If you're looking for a full-on survival experience, IHOP has you covered. We came in for pancakes and left two hours older, hungrier, and emotionally scarred. The server sat us down and disappeared faster than my motivation to be polite. No one asked if my daughter needed a high chair, I guess the new theme here is extreme family dining. When I finally got one, it felt like I had to win it in a raffle. Drinks? Took forever. Food? Nearly an hour. And when it did come out, half of it was on another table. Nothing says "five-star service" like retrieving your own breakfast from strangers like it's a buffet scavenger hunt. Refills required multiple requests like we were applying for a loan. And the food? Let's just say the real crime wasn't the wait, it was what we waited for. To really seal the deal, we waited another 45 minutes just to pay. Two hours total from start to finish. Honestly, if IHOP ever opens an escape room, they've already nailed the timing. And as the cherry on top, our server had the worst customer service I've seen in a long time, complete with a full-on bitchy attitude. What could improve? Literally everything. It took a total of 2 hours from the time we walked into the business until the time we walked out. The waiter left our food on another table and walked off so we had to serve ourselves. He never came back to check on us or refill drinks. We had to hunt him down. The manager was carrying plates with her sleeves over her hands while she was touching the plates. Gross. We stood up at the front to check out for 20 minutes. When our waiter, Zaden, finally came out to have us pay, he had a huge attitude with us. I couldn't believe how bad our experience was today. Service was not good, waitress never refilled our drinks, never checked in. Food was HORRIBLE. Chicken was pink in the middle, the Mac n cheese was dry like it had been sitting out. After standing around for some time, we finally had to knock on the kitchen window to get someone to come out and seat us. After 15 minutes, we had to ask someone to find a waitress for us. After placing the order, the coffee and drinks didn't come out until the food came out. Everyone's food was cold and there were only 5 or 6 other tables, so it wasn't busy. DO NOT GO HERE, there was hair in at all the orders. And I'm pretty sure I have food poisoning. The worker was also very very creepy and made remarks about the pink sausage. He probably spit in our foods and we found over 4 hairs in our food. I hope they fire that guy and just close. read more

We went here tonight for my daughters 11th birthday dinner. I clued the waitress in and she rounded up some other employees to sing to her and gave her a birthday sundae. It was really sweet and my daughter got a kick out of it. My daughter ordered the Belgium dark chocolate pancakes, she has ordered this more than once and loves them. I tried the New York cheesecake pancakes this time topped with strawberries and I liked it. They came in a stack of four and I left full. This location is nice and clean. A new IHOP in Derby! It's the cleanest IHOP we've been in, but it's been open a week. It should be. The food is typical and good enough. A lot of standing around by the servers, though. No towels in the bathroom. The whole time we were there never saw a manager. They still have some fine tuning to do, but I have high hopes this will be the best IHOP in the area. read more

IHOP - American Near Me - Derby, Kansas

The endearment of late night breakfast diner with the convenience of being in Derby with and IHOP menu. We don't go during peak hours but for the odd hour sit-in, the service is charming and helpful. The food is standard diner food, I'm not calling it high quality but I almost always order omelettes so it's not always fair to judge from that. Hash browns are always delicious. Really the only thing I've ever had here that was questionable was a poached egg, it was kind of cold and had the same aesthetic qualities of one of those fake plastic kids toy eggs, but still with the set white and runny yolk. I'm sure it probably just sat a little long while the other entree was being made. Something here for everyone with fun seasonal additions. They have the Wonka lemonade and we tried it, it is a heavy drink especially if you dunk the cotton candy in, but the (berry i think?) syrup was a good balance to the sweetness. Worth trying to sip on, just maybe ask for some water, too! Friendly staff! read more

Food was excellent and service was great as well. I was hesitant to try it based upon prior reviews, but I think they had just opened last year and were still trying to get everything ironed out. They seemed to have done that now and I was seated quickly and my drink order took as I sat down. Waitress came back with drink but I needed a few more minutes to look over the menu. Ordered and got my food pretty quickly. Was able to get my check and pay quickly as well. I had two of the international pancakes (tres leches) and two strips of bacon. Bacon was cooked perfectly! For me, that is hard to find. I like it on the other side of done, but not burnt. Was very tasty! read more

Not great, not even good really. Village Inn in Derby will easily keep my business. My server, bless his heart, was trying hard. But the food just wasn't good. The coffee had an odd taste to it, as did the bacon. The hash browns were cold...All the young employees (close to a dozen) congregated in a loud pack at the cash register area, none of them even acknowledging customers as they went by. I had to go get someone else to take my order. over 30 minutes later my food arrived. my eggs were cold, plate was warmer. the rest of the food was somewhat warm. my wife didn't even eat her eggs she said they were dried out. The staff I dealt with were friendly courteous and professional acting. The food was cooked correctly and looked good on my plate and come out from the kitchen surprisingly fast considering how busy they were. When I took my first bite I discovered why. The food was cold to the touch it was so cold the butter on my pancakes didn't melt. By far the worse IHOP experience I had in my life. When I am eating at an establishment that is higher priced than fast food I expect a better than fast food quality. I could have gone to Burger King paid less and received a better meal. read more

Just disappointed! The service was not very good and the food was not very good! all I wanted was corned beef hash and eggs and they started putting a mustard sauce with onion in it and it sucks. So I asked them about eggs benedict, they don't have that anymore because they don't want to have Canadian bacon on hand, so basically if you're old school and want corned beef hash and eggs or eggs benedict don't go to IHOP. read more

I think people are being a little too harsh on this new establishment in Derby. I have been to this IHOP several times since it opened and have always had excellent service with different staff members. The eggs are cooked correctly, omelettes have been delicious, and the staff is quick and helpful. On one occasion, at the register, I heard two of the staff discussing a third staff member and it was really nice to hear them communicate with one another in a positive way to address a stressful Saturday morning situation. I heard the young woman say something about perception and gave a insightful response to her co-worker to try to address the issue. I was over the moon. It was so nice to witness young people in food service positions communicating so effectively to address a stressful moment. Will return. read more

My adventures at this IHOP varied from humorous to unpleasant as they sadly dealt with the crowds New Year's morning. I hope that this is not an omen for my year ahead, as the service was slow and the carousel of employees never ended. They must have a couch in the back because there were at least 30 employees that entered and exited the kitchen with little purpose. While the food was good, it was Luke warm, and let us really take in the atmosphere as we waited for 30+ minutes. We decided to rank the most efficient employees and Martin is the clear MVP of the joint. Also, it was quite the fashion show as on "casual days" most employees are rocking their favorite t-shirts. There is a chance that this place could improve -at least there are a lot of things they could do to make it better. Stay tuned to see how well they are doing at the beginning of 2019. The year ahead should be quite a ride. Highlights included: -getting tobasco sauce when we asked for water -slurred words and confusion with server on every encounter -incorrect change (but we did make a little money) -seeing a party leave mad as we walked in the door -their could be 5 managers - or none, hard to tell -our coffee was free because our server forgot who got it read more

Normally I enjoy eating at IHOP, even though I'm a diabetic; one doesn't have to order pancakes. Their latest menu has several omelette choices with interesting tweaks (the cheeseburger omelette was quite good). As I previously mentioned, I'm a diabetic and I have to be wary of my choices, including beverages. I wanted to order some tomato juice as it's naturally lower in sugar - they didn't have it. I said how about some V8? Nope. I asked what other low sugar juices they might have and was told the choices were orange, apple and grape... are you kidding me??? My low sugar choices were unsweetened coffee, unsweetened tea or diet soda. We'll, next time I go to IHOP I'm heading to the 47th St location - they have tomato juice, and their food is awesome. read more

Stopped in for a midday breakfast around 2pm. It was horrible. The sausage was slimy so I sent it back and asked for bacon in its place only to have the waitress show up 60 seconds later with my bacon....my husband said now wait a minute I know you didn't cook it that fast. Nope it'd been sitting there. Wasn't hot, tasted like grease and the worst part is we were the only customer in the whole place so WHY couldn't they make it fresh? How long had it been sitting there. Even worse was the waitress said she doesn't have a problem eating it when it's not freshly made....To finish the bad experience the eggs were rubbery and way too brown. Just an overall bad meal!!! Been here twice since it opened. It's not very busy yet service is slow. Tonight's "salad" was a bowl of lettuce, nothing else. Our drink came after asking twice. No drink refills until we asked as well. If they were slamming busy it would be awful. I'm not giving up but please speed up your service and attention to your table. read more
