Why are barber shops closed at random business hours!? Eric calmy offered to cut my hair, despite indicating that he usually takes appointments. After he wrapped up cutting his kids hair, he took his time with mine, asking for general direction but not micromanagement. On the downside, when I DO make an appointment, I still have to wait 40 minutes b/c the appointment system here works a lot like a place WITHOUT an appointment system. Hey, it's THE BEST BARBERSHOP IN BROOKLYN so that's okay. I'm repeatedly impressed by how many requests he gets. He must have turned away 4 walk-ins out of 7 who came to see him while he was cutting my hair. He received about 15 calls for appointments during that time. The haircuts are perfect. Probably the best cuts i've gotten in 30 years of living in Brooklyn. At only $11 per cut, you won't find a better haircut for the price. Side Note: It's very fascinating to see how mixed his clientele is in terms of ethnicity/religion. This place is about as "Brooklyn" as it gets. I had tried salon 718, a salon on Vanderbilt (no longer there), Idalis and a travelling stylist. The traveling stylist did my hair the best and i had been trying to recreate that experience for a year now. After a bad experience at one of the salons above. I had been feeling rather dejected. I wanted all my hair gone as I had suffered some serious breakage and stragly straight hairs on my curly fro. My coworker recommended Patrick at Good Times and I'm glad I went. (@__slaygod) Patrick colored my hair, cut and silk press at a very reasonable price. He immediately recognized that my hair needed steaming and didn't rake through my hair like other stylist sometimes do. I'm so in love with my color and my cut and believe i am finally in good hands and am now a faithful client. Unfortunately, the past three visits have left me frustrated. I usually book with Yuriy, who is an excellent barber and has always given me great haircuts. The issue is that Yuriy has not shown up for my last three scheduled appointments made through their online booking system. That system allows you to choose a specific barber and time, but if the barber doesn't actually check or honor those appointments, it defeats the purpose. The first two times this happened, I got a haircut from the other 2 barbers in the shop; one the first time, the other the second time. The results were ok--not bad, but not at the same level as Yuriy's work. The third time, Yuriy again didn't show up, and one of the other 2 barbers called him. Yuriy was apologetic, and asked me to come back the following day at a specific time, which I did, but once again he didn't show, and after waiting around for 15 minutes, I left. I don't mind trying different barbers, but once I found a barber I like I prefer to stick to him. if I book a specific person and they repeatedly fail to honor appointments, it feels unprofessional and unreliable. At that point, there's no reason for me to keep booking here when I could just walk into another shop. It's unfortunate, because Yuriy is truly very good. But unless the booking system and reliability improve, I can't recommend this barbershop if you want a specific barber to cut your hair.
