I went for breakfast. I was told they were operating with only one cook and I chose to wait for 44 minutes (a retiree makes time). The wait staff seemed confused and service reflected that to the point that they got a simple order wrong. An elderly man at a nearby table complained about everything from taste to presentation and informed the hapless young assistant manager that he'd pay only for their drinks. Though I may have approached the young man privately and saved him the awkward, embarrassed lectures of a dissatisfied, arrogant, bafoon, I can't dismiss his assessment. It took 15 minutes to get water and coffee and that was only after we stopped someone passing by. Our food took 45 minutes and there were empty tables. The entire experience took more than an hour. We saw people leaving without food. I don't know who the manager is but I would fire them. Really disappointing experience here this morning. Server was clearly disinterested in being there. They were out of waffles, straws, jelly and orange juice. On Sunday, August 8, 2021 at approximately 1:30 pm, my party of three arrived at the local Springfield, Illinois IHOP for breakfast. Upon entering the establishment we were "floored" by the attitude and demeanor of an employee, later identified to me as "Alexa." While waiting to be seated, Alexa was seen preparing a to go order for a customer already ahead of us. As Alexa was packing the order, she yelled from behind the hostess stand, "I'm glad we have cameras to see people out there waiting while the manger stepped out." From Alexa's tone, she was clearly upset over something prior to our arrival. Next, Alexa the came from the rear of the hostess stand with a poor demeanor and attitude. She was rude and discourteous to me, my children and the surrounding customers and staff. When Alexa sat us down and he introduced us to our server, now know to me as "De'Nasha" (sp), she asked if we needed anything. It was then I requested the manager who promptly came to our table. When I expressed my concerns of Alexa's unprofessionalism, the manager assured me that Alexa would be removed from the floor. Alexa and the unidentified manager (no name tag) went to a back room where a discussion took place. It was then that in plain view for all customers to see and hear, Alexa replied to the manager "I DON'T CARE THEY CAN EAT SOMEPLACE ELSE!" So we did. After offering to pay for three drinks, the manager declined and told me not to worry. We left and went somewhere else. I assure that this is not a reflection of all or most IHOP locations and this specific establishment with this particular staff has an underlying issue. In these uncertain times, employees should note that their actions are a reflection of the businesses they serve and their actions can and will be scrutinized. My views, experiences and opinion with this specific incident is not a reflection of YELP and or their affiliates. Furthermore, not all IHOPS are the same and can be independently owned/operated. I expected them to busy on Christmas day and I expected to wait. I walked in at their were people waiting. I went up to the desk to put my name in and after a few minutes someone came up. There was a guy waiting to place an order. Before the guy could put his order in the cook yelled out to the servers STOP TAKING ORDERS, THERE IS ONLY 2 OF US BACKHERE. I understand his frustration but hearing them shout that out I was taken back. I asked does that mean they are turning away customers. She apologized and said she would talk to her staff. I told her that I understood they were busy but to hear the cooks shout no more orders and what the server said I was done. I blame the IHOP corporation for being short staffed. I know that people will call off but they need to make sure they had enough people for coverage. The floor was beyond disgusting. There was food residue and trash and the entire floor was wet. All the servers where slipping and one of them nearly fell right in front of me. The service was beyond horrible. They sat us, we where not offered coffee and had to call the waitress to get someone's attention. When we asked for coffee they didn't give us no creamer or sugar, no silverware. We sat there just staring at the coffee for like a good 5 mins, again I had to get a random waitress attention to have her bring us everything we needed. The food took 45+ mins and we waited and waited until one waitress comes up to us and said that there was a big party that was taken care of and that our food would be coming out soon. We are from Chicago and had our dog in the car with the AC on. We had a 3 hr drive back home and we where just losing time waiting for an hour and no food came. There was so many codes that where being broken in that place that I would have called an inspector to get it shut down. Since they have a sign that says please wait to be seated you'd think that someone would be listening. After ringing the bell an obnoxious amount of times I went to a booth. Finally someone noticed I was here and brought me a menu. I ordered coffee and pancakes. The pancakes were almost too cold to melt the small ball of butter on top.
