The exterior lights on the building were turned off. This with the lack of parking lot lighting made the parking lot very dark and not safe. There's several street people who frequent the area and because of the darkness it's not safe to park there or walk in the lot. My mom, fiancé, and I visited this IHOP on Saturday, October 28, 2019, after I completed the Apple Valley Triathlon. We arrived about 9:30 AM, and while it was busy, we were seated right away. Our server was Maggie, and she came over to get our drink orders within a couple minutes of sitting down. You could tell that Maggie was staying busy, but she was on top of things during our entire visit and always very personable. We never felt neglected at all. My mom had the stuffed french toast, my fiancé had the french toast combo, and I had the biscuits and gravy. The food came out quickly and no one had any complaints. The food quality was what you would expect from an IHOP. We would certainly be happy to return to this location as it's close to the freeway (I-15 & Main St). Stopped here on our way to Vegas on a Friday morning, as i'm sure a lot of people might do. The service was pretty slow, but the food came out rather quickly. Everyone was super friendly, the eggs weren't cooked like I had asked for them, but I dreaded having them take my food away and come back 10-15 minutes later. There was a large group that ordered after we did, so I was worried, it would take a while before I got my food back. I see why this location has a low rating. Waited on hold for over 10 minutes to place a pickup order. Drove there and still had to wait in line to place an order and took forever. They said 20 minutes and it was over a 30 minute wait. Ridiculous service of having one person up front, seating people, taking orders, giving orders and taking the phone. It's a weekend make sure your other workers help where it's needed...not just off to the side folding menus while one person does all the work. read more

I am a flexible Vegan since I have health problems that make it easier just being Vegan but occasionally I will eat fish. My family really wanted IHOP's Chicken and Waffles and it had been a long time since we last visited. I was sure they would by now have a Vegan friendly menu.....sadly, no :( I did make due with what they had and ordered the tilapia with no sauce, broccoli and hash brown. It was so happy when they brought out this big portion of tilapia. It tasted great and the waitress was so nice. My only complaint, is them not having a Vegan selection. It really isn't that hard. It's IHOP.... I'm not sure I need to review the food. Yes, it's a chain and yes, haters will hate, but I've always liked IHOP. You get a free meal on your birthday, and my mom insists on coming to this location every year for hers. Service has always been friendly and on point, each time I've visited. Even last Sunday, when it was packed during lunchtime, we were seated within 10 minutes. I always like ordering the breakfast crepes. The carafes of coffee and the different varieties of syrup on your table are always cool, too. And they always play cool oldies, and I always sing. They serve create-your-own-pancake-faces (with different DIY toppings) to keep the kids entertained, and they also have a balloon artist walking around the restaurant, only charging tips. She made my mom a birthday cupcake bracelet that was even scented, she made my boyfriend's son a snake with a curled tail, a tongue, and eyes, and she made me a giraffe hat! When I ask most balloon artists for giraffes, it's beyond their skill level, but this woman asked me, "Do you want a standing giraffe, or a hat?" Like a boss. Best balloon artist I've ever seen! Unfortunately, the snake was played with a little too much and lost half his body before we left the parking lot, but we still had good fun. I realize that most of this article was about balloon animals, but my point is that this IHOP has always offered us down-home, friendly service and good experiences, even while being a chain. It's IHOP, you know what to expect for the most part. This location does a very good job of what they offer though. Food is good straight up. Bacon and eggs are not over cooked, pancakes are fluffy, and their promotional specials offer a lot of food at an affordable price. Servers are very friendly and service is quick. Place gets packed out for breakfast and early lunch but is usually a ghost town for dinner time. The quality stays consistent regardless of time of day though. For another chain in the high desert, they do a good job. My biggest gripe is they have Pepsi instead of Coke! Ew! Delicious sweet tea is a good sub for that Coke though! read more

I don't find many restaurants, especially chain restaurants, as clean and as friendly as this one. I was on my way back home to Las Vegas, with my two adult children, and stopped in Hesperia for breakfast. My experience on 2021-09-29 was beyond excellent, mostly due to the service of our waitress Maggie. It's rare to feel so welcome, and like family, in most places anymore, especially in chain restaurants. Thank you Maggie for a very pleasant experience. I moved to Hesperia about two years ago and this was our first time visiting IHOP . The portions were small, the food was ok tasting. I asked for my son and I to have our bacon cooked extra crispy and it came to us hardly cooked at all. I asked for it to please be recooked extra crispy and it came back still under cooked. I ordered a basic breakfast that came with unlimited pancakes, and my waitress recommended I try some of the specialty pancakes so I took her advice and ended up trying two different kinds while there. When I got the bill I saw I was charged extra for each "specialty" pancake! I asked the waitress and was told those cost extra.. well I nicely told her she should have mentioned that while convincing me to order them.. she didn't take the cost off and I was disappointed with the whole experience. I am 24 years old I have worked in customer service for 8 years. choosing to be happy is not difficult and it's not hard to be patient. We came in for not even 20 minutes, my fiancé had gone to the bathroom and I had left my phone in the car. They had dropped off a water for us and after I returned from the car was asked by a Michelle (not sure if this was her name or the manager who had helped my fiancé but she was a older woman with dyed red ish brown hair and a crooked nose wearing a purple shirt) if we were ready again and I had said no because my fiancé was still gone. For context i understand how annoying it would be if a couple came in and ordered a water while one is in the bathroom and the other is at the table but it wasn't that serious. When we were finally ready to order I had ordered my food after she cut me off and pointed to the picture on the menu like I'm a kid, and berated my fiancé idc which way you look at it she just wanted spicy tenders with a stack of 4 pancakes and the woman asked her 5 different times in less then a minute, (no I am not lying) "WHAT DO YOU WANT", "This one or that one". While she doing her most my fiancé is starting to shy away from ordering cause the woman is getting louder while slapping the menu at different angles and jabbing her finger at it to "Help" her. After she finished she snatched the menu and I had to keep myself from snatching her up I condone violence and putting my hands on a woman, however my fiancé is 25 NOT A CHILD, point blank the customer service has propted me to go to Denny's as long as I live in Hesperia unless the Victorville location better or she is no longer working. read more

I think IHOP is the run of the mill average chain food experience. It doesn't wow me but it doesn't make me hate it either. My parents really wanted to eat here and since my boyfriend and I never go, we thought why not? Service was really slow. It took a long time to get food out to tables! Note we are aware that orange juice isn't refilled and we asked for another request for 1 orange juice for our kid. She had already printed the receipt without asking us if we were done. When we asked for the orange juice she stared like we had just pissed her off. After bringing the receipt back it showed 4 orange juices when we only had a total of 2. Over charged and the food was not very well suited. Eggs over cooked, burger undercooked (although I asked for well done) waitress rolled her eyes when we asked for a side of ranch as well. My Daughter's pancakes were not cooked all the way. Husband asked for Sausage received bacon we let them know they never replaced it. Will not go back to IHOP. 3 stars because the hostess was super nice and the food was pretty good considering it is an ihop in the high desert. The waitress stopped at our table 4 times, once to ask for coffees and once to get our order. The 3rd time I wouldn't really consider it a stop it was more of a pass by. As she passed us she quickly asked if everything was good, she didn't even hear our answer and she was already gone. Then she came by the last time to bring the check. I waved her down once because we asked for water and she brought one water for 2 of us. The coffee pitcher she left had stains all over the pitcher. The handle was completely soaked and dripping coffee as if she just filled it. But the pitcher didn't have enough in it to fill up one small mug. She was busy but her service was horrible and she didn't smile once or even look at us. It was more like we were an inconvenience more than anything. Then when we went to pay she came over to check on the tip we were giving. I always give at least 15% tip no matter what, unless you just straight up like this lady. Never caught her name because I only saw her a couple times in passing. She was mad dogging us as we walk out because she thought that we should have tipped her large for horrible service. I'll pay for my food, give you a 12% percent tip and leave. I'll probably not come back because this was yet again another bad experience at this store. I don't expect 5 star service at an ihop but damn, this was sub par to say the least. 3 stars is more than generous. read more

Stopped in this morning to get a bite to eat at this IHOP. The waitress Cheryl was wonderful. However my food was not so great. The cook was slow at cooking my food and it was burnt. I will not eat at this IHOP ever again. I would like to thank the manager Pamela for comping my meal due to the unsatisfactory experience I encountered with my meal. They encounter that I had was that we were seated before four other families and their food came out before ours. It was only three people in my party and we did not have a big order. Our food was lukewarm when it finally arrive to our table. I had to complaint to the manager to find out why it was taking so long for our food when others had sat down after us and they were eating while we were still waiting on our meal. read more

This IHOP for some reason is not consistent with other IHOPs. The portion sizes were so extremely small compared to other IHOPs I have been to. I got an omelette combo that included pancakes. The size of the omelette was very small and I only got one sausage and one slice of bacon. I have ordered their combos in the past and I usually have leftovers. I was kind of disappointed. I've been eating fast food and diner food for almost 60 years now, and frankly I'm not that picky. But what I ate at IHOP tonight (or should I say attempted to eat) was absolutely disgusting. Let me say first of all of the waitresses are polite, the restaurant looked very clean and festive for Christmas and the Elf on the Shelf menu was fun for the kids. I ordered the Montecristo sandwich. If you've ever eaten at diners you know that this is a brunch type sandwich that is served crispy and battered with Jam on the side. Their version was to make it a wrap but I expected it to be crispy. It was nothing more than a soft tasteless "wrap" with egg smeared on the inside with turkey and ham. And it was lukewarm at best. This disaster didn't in anyway represent a Monte Cristo; the result was sloppy and soft/almost soggy. I STILL would've eaten it except the turkey was gamey, dry, old and it smelled like it been freezer burned in a freezer full of mixed vegetables. It took FORTY MINUTES after ordering to get our food and there was only one other party that was served while we were waiting. In fact the whole restaurant only had four occupied tables. I would have sent this mess back if we hadn't waited so long and the kids couldn't have waited another 45 mins for me to try something else. My grandson got the kids meal but couldn't eat the powdered "scrambled" egg. So he filled up the pancake with frosting. We ordered some fancy pancakes on the side and those were delicious. My friend had a Patty melt that was just average (nothing spectacular but nothing bad either). My disgusting use-up-the-restaurant-leftovers-and-call-it-a-sandwich was $11.99 and the 3 Italian pancakes with whipped cream/chocolate chips etc was $10.99. So I don't fall for the trick "kids eat free" from 6-10pm. They just raise the other prices to cover the cost. I can't help myself; I gotta agree with others on the internet and say IHOP SHOULD STICK to PANCAKES!!! just so you know I am not a Scrooge, I felt so sorry for the waitress I left her a $20 Christmas tip; but even that was a disappointment! Our waitress rung us up at the cash register. Afterward she put her head down and kept staring at the receipt as she walked off. This was a reminder why u don't EVER eat at IHOP....... For lack of other choices and being in the boonies late night on a road trip... this was the only place besides Denny's. Omg something sharp and pointy slowly went down my throat. What was it??? It was a yellow piece of Plastic the kind that ties around a bread bag and has EXP on it. This piece of plastic was disgustingly and obliviously tossed in with my Cesar salad. What filth. I felt another corner of this sharp plastic fall from my back tooth & go down my throat ........ I called the waitress immediately, she offered to get me something else? Really? No thanks I was disgusted. What else did they do in that kitchen?
