We stumbled upon this restaurant on Yelp in a sea of chain restaurants that is Antioch's calling card. I decided to roll the dice. I got to the strip mall and couldn't find the restaurant because it still says Crawfish, which I don't believe is traditional Indian cuisine... When we walked in, we were only non-Indian customers, which is a good sign. We stood there puzzled, looking at the menu, and one of the staff came and asked us if we had any questions. He helped us decipher the menu, and we went with his recommendations. We got a few classic dosas and a signature dosa that came sliced. It's incredibly reasonably priced, too. They were way better than we expected and way more filling. The sauces were excellent, although one was a bit too spicy for my kids. It was fun seeing them make them and trying to figure out how to eat them while not looking (even more) like idiots as we watched YouTube videos on proper eating etiquette. This cafe is located by Sylvia's Kitchen in the terrace shopping center. The restaurant has plenty of tables for you to share a meal with your family. They have a sink to wash your hands before and after your meal. We ordered a couple items on the menu: Hyderabadi dosa, Mumbai Dosa, Mumbai Bhaji Dosa, masala dosa and a few others. The food was delicious. The dosas were crispy and the staff was extremely friendly and asked us about our experience and how they can improve. This is our second visit to an ID Company restaurant. The first was at a location in Fremont and the second here. I can say the experience and ambience is far superior here as it is not as crowded - the food is top-notch. We ordered the idly, masala dosa and a new paneer bhurji dosa - all of them exquisite. The idlys were soft and fluffy while the dosas crispy yet filling. All the items were accompanied by a generous serving of sambhar, coconut+tomato+peanut chutneys. I was in the mood to try something different and ordered the Malai Paneer dosa. Salom helped me at the register. I may have spelled his name wrong. He was very friendly and informative. He asked me what spicyness level I like, how hungry I was and asked if I had any dietary restrictions. I said I was very hungry and initially was going to just order the Masala Dosa bust he then suggested the Malai paneer dosa which was perfect. Very satisfying and great flavors you can control with the variety of sauces they offer you. My favorite was the peanut and tomato. It was a good amount of food I couldn't even finish it. It felt healthy with all the veggies I did not feel too weighed down after. Im not a fan of goat cheese and strong flavors like that. An absolutely gem of a restaurant in Antioch! We (3 adults) went there on a Sunday for brunch and they had a special: Mumbai Style Matka Dosa. And OMG! We were in heaven! The dosa was crispy and delicious, and the sauce in the Matka devouring. We also ordered the Hyderabadi Podi Dosa, Malai Paneer Dosa, Kandha Podi Idly, filter coffee, Mango Lassi, Rose Lassi, and the Masala Soda with Thumbs Up. OMG the food was sooooo good!! The South Indian side of my Soul was in heaven! The dosas were crispy and tasty. The mango lassi was authentic and Arjun from the restaurant said he extracted the juice himself. The Kandhi Podi Idly was scarfed down by me as if I've never had any. But the best part was their special: the Matka Dosa. The sauce in the matka was unbelievable! I literally licked the sauce from the matka with the dosa. This place is to die for! Local strip mall joint that caters to mostly Indian families. To say that this is the real deal is spot on. The Dosas are wonderful and so are the chutneys. Stopped by after getting some groceries at Nu Delhi Bazaar. Had Vijayawada Paneer Dosa as well as the Mutton Dosa (forgot the official name). I brought my parents here, and my god was our experience awful. Firstly, they had the AC turned off, it was at least in the 90s inside! I don't know how the poor cooks were working in such extreme heat. The water is kept in the corner, and there was dust on the cups. We ordered 4 different dosas, and they all came out one at a time so we couldn't even enjoy eating them together. Lastly, we asked for a Togo box, and the gentleman said it'll be $1 lol at that point I just wanted to leave. Check out the menu- they only serve idlis and dosas here, with a few drinks and some desserts. The idlis were super fresh, as were the dosas. Very 'clean' tasting and full of flavor. The chef came up and chatted with us, telling us that they start from scratch every day and discard any left overs. We also had the kala khatta soda. That was pretty amazing too. I am not one to write reviews but I was so disappointed and frustrated with this establishment that I DID write a review and offered some suggestions a few months ago. I have been back there a few times after that. The first time I was back, the managers recognized me and we had a productive, positive conversation. I thought they are just going to forget about the opinions of one old guy that rarely visits and orders cheap dishes..... However, I have to say, they have taken my feedback very seriously and made the changes that were so badly needed. Now, it is a pleasure to visit! Their food has always been good, but now their service is also beyond reproach, they are attentive, and very willing to comply with any reasonable requests such as 'masala on the side' or 'coconut chutney instead of the tomato chutney'. They even pay attention and offer you extra sambar (no charge!) if they see you are out.... Well done! Keep it up and I have no doubt you will see great success. Went for lunch today at 'Id Cafe' in Antioch. What a pleasant surprise! This is an Indian restaurant specializing in South Indian dishes (Dosa, Idly, Mehdu Vada, etc.). We were a group of 6. We ordered 2 Bombay pav bhaji Dosa, 2 Paneer Tilka Dosa, 2 Masala Dosa and couple of Idly dishes. Each dish was amazing and absolutely delicious. Dosa is served with three different types of sauces (Cilantro,Peanut and Tomato) along with Sambhar. Each one of these were very tasty and complimented the main dish. Service was excellent. Salman greeted us and took care of us. He was very helpful and accommodating. This is the only South Indian restaurant in East Contra Costa County (that I know of). I recently visited Chennai Dosa Express at Concord IDcafe's Antioch management newly opened and visited both locations and while I was excited to try their offerings, my experience was somewhat mixed. The has a simple, modern setup with a clean and cozy atmosphere, which is perfect for casual dining. The seating arrangement is comfortable, though the space feels a bit compact, especially during peak hours. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which added to the positive vibe. The Cheif Raja great experience in this south Indian food industry and His is also one of the partner this restaurant I appreciated ID cafe management and giving worker became partnership. This is really good heart owner can do this type of chance.Overall Experience While new shop has great potential, there are a few areas for improvement, especially in terms of food consistency and service speed. I'll definitely give it another try in the future, hoping these kinks get ironed out as they find their footing. This is our 2nd time trying their dosa and I must say this is one of the best dosa places in the Bay Area. We tried Mumbai Pav bhaji dosa, masala dosa, and goat keema dosa. All the dosas were made fresh and so flavorful! My favorite is Goat keema dosa and the best part is their meat is Halal. Loved it !!
