David went above and beyond to help stop a chimney leak we had for 4-1/2 years. Besides two chimney caps, which helped considerably, he returned several times to help locate another source of the leak. As others have noted, he is professional, and I would note, he is also personable, and very persistent about fixing problems. We are very pleased with his work. David is good at working in a team with the customer, which I very much appreciate. read more

David is a gem. Our 1970's home in Murray was still using the original chase cover shoved onto newer siding, which meant water was getting into our chimney support. He replaced our chase cover and made it larger so that we can use it with different siding after a future project, he cleaned our chimney and taught us how to safely use our wood burning fireplace (we are new homeowners), and he was communicative and kind. We highly recommend him! read more

Had a great experience with Dave, he came over for a free consultation to talk with me about my options to help improve the energy efficiency of my fireplace and chimney. He gave me several suggestions, I opted to purchase some hardware from an online retailer and have it delivered to my home, once it was delivered Dave came back over to the home to have the hardware professionally installed. Will call Dave again in the future when we need our chimney and or fireplace serviced again. read more

We loved working with Dave! After having a raccoon work it's way into our chimney, we knew it was time to get it cleaned and capped. Dave gave us an outstanding bid and did all of the work himself very promptly. He made a custom cap for our second chimney as well and it looks fantastic. So happy to have found his business...highly recommend the price, the customer service, AND the quality! read more

Dave was always easy to get in touch with and provided thorough responses. He provided a reasonable estimate for a high quality metal chimney cap and brick repair. When we hit a snag with the damper downstairs after our initial order, he provided a quick and honest solution using a new damper and kept to his timelines. Overall, he was great to work with and recommend him to anyone for their chimney repair. read more

David was awesome. Had an issue with a historic gas fireplace and c02 coming into house. no one could seem to figure it out. Not only was he kind and patient, he came out within a day and took a look to assess and narrowed down the problem and solution within 15 minutes. I would highly recommend him for anything chimney/fireplace related. He literally saved the day And caught several issues that noone else seemed to know about or understand. Super nice guy and a kind assistant as well. Thanks to him! read more

Wow! Great customer service and an excellent job done. It's not very often when a company tells you hears what you need done and you have at least another 10 years on the rest! Don't bother shopping around honesty and quality goes a long way. read more

Great experience with David. He was very professional And friendly. Inspected my fireplace really well. Got up on the roof and took pictures of the chimney and showed me. The $35 inspection fee was more then worth my peace of mind to make sure my fireplace is in good condition. Call him. read more

I called Dave to ask him to look at our chimney. Left a voicemail. He called me back two days later and I missed his call. He said call him or text him. I texted him the next day. He said he was really busy but would work me into his schedule to look at the chimney and give me a quote. After 10 days of waiting, I've heard nothing else. Surprised because the reason I called him was because of his reviews. read more

Dave Wheeler, owner and sole proprietor of SCR is everything you wish all contractors would be: professional, honest, straight-shooter, reliable, and reasonably priced. I hired Dave a few years back to practically rebuild a chimney and fire box in a rental house we own in Salt Lake. His bid came in at half the price of the other chimney sweep I called, he was on time, he explained exactly what he was going to do and why, he cleaned up after himself, and the final job came in at exactly his estimate. A few years later, after heavy use by our tenants, I called him out to sweep the chimney. Again, he was very professional, calling to confirm his appointment just as he said he would, and arriving on time. He looked at the chimney and said that he couldn't in good conscience charge me for a cleaning I didn't need. He charged me $30 for an inspection (basically for his time and gas to come out), and that was it. We've recommended Dave to local friends and family and we've got a standing appontment with him to inspect the chimney annually because we know he'll be homest with us and professional with our tenants. read more

David was very personable, professional and articulate. His fee is $50 for a chimney/fireplace inspection which is $0 if a customer ends up needing repairs and using him for them. One thing I liked about David is that he documents very thoroughly what needs to be done by using the camera on his iPhone to show the customer what is really going on. This is important since the customer is not likely to get up on the roof to see it firsthand. The documentation gives the customer the assurance that the recommended repairs are truly necessary. David also takes photos of the completed work so the customer can actually see the quality of the work that was done. Another thing I liked about David is that he keeps you posted, by phone, to let you know when he's going to be there to do the work. All in all, David did great work at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend him to our neighbors. read more

I bought an older home and wanted to have the chimneys inspected before building a fire or have insert work done. Worked out an appointment date with Dave for the inspection and he kept me informed on arrival time. David was personable and knowledgeable and I wouldn't hesitate to contact again, which I may do for some additional work. read more

Hi there, this is Brandee & Pat from Sonata Street in Rose Park, a couple months ago you did some work on our fireplace(we're the ones with the 2 noisy red heelers). I never did a review so I wanted to make sure you got credit for your amazing work, timeliness, honesty & knowledge. Word of mouth goes far when your a local business trying to compete for business so I want everyone to know our entire experience was positive, easy and stress free. We appreciate you explaining things in detail and the difference between option #1 & #2 and the different costs associated with the different options. No pressure, complicated lingo, confusion or shadiness. When we talked to you we knew we were getting an honest. down to earth type guy and not a used car salesman type. I recommended you yesterday my my neighbor across the street Anne, she needs some masonry work done on her chimney pretty bad, I gave her your number yesterday, so hopefully you hear from her soon :) Keep up the good work, I hope your business continues to grow & flourish and thanks for putting up with Moto & Middey :) read more
