I have been shopping at the Super C on St Jacques for years and it is my favorite grocery store in…read morethe area. This is a no frills grocery store so if you are looking for trendy or high end specialty goods, this isn't the place for you. The store is clean, selection is decent, and the prices, especially their weekly sales, are amazing. For instance, my teenage nephew loves CookiesnCream ice cream and it was on sale this week for $2.50 a carton so I bought him two. The regular price is around the $6.00 mark, per carton. Shopping here, I can afford to spend on specials treats because of the money I save on basic staples, something more affluent people may take for granted but I really appreciate.

I wasn't too impressed with the Canadian grocery chains I visited (including loblaws and maxi) but out of the three super C was by far the best one. The prices in these grocery stores were well above what we pay in the U.S. I found super C's prices a little lower and the selection was a little better. Their selection of products was not as wide in variety as I'm used to. For example, they only had about three different brands of peanut butter and no flavored ones. I ended up buying a spaghetti squash to take home and some mini ice cream cones. We also bought some frozen vegetables to heat up at the hotel for $3 and a carton of nestle ice cream since we don't have them in the U.S. (It sucked by the way). If you want to check out a Montreal grocery chain super C is it. Just be warned that they are nowhere near as fun and full of different products like in the U.S.
