This review is in regard to Icon Roadside Assistance dba Idol Automotive Towing located in Odessa,Texas. When you Google "Icon Roadside Assistance" as well as "Icon Roadside Assistance dba Idol Automotive Towing" it appears that they are two separate businesses. There is a discrepancy with the phone numbers, addresses as well as the website addresses of these businesses. There also was not a listing for either business in the phone book.
I was caught in flood waters on Dixie Blvd. in Odessa,Texas on Friday, September 7, 2018. I contacted Midland Motors Buick, Cadillac, GMC dealership in Midland, Texas to assist me in towing the vehicle to Midland, Texas. It was an extremely stressful day as my grandson had surgery earlier that morning and I had purchased my Cadillac CTS 4 to 5 months prior to this incident. Several hours later, a tow truck driver with Icon Roadside Assistance dba Idol Automotive Towing, contacted me and told me he would meet me to load and transport the vehicle to Midland earlier than previously stated. When I arrived, the tow truck driver was already at the location where my vehicle had been pushed out of the flood waters. After the vehicle was loaded onto the tow truck, I asked what I owed him and he said $1,200.00. He then laughed and gave me a few other amounts before stating that he would take $80.00. I wasn't in the mood for his attempt at humor, however gave him a $100.00 bill. He then stated that he wasn't sure if he had change for the $100.00. At the time, I was not aware that Cadillac Customer Care (Cadillac) pays 100% of the towing charges regardless of the reason.
On Monday of the next week, I reported the incident to the Cadillac Roadside Assistance as well as the local dealership in Midland. I did receive a call from the tow truck driver that his company was aware that "Cadillac" would pay for the towing charges and he would meet me at a location of my choice to return the money. This went back and forth (with me initiating most of the texts and phone calls) for a couple of months. He was never available to meet with me and became irritated that I was contacting him. Eventually, I never heard from him again. To this day, the money has not been returned.
On the plus side, the delivery of the vehicle to the dealership in Midland went smoothly even though it was eventually totaled. I hope no one ever requires towing assistance under my particular circumstances, however you may wish to contact another Roadside Assistance Company if you are in need of towing in Odessa, Texas.
