. The manager was inattentive to the restaurant during our entire stay. The waiter was attentive until the order was placed. He did not write down the order, and I noticed the one other waiter did not write down orders either. We asked for water with lemon. Water came, had to ask for the lemon. Both of us ordered pancakes and bacon - very simple. Pancakes eventually came, no bacon. Waiter very busy running around doing something at the register, but not waiting on tables. He did not check back. Finally got his attention, asked for the bacon, which came after we finished pancakes. We thought about ordering one of the special hot chocolates on the menu, but we just wanted to leave. The waiter was quick to give us our check and then disappeared. Waited a few minutes at the register, and when the waiter rang us up, he threw away both receipts without asking if I wanted the receipt. I had to ask for the receipt back as I wanted to fill out the online review. He had to dig threw the trash to get it and seemed annoyed I wanted it back. When we left well prior to the posted closing time, we had to unlock the door to the outside ourselves. Don't know if the mall door was still open. I was hoping this was an off night at iHop, but reading all these reviews, it appears to be the norm. read more
