guana Joe's in Crosby is really the only true place to go for dinner in town. That said, the building itself could use some TLC. It's old and needs a deep cleaning, a fresh coat of paint, and some attention to the uneven floors--especially near the front, where it leaks when it rains. What truly makes this place worth visiting, though, is the people. The staff is great, the managers are always visible and willing to help, and the bartenders are some of the most personable I've ever met. Julie and Cierra are fantastic behind the bar--friendly, attentive, and always ready to chat or lend a hand. Velia, the manager, goes above and beyond for her customers and ensures everyone feels taken care of. If the building ever gets the updates it deserves, Iguana Joe's would be hard to beat. We have been before and liked the playground for the kids even though the food was mediocre at best. This last time our drinks were not the same, partners strong, mine weak. The fajitas came out on a plate so hot that the chicken and the onions were burnt black and we had to scrape them off. Sent it back to the kitchen, finished our drinks and left. With all the amazing, local and authentic food around, this will always be a last resort from now on. read more

Well let me just say UNPROFESSIONAL The GM supposedly is the most unprofessional person that makes me not want to come back here. I feel sorry for his wait staff... We came here and we sat down and our table that they wanted us because we wanted to move outside once the waiters said we could move either than the GM started screaming at me saying we couldn't sit at the table so we could sit anywhere else and I told him to show me the table you'd like us to sit at and he couldn't do that. And he just started arguing with me. And at that point, I just don't have time to argue so very unprofessional. Somebody should really take over this Place. But I'll gladly take my business and my very large family across the street and give my money to them. If you want good food, it's OK if you want professional service don't come here. read more

I'm not even sure where to start with this one. Im sure the photos alone speak for themselves. We ordered door dash from iguana joes which has a 4.5 star rating on door dash.... How? I have literally no clue. Let's start with the Mac which was advertised with a photo that was completely different than what we received and the description even said it was rich and creamy.... It was literally craft Mac and cheese. The flautas absolutely had to have been shipped in pre rolled and frozen, ready to fry. The guacamole was %90 tomatoes %10 avocado. The kids quesadilla was 1/3 the size of my hand. The beans for sure came straight from the can and same with their cheese. They both tasted like straight up plastic. And while we are on the topic plastic, why does their salsa verde look like that. It had a blueish grayish hue and reminded me of the slime from Nickelodeon. We have been loyal patrons of Iguana Joe's for more than 20 years (before they expanded and had multiple locations). The food was always good and something you could count on being yummy. We had not been out to eat in quite some time and opted to go here last night. Much to our disappointment, the food was no longer what we had come to love. The red salsa was different and not to our liking. The guacamole was full of filler (like too many tomatoes) and the beans were just okay - not anything like they used to be. Overall, the food was only mediocre. Service, however, was great! Due to the changes in the food taste and quality, we will not be going back. read more

Just don't know where to go with this review. Coming from the Arizona and Southern California areas Tex-Mex is a very different style of Mexican food. But birria tacos and cilantro rice are fairly universal. The birria was good flavor wise but just was to greasy. The consume was also good. Cilantro rice was fairly average. The mixed drinks had no alcohol taste to them at all. Staff was prompt and very friendly. Inside could definitely use a face lift. Nothing wrong with the look they are going for but some facilities maintenance is definitely overdue. Bar area floor is visible in dis repair as the tile is all broken up as well as the concrete that is there now. Things like that have to make you question sanitation practices since you cannot properly clean a chipped and broken concrete floor. read more

We ordered the Chicken Diablo. The chicken was dry and the bacon around it was burnt black and some of the bacon was raw. The portions were extremely small. The ranchero beans were cold and we were there early enough they were not busy. So there was no excuse for cold beans. It has a good selection on their menu, I was surprised. The food is just ok, nothing amazing about it. If you just want some basic Tex-Mex food, then yes I'd recommend it. We enjoy going on Monday or Tuesdays, they have kids eat free. I usually order their taco salad. Husband orders their Deluxe platter. Our boys order their quesadilla, burger and pizza. It's not my favorite place but when you live in a small town and that's the only Tex-Mex place in the area without having to drive 20 mins to another location. read more

I'm not sure there's much that I can do as far as an in depth review, but I can give you several reasons to like Iguana Joe's. 1) They are open until 10 on Friday and Saturday nights, which is a plus when you don't want to or can't leave Crosby and are hungry later in the evening. 2) They have great chips and salsa, which taste like they're made in house. (FYI, the red salsa could use a bit more heat though.) 3) Their Mexican rice is great -- it's pretty plain and doesn't have a lot in it, but it has a solid flavor. 4) The grilled chicken in the "light" section of the menu is some of the better grilled chicken anywhere -- and it's not the usual light on flavor that you see on many diet/light menus. 5) The service is attentive and genuinely Texas friendly. In short, this is one of the best options around Crosby, especially if you'd like to eat local. read more

So absolutely terrible service. Waitress Vanessa was a joke. Left every dirty glass and plate on the table the whole time. We visited dear friends in Crosby and decided to get them lunch. I was not served in the restaurant, as I ordered take-out. I ordered a combo of beef/chicken fajitas. The Mexican rice is AMAZING. It reminds me of the kind I had as a child. Just yum. I do not do refried beans so I cannot speak to those. The fajitas were tasty and the flour tortillas were fresh as fresh can be. I was impressed with the green sauce. Very nice. We were given so many chips I think there is now a room dedicated to chip storage at my friend's house. Hands down, the best Mexican food I've ever had. Its kinda easy to impress me. Being from NJ we dont have authentic Mexican food. I tried several different places around Texas and this was by far the best. The tacos are excellent, the fajitas are awesome, the green salsa is to die for, and the pina coladas are top notch. Iguana Joes is a typical Tex-Mex joint where you can sit back and relax and enjoy a decent meal - just don't expect anything fancy. The food is mostly frozen and reheated foods (at least it tastes that way for the majority of the menu items), but for some reason we keep coming back - and I may have to blame that on the convenience (and of course the green sauce). read more
