I hired Dave a few years back to practically rebuild a chimney and fire box in a rental house we own in Salt Lake. His bid came in at half the price of the other chimney sweep I called, he was on time, he explained exactly what he was going to do and why, he cleaned up after himself, and the final job came in at exactly his estimate. A few years later, after heavy use by our tenants, I called him out to sweep the chimney. Again, he was very professional, calling to confirm his appointment just as he said he would, and arriving on time. He looked at the chimney and said that he couldn't in good conscience charge me for a cleaning I didn't need. He charged me $30 for an inspection (basically for his time and gas to come out), and that was it. We've recommended Dave to local friends and family and we've got a standing appontment with him to inspect the chimney annually because we know he'll be homest with us and professional with our tenants. read more

David was very personable, professional and articulate. His fee is $50 for a chimney/fireplace inspection which is $0 if a customer ends up needing repairs and using him for them. One thing I liked about David is that he documents very thoroughly what needs to be done by using the camera on his iPhone to show the customer what is really going on. This is important since the customer is not likely to get up on the roof to see it firsthand. The documentation gives the customer the assurance that the recommended repairs are truly necessary. David also takes photos of the completed work so the customer can actually see the quality of the work that was done. Another thing I liked about David is that he keeps you posted, by phone, to let you know when he's going to be there to do the work. All in all, David did great work at a reasonable price.
