Inside view of Masala Dosa. Pretty much all potatoes and no peas.
Stacey G.

My first dosas! And they were delicious! I had the masala dosa, my mom had the spicy version of the dosa, nephews shared a giant portion of goat dosa. Loved the hot chai, rose teas, and mango lassi.

My order

Our favorite new delivery spot. I've only got the vegetarian options and they're delicious. Everything comes hot and super yummy.

Malai panner dosa

Overall it's better than not good. Past 2 times I've been there, my stomach didn't feel well within the hour I ate from there. Not sure why. Sometimes I have to wait about 5 minutes to get someone's attention in the back to order. Bathroom always has a strong scent from cleaning. They serve on these cool wooden looking plates. Good water. Fast cooking. Plenty of parking.

We have been multiple times to this place but did not get the chance to write about this find of ours! In this desert of Indian food eateries ( the Brentwood-Antioch-Oakley area), this is hands down the best restaurant serving South Indian fare. They are still in stages of settling down and are still running in soft opening mode. Food tastes truly authentically Indian with accurate flavors captured in the dishes, though some turn out of be too spicy for the spice wimp (me) Everything is served piping hot and a visitor soon gravitates towards a favorite. Mine is the Ghee Roast Dosa - theuly authentic in taste and flavor while my better half swoons over a Mumbai Jini Dosa. And wash it all down with Thums-up Masala soda! Buuuurrpp! Con : limited menu / fare with a focus only on specialty Dosas . They should expand to other South Indian fare and serve South Indian decoction coffee - my ardent wish Pro : whatever they make, they make very well!! We will continue to come here regularly!

Masala dosa to go

Food was ready very quickly, nice takeout packaging, and overall solid food. The masala dosa was tasty. Not the best I've had, but not bad at all. The dosas are filling and the chutneys were pretty good. I wouldn't hesitate to come back. Clean interior, staff was friendly and efficient.

Great food! Definitely a once a month stop for us... The service is super fast! The sign has to be changed though. Wonderful yummy South Indian food. Best I have ever had locally in Bay Area.

I'd never had idly or dosas before and this was a great intro!! Food- We ordered plain idly, ghee roast dosa, masala dosa and chicken dosa. Everything was delicious but I couldn't handle some of the spiciness of ONE of the chutneys and the chicken dosa - that's just my faulty taste buds. Service- they call your name & you pick up everything. The workers seemed friendly enough. You can pick up your own leftover box to go but you need to ask for the special cups for any leftover chutney and sambar. Ambiance- extremely casual. There are sinks to wash hands. Not busy on a Friday 12:30-2pm for lunch. Will definitely return to try more!!

Great food, excellent service . A little small place but nice! Adding more food items and serving at the tables will increase the patronage.

Food taste is gr8. I wish quantity of sambhar be little bit more. 4 oz is too less to finish the whole dosa.

I was looking for somewhere to eat with a friend who was visiting out of town and came across this…read moreplace on Yelp. We were in the mood for Indian food. When we arrived, we noticed the sign outside above the door said "Lumpia Factory", but another sign on the ground outside said the actual name of the place, so it was a little hard to find. Unexpectedly, when we walked in, we noticed it was just their kitchen and not actually a restaurant. They have some tables and chairs for you to eat at, but they are not serviced. The food they were making smelled too good, so we decided to just stay and order some food. We got the stuffed onion naan, stuffed cheese naan, samosa chaat potato vindaloo, baingan bharta (eggplant), and bhindi masala (okra). My favorite dish was the potato vindaloo as it had the perfect flavor and the samosa chaat. The stuffed naan isn't really anything by special, but the naan itself was good. Next time, I would just get garlic naan or plain naan. Overall, the food was great and very flavorful and tasty. Would definitely come here again!

Pippal's Emeryville location is the perfect location for an elevated Indian dining experience…read more Beginning with ambience, the space is comparably serene to its fast-food neighbors, on the second floor of Bay Street Emeryville. One thing to note about the location is that there is no built-in restroom within Pippal, and they share a restroom with the mall's second floor that's around a 3 minute walk away. The space is elegant and tastefully decorated: great for date-nights and gatherings alike. The volume inside the restaurant is not too loud. The service was spectacular - Salman was incredibly funny, accommodating, and gave amazing recommendations for our first time here. We were just in time to experience one of the last days of the Alora x Pippal August collaboration, a fusion between coastal Mediterranean cuisine and regional Indian cuisine. We went with Salman's suggestion of the family-style izgara aile tarzi, a loaded plate of mixed grill of chicken shawarma, lamb adana kebab, shrimp pincho and beef shashlik. We also ordered butter chicken and masala fries, and mango lassi from their non-alcoholic drink menu. The shrimp pincho was undeniably the standout dish. The juicy shrimp meat complemented the vibrant flavor from the adobo marination process, and I loved it even though I never eat shrimp! The butter chicken was also quite tender and flavorful, which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend it! Thank you to Salman and the Pippal Emeryville team for having us.

We went for the Emeryville Restaurant Week special lunch there today, at 12:45…read more We were completely taken aback at the miniscule size of the fish dishes. The quantity of fish in the appetizer and entree was almost one-third the quantities in the chicken appetizer and entree. The butter chicken was really good, though. As were both desserts. The service was painfully slow, totally inattentive. Had a long wait for everything, even after the restaurant had practically emptied out, and there was only one other table of 2 left. The waitress forgot our chai order. And for $6, they give you a small cup of tea that's not even full. Totally absurd, given that $14 buys you a cocktail. I have had some very satisfying meals there in the past. But the Restaurant Week lunch was quite disappointing.

Their menu has a nice selection. The Dahl puri chaat immediately had me curious and for $8, I'm glad I gave this appetizer a try. They're crispy flour puffs filled with tamarind chutney, mini, yogurt, garbanzo beans and chickpeas, lightly fried. It's a guaranteed flavor bomb! Chicken Chilli MoMo $17 was a little too tangy than what I normally like. Despite the name, it's not that spicy to me. Their lunch plates have a nice variety of food and resembles a bit of a cafeteria tray. Butter chicken was $21.99 and lamb curry was $23.99 -- the portions of actual meat was a little sparse but the flavor was good and both meats were tender. Service was friendly and prompt. If you prefer to sit inside, it is beautifully decorated. Total bill was $93.10, including a mango lassi not pictured for $4.50 -- definitely tell they used fresh mangoes! Overall a delightful experience.

Ordered for delivery so can't say much about the ambiance…read more The food was packed tight in a plastic container, and was still pretty hot. I got the chili chicken momos. I always have to try the momos when trying a new Nepalese place. The momos didn't look close to the picture on the menu. My food looked like it was thrown into the container and shipped off, tumbled, upside down, and sideways. The dumpling wrap was almost on the soggy side. A little more time in the sealed box and they would have been soggy. Overall though, the dish was good with a bit of spice level. This is more of a 3.5 stars than a 4 stars.
