The hulking shadow of the HomeGoods/TJ Maxx almost makes it invisible, if not for the shimmering flickers from the fireplaces inside. Great service! The staffer showed me the different types, gave recommendations on the kind I was looking for (actual wood-burners), and, in a shocking departure from the regular salesperson tactic, gave me pretty specific price ranges for my needs. She also gave me space to look around and didn't lurk over my shoulder. A+ work here. I describe Croft as an "Oh I like that one! Oh I like that one!" sort of place. You see a killer modern style that you like ... then a red-brick one that you like ... then a rounded frame one that you like ... and so on. You'll come out brimming with ideas. Still, Croft is a "full service" kind of place. They can help with material selection, work from your design, and give you professional design idea. Cast stone, brick, tile & rock, and other types of mantles, as well as the cabinets or shelves above (or to the sides). So, essentially, if you see something you like, you can get it, but if you don't, they can make it. You'll find the big brands of fireplaces: Valor (expert in radiant gas); Real Fyre (vented log sets); Fireplace Xtrodoinair (big on high-grade steel and glass, as well "Green" fireplaces); DaVinci (bringing sizes from small to the OMG of 21 ... you heard that right, 21 FEET); and Dimplex (very modern in their designs). I went in looking for a fireplace and may up getting even more! Croft has a great selection of burning stoves, including Lopi's large selection of wood- and pellet-burning stoves. If you want one of those brass burner fire pits, Warming Trends brags that theirs will give you "Twice the Flame, (but use) Half the Gas." It's a large, narrow store, with fireplace examples lining the walls all the way down. They must have 20-30 fireplaces in this joint. Croft Fireplace Center is a great place to start (and maybe finish!) your fireplace journey. As for my fireplace remodel, I'm just gettin' warmed up!

It's almost like it knew exactly when to stop working to inflict as much stress and inconvenience as possible. Also, when I went down to see what the problem was, I noticed some pooling water underneath our water heater (which was the same age). My house had obviously turned against me during the most stressful time of year. I called every HVAC/Plumbing outfit I could think of in the area. Just to get someone to come out and give me a bid was difficult. Evidently there is no shortage of houses that hate their owners, especially during the holiday season. With minimal response from the typical HVAC/Plumbing companies and a lot of runaround, I decided to try a Trane certified contractor for the furnace. I went to the Trane website and found there were only two approved installers in the area. One was Just Right Heating & Air who I actually had out to service my A/C back in July and the other was Comfort Solutions. I didn't really care for Just Right's overall business model and the hassle involved. They were the first that came out to take a look and tell me that it could not be fixed due to multiple cracks in the air return (which he showed me with the snake camera). After Just Right left, I decided to call Comfort Solutions. They were the original installer of the furnace when the house was built. They left a sticker on the unit with the model number and their phone number. I'll be completely honest, I hesitated calling them for a lot of reasons the main one being I wasn't impressed with the equipment's overall performance and reliability up to this point. I will say, I am very glad I made the call that day. From the start they were very friendly and they went above and beyond to get me taken care of as quickly as possible. Zeb came out the next day to evaluate my situation and put together a quote for a new system. When Zeb arrived, Black Diamond had just finished giving me a quote for the water heater. I had one of their reps out that morning quoting the furnace as well. Seeing the other contractors poking around, Zeb said, "I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but I can tell you, if you're getting multiple quotes, I'm not going to be the cheapest." I laughed right out loud at that. Honesty goes a long way with me. Zeb was very thorough. He went through the whole house measuring and counting the vents and returns (the previous bidder only counted vents on the main floor and stated that the basement didn't matter). It took Zeb about an hour to work it all up. When he was done we sat down and went through it all. He had a quick and cheap option that would have worked just fine for what I needed. He also was prepared with options and add-ons to meet my preferences. I wanted something that would heat and cool my home efficiently. I was also looking for equipment that would be reliable and appealing to a future conscientious buyer. Zeb ended up working late going back and forth with me over email to get it dialed in exactly how I wanted it. He even went out of his way to make sure I was aware of an expiring credit that was being offered from the power company if I were to choose to go with a heat pump option instead of the traditional A/C unit. At the end of the day, not only was Comfort Solutions the cheapest bid for exactly what I wanted, they were able to get me on the schedule later that week! It most certainly was a Christmas miracle. Jeremy showed up right on time the afternoon of December 23rd to install the new system. He worked until 8PM that night and came back at 7AM on Christmas Eve to finish it all up. Jeremy was a huge blessing to us right when we needed it most. He did such great work and I couldn't be happier with the result. I would not hesitate recommending Comfort Solutions to anyone who will listen and if you are fortunate enough to have Jeremy work on your system, you're welcome.

My mom had her furnace replaced and got a new AC back in 2013 from Comfort Solutions. Her AC…read morestopped blowing cold air this summer so we called Comfort Solutions to come and service it. A tech came and then called a Consultant (salesman) to come out. They told her that the compressor was fried- their words. They said they could replace it for $4000 but since the unit was old the other parts could stop working and they couldn't guarantee they could replace them if that happened. They recommended that she get a whole new AC and it would cost $9000. My mom is 85 and on a fixed budget. She has awesome neighbors who watch out for her. When she told them she was replacing her AC they told her to cancel and they wanted to check on it first. She did that and one of her neighbors who knows how to service ACs came over and checked it out. He said it looked great and it only needed Freon. $60 later it was fixed. I don't understand people who can do this to old people in good conscience. I don't think we will be calling them again. Don't take the first quote you get and get a second opinion before making a decision. Buyer Beware! **I wanted to give 0 stars but it wouldn't let me**

The last repair service, a few years ago, actually removed an emergency kill switch -- without telling us. Fire danger. That switch is no longer made by a truly reputable source, so the fireplace will remain decorative for now. Replacement is not an option $ wise for us. Bottom line, 5 stars for integrity and a local, family owned service that cares. And, this visit was not billed. Thank you, Love's Fireplaces.

Hearth and Home showed up on time as scheduled, and the representative Kyle, was very knowledgeable and professional. Super awesome to work with! They have a great show room and I was able to actually see the wood-burning stove before I ordered it. I also really appreciate that they were willing to paint my stove the color I wanted (new iron) instead of having it solid black. Mike did a perfect job painting & installing. Evidently, he has great experience with painting because there were no drips and he made sure to tape everything off so the result was absolutely perfect! They even painted the pipe to match! Love love love this company! I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a fireplace insert or a wood-burning stove. Five star products and service!!! There was little to no project management…read more Contractors were not aligned, not scheduled properly -- nobody was working to get our fireplace install done. Office care and follow-up was insufficient; no-one showed follow-up or leadership. I had to manage it all. And there was a lot of basic incompetence: the wrong fireplace being ordered and installed; the facade covering not being scheduled, then turning up in the wrong size. And so on. I have a busy working life, like we all do, and frequently I had to cancel work plans with little or no notice, to be at home to let contractors in, who then didn't or couldn't do their jobs. And when I reached out to the Hearth and Home office, fingers were pointed, but the job wasn't resolved. I'm left looking at a big invoice that I don't think this company has earned. They have made my life stressful, I'm really aggravated by the experience. Two months after I walked into the Sugar House office, the job still isn't done. In sum: I can't think of a more earned one-star feedback than the useless team at Hearth and Home. If you read this review, go somewhere else, please.

I recently had Uintah Gas Fireplace out to repair one gas fireplace and clean/check a second. The second, while working fine, was due for a cleaning and I certainly did not want both fireplaces to cease functioning during the peak of the winter heating season. It did take about 4 weeks for an appointment to be scheduled, likely due to the time of year. However, the re-confirmation for my appointment was done several days out, and on the day of service, my technician texted ahead of time so I knew when to expect him. Upon arrival, he had a mask and protective shoe covers, which was appreciated for obvious reasons. He quickly determined the cause of the problem with the first fireplace and thoroughly cleaned out the pipes and various parts. I like that he took the time to discuss with me how it works and recommended cleaning and maintenance. The second fireplace was also quickly cleaned and now both look brand-new and work better than ever. I see that the Yelp community gives them a low number of stars - but my personal experience was really fantastic. I would recommend them and hopefully you'll have the same experience as I did!

He was patient, and addressed all our concerns and questions promptly. The tile work was perfect, the vanity cabinet he designed was well made, and customized to our needs, and all the surface work from the floor up was excellent. Matt showed a good understanding of the plumbing and electrical, as well as all the codes and specifications needed. We couldn't be happier with the final result.
