On top of that, they had the audacity to forget my fucking pancakes by the time my pancakes arrived my appetite was spoiled. I went at noon and the service was good, it looked clean, bathroom was clean, and the food was a lot better than expected. They played good music and I left satisfied. Many years since I last visited this IHOP at the intersection of North Olden Avenue Extension and Parkway Avenue, Ewing, NJ. It looks about the same on the outside, but there has been a modest makeover within making the space appear brighter and renewed. The greeting by the staff was legit friendly, and the care provided throughout breakfast was very good. One of the servers actually came over to me to compliment me on my watch. That is a very rare occurrence. I ordered the brioche French toast from the griddle menu. At $6.99 is seemed reasonable. The carafe of coffee was another $2.49 for a bottomless mug. Still, getting out from a full breakfast for under $10, was appreciated. Yet, there must have been a little communication problem with I did not catch until my food was served. My very pleasant server came back to me after ordering to ask if I wanted blueberries or peaches with my breakfast. I hadn't originally asked for that. Nothing was said about an up charge, and I thought it was something everyone was offered with this meal. In fact, it wasn't. The extra canned peaches, caramel-like syrup and dollop of whipped cream was another buck fifty. No biggie, but I would have preferred to be told the complete deal. The food itself was good, but too sweet with the syrup they drowned the bread with. I have a lighter touch on breakfast syrup. I've been to this location twice. The first time was an average morning IHOP visit. We went recently for a late dinner and the service and food was lacking. We arrived around 8:30 and the restaurant was pretty empty. There were probably only two other tables. We were seated promptly but a server didn't come to ask us if we wanted water or anything for like ten minutes. We could see both of the servers chatting next to the kitchen literally doing nothing. We ordered a couple stacks of pancakes and a scramble and hash browns. The food was tasty but it didn't seem warm. Seemed like it had been sitting out for awhile. Also after we had finished we had to wait for awhile because the servers were chatting with some customers at one of the tables. It was pretty disappointing. IHOP never disappoints - especially on 60¢ pancake day. This place is super average though: their pancakes, service, ambiance, and quality is overall subpar. I ordered a classic stack of pancakes with a sunny-side up egg and sausages, and the food was the most redeeming quality. Pancakes were perfectly fluffy and the sides couldn't have been better cooked. It was, however, plated unfortunately: each element was separated from another and seemed to be thrown on the dishes rather haphazardly. It didn't "ruin my meal" (I rearranged it myself), but it would have been nice to have been given something more presentable. The service seemed chaotic and stressed: maybe it was the combination of pancake day and a lunch rush, but we rarely had opportunities to interact with our waitress. We asked her to explain the deal to us a little more in detail, but she seemed rushed and distracted. She was super friendly and nice, but it would have been nice to have been served with a little more attention. Went here today for lunch during my work hours with a co worker as we had a taste for breakfast. Immediately upon entering I quickly notice that it is an extremely tight space. While waiting at the door for at least two minutes, with workers walking right pass acknowledging us, we were finally greeted and offered a table. While at the table we were greeted by a very friendly waitress who was kind and stayed with a smile. Once we placed our order we waited an extremely long time for what looked to be somewhat moderately busy restaurant. Once our food came out, I noticed only my egg omelet was the only thing to come to the table. The waitress walked away until I had to call for her attention and make her aware that my pancakes or bacon had not yet arrived. I asked her if I could have warmed syrup which she said would be okay. Several minutes later she brought the syrup but still no pancakes. Approx. 15 minutes later my pancakes came out but still no bacon. I made her aware that I was no longer interested in having the bacon. She responded by letting me know that she had already told the cook that due to the bacon being cold (I assume from her neglect of not picking it up at the station) she cancelled the order; so I was never able to get bacon. I was more disappointed at the fact that I had staggered food orders come out as a meal opposed to having everything come out at once. Finally, once we finished we waited another 20 minutes however no waitress. I had to go up to the cash register and repeat twice to what seemed to be the manager that I would like my receipt because I had been waiting for quite a while. I'm not a hard person to please but I was very dissatisfied and disappointed at my experience and will not be eating here again. Avoid this iHop location at all costs. read more

Started off as a great experience - until we shortly discovered ants crawling in our food and all around the windowsill. Our waitress neglected to check up on us, so we were unable to express our disgust. After motioning for the check from across the restaurant, we finally were greeted 10 minutes later from our waitress, checkless. She informed us that the system was broken and stated that it was acting "retarded", when in reality somebody just accidentally closed out our check. She gave us the option of waiting a while for them to figure out the issue or go get cash from the car. She promised us a discount due to the ant problem, but we were not granted one. As a waitress myself I know to never use derogatory terms while speaking with customers and if there is ever a problem with their food they should get it for free. The name IHOP should be synonymous with fun and/or adventure, but it's not the case for me since I'm always disappointed by my experiences there. It was stupid to go back, but there I was. I had a breakfast platter that featured eggs and bacon, and my son had pancakes. The prices are way too high for what you get - small servings, and so-so food. The pancakes, granted, are yummy -- but they should be, given that the establishment is named for them. The restaurant is messy. Our waitress was nice, but not really dedicated to her work, which, really, I understand. No one dreams of being a waitress at IHOP. But still, effort at work, even at an unsatisfying job, is not always a terrible thing, especially when dealing with the general public. I agree with other Yelpers who were confused/cramped by/abandoned at the front entrance - the layout of this shop is weird and if you aren't greeted right away, it's awkward. She didn't give us silver ware when we sat down, she always forgot if we asked for something (asked for napkins FIVE times, even asked other workers and they didn't even remember!), and she got my order wrong. Not that it was a big deal because luckily I liked what she gave me. But anyways, the wait was so long because the restaurant is so small and always has been. There's barely any parking. Recently had a great meal with my partner, who is fussy, but even he enjoyed it. We had dinner, and the staff were on their toes. More than twice they asked us if we needed anything, even with quite a few other customers seated, as sometimes when is busy we felt that we were well paid attention to. I have read other reviews about this establishment before posting this, and can't figure out why some will repeat dining here if their experience was not a positive one in the first place. Especially the review posted by a customer who apparently called in advance to 'pick up' a meal, when later mentioned she dined there (instead?). We stopped by the Ewing IHOP for a weekday mid-morning breakfast. We were seated in about 5 minutes even though there were only a few tables filled. We then waited for 20 minutes before I had to get up to ask the 5 women standing around chatting if someone would be taking our order. In a few more minutes, a woman came by to take our order, then brought us coffee. We then waited another 20 minutes before I had to get up again to find out what was going on with our order. A young man then brought our meals over. My companion's eggs were okay, but my meal was icy cold. The pancakes on both of our plates were probably left over from the previous day (or perhaps fished out of the trash?). They were cold, dry, hard and completely unappealing. I got up and asked to see the manager, who was eventually found. (Another 5 minutes wait for that!) She exasperatedly told the young man to take my meal off the bill before she left the area again - with no apology and no apparent concern. We will not go back there or to any IHOP ever again and we will tell others not to bother, as well. Completely inexcusable. We drove a 1/2 mile up the road and had a fabulous breakfast at the diner. read more

Got the hearty ham and cheese omelette and when it can out looked like someone threw it on the plate all falling apart. It also had a white garlic tasting sauce on it. When I asked the waitress about it she stated it was a white cheese sauce. Now I have gotten the hearty name and cheese omelette more times than I can count but never has it bad a supposed white. cheese sauce on it.
