The absolute worst dip manicure I've ever had. I scheduled an appointment and 15 minutes into the the appointment, I was passed off to another nail technician stating my appointment would interfere with another upcoming appointment. I should have left then! I showed the tech the design and colors I had in mind and left disappointed with something totally different. The nails are thick and show all the imperfections of filing. I came here on my lunch break ( I did not disclose that I was on break since I didn't want a rush job). I have natural nails and just wanted a gel manicure. This was an interesting mani. The nail tech did not soak my nails/hand, she did everything "dry", she put on cuticle remover and then did my cuticles just with moistness of the cuticle remover. Then she did my gel portion. I have been coming here since I moved to Newberg. I like to stick to what I know, but after today I will never go back. I asked for the dip nail polish and asked Kathy to take care of my cuticles, which is my main reason for getting my nails done. She told me they do that after the dip to avoid burning. I thought that made sense. Until she started to cut my cuticles dry and cut 3 of my fingers. I told her I was bleeding and she said, well you asked for your cuticles to be cut. Then when my finger didn't stop bleeding I asked for a bandage and she told me not to cover it up and that it was better to air dry. I have never been more upset after getting my nails done. I do this as a treat to myself and expect somewhat of a pampering for what I'm paying. I didn't expect to get blamed for lack of carelessness. Also, an apology can go a long way. I will never go here again nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone I know Update: The manager of icon nails did reach out to me and told me he would speak to Kathy about being more careful. Staff was nice and the place was clean. I did not have an appointment, however they had time and requested I wait 20 mins, I waited, they sat me and did my nails. I walked out with a shellac manicure. They use towels to dry your hands after rinsing, I had fuzz on my nails, the tech did not remove the fuzz, just continued painting. It is now 9:45, my nails were done at 4:00 pm and one of them is peeling. read more

My friend got me a gift certificate to here and I am new to the area and looking for a new salon; so I tried this place out. It was very clean, everyone who I came in contact with were nice. Lots of choices for pedicures and nail colors. The lady who did my pedicure was pushy for me to get gel. Not my usual but it does look good. My plan was just get black tips with gold line under the black but she suggested what is pictured. The gal who did my full set was very nice, did great work and worked fast. The main downside of this place is the price. They try to add every little thing then charge you for it. It's ridiculous. When asked what package I would like for myself and my daughter, I clearly pointed to the #2 princess package that was $19. She nodded and agreed. For myself I selected #2 (the deluxe). I was SHOCKED when they told me that my daughters was $36! I pointed out and said my daughter was to get the princess package #2. My friend just got back from urgent care. She contracted a NASTY bacterial infection ALL OVER HER FEET!! She is in horrible pain and now on very toxic antibiotics. DO NOT USE THIS SALON!! Never again. I'm honesty not sure how they are still in business. They're staff is unprofessional and not very knowledgeable. Not to mention sloppy and judgy. Both my friend and I were cut at our visit, I had nail polish all over my hands when we were done, some nails look like I've already had a week grow out (the day we got them done), and some have polish over the cuticle. When I told her what nails to use the accent she looked at me like I was retarded and said "really?". Not okay. This is the worst nail salon I've been to, probably in all my life. The man owner, there is really something wrong with him. My acrylic nails had a weeks worth of grow out and I asked him if they could just put some nail polish on he refused and fought me about this for about four minutes. He literally repeated himself about 10 times saying you can't do that it's going to look so ugly. I should've left then and there, that was so weird. A nice lady ended up doing a fine job on putting a coat of nail polish on. Then when he went to charge me he said he told me the wrong price "that I'm getting a deal and he swiped my card for the five extra dollars that he change the price to" then I tried to give the lady who actually did my nails a small tip and he yelled at her to give him the money. Katie is so nice and really paid attention to detail. Each nail is exactly the same shape and length. No rough edges and clean underneath. i came in to icon nails today and the employees were so nice!! i got a set of gel nails, applied by sara, who was so nice and polite to me!! she kept the convo going, was gentle on my nails, she was just so sweet!! after she finished applying the acrylics on my nails, i got moved over to katie. kaite was painting my nails and was designing them!! she did a fantastic job with the design!! the color was a little sloppy, but not too sloppy. i will definitely be returning soon, in the next month or so, and i definitely recommend others to visit icon as well!! read more

She was insistent that she do my nails first (acrylic) and I didn't insist. My fault. My toe polish was twice as thick as necessary and the acrylic on my nails looks like Coke bottles. My cuticles had been cut and scrapped with both the tools and rough treatment of the file on several fingers during a gel manicure. The tech also used the cuticle cutter to remove excess gel from the pads. (Not recommended for sanitary reasons) and I saw her drop instruments on the floor and use without sterilization. Moreover, people were offered and allowed to share files with others to reduce costs (family members & friends). I had pain, swelling and a fever the following days. I ended up with a staph infection under the nail bed. Incision and Drainage Surgery had to be performed on my finger. I had to be put on antibiotics for 2 weeks. When I contacted the salon, they would not return my calls. I documented everything-and was never refunded nor compensated for anything. It wasn't until recently when I became aware that many other people have been having similar issues that I decided to share this experience here. I wish my case and others would have handled professionally and I would have been happy to give them another chance. read more

I have used Icon nails for years. I have been happy with the service in the past. This last time I got a pedicure and my toe was trimmed to short on the side. I got a severe infection in the toe that has been a nightmare to deal with. It was clear from my doctor's examine it was from the pedicure. I expected remorse and for Icon to make it right because it was their action that caused this injury to me. I expected a refund for my gift certificate that I can no longer use and a refund for the pedicure itself. I never even asked for medical expenses or my other numerous expenses related to this infection. I missed days of work and had medical expenses. NO pedicure is worth that! Be warned coming here is putting your health at risk and can have wide reaching consequences. The management I spoke with had no remorse, refused to refund the remainder of my gift card that my husband had purchased for Mother's Day. I told them they had a chance to make this situation right and they had no issues making it clear money is far more important to them then customer service, loyalty or satisfaction. I will do everything I can to make sure others do not go through the literal pain and suffering I have endured from one pedicure. Update: going on a week and a half fighting this infection and just had another doctor appointment and prescribed an extended antibiotic course. Update again: A month later seems the owners of Icon nails have found this honest review and are texting me to remove it despite still no effort on their part toward remorse or making the situation right. I was not mad or upset over the initial infection just wanted to have my gift card refunded and go on my way. They refused to make this situation right. I was next door at Safari Sam's, trying to decide how to kill 2 hours while my son was at a birthday party. 2 doors down was this salon. It looked clean, had people in it, and had an available nail tech. I have my own files and such that I keep in the car, so I gave them a shot. With as many nail salons as there are in the area, most places try hard to do a great job to keep you from going somewhere else. Not here. If I wanted someone to file my nails and do a quick polish while on my lunch break or something, I guess they would be ok. There was NO service, no attention to detail. The lady who was doing my mani was uninterested, spoke very little english, made no eye contact, didn't attempt conversation. She rushed through everything. There was almost no massage (literally 30 seconds per arm, no massage on my hand at all). She hap-hazardly pushed back my cuticles and then just tried to sand them off with the block. By the time we got to the polish, I was already bummed about the service. But the kicker was this- while polishing my nails, she kept leaving wide un-polished strips on the sides. When I asked her if she could get a little closer to the edge, she looked at my nail, then me, then curtly said "no." and went back to what she was doing. REALLY? NO? I've been getting regular mani's for oh, 15 years. I paint my own nails often as well. There was NO good reason she couldn't have accommodated my wish. She scuffed my nail when finishing up and just clear coated MORE over the top of the obvious mistake. At this point, I didn't dare ask her to fix it. She put me under the drying station, came back after 10 minutes, told me I was good to go. I paid, and left, still VERY tacky from all the clear coat she piled on. Went home and took off the shoddy polish job and did my own. I don't usually give low ratings to businesses, but when it's ALL about the service and I get poor service, it's warranted. My sister-in-law made an appointment here for us for 4:30. We arrived 5 minutes early and it was pretty busy. A man greeted us and we let him know we had an appointment at 4:30. He looked confused and then looked at the book and told us that we were confused and our appointment was at 5. I could clearly see 4:30 written next the the name on the book. My first visit to Icon Nails, I came early, right after they opened. As the first customer that morning I received a friendly greeting and offered a beverage of choice. I went for hot jasmine tea even though Red and White wine was available. I was quickly seat and soaking my feet in hot water. Being a guy, I opted for the Paraffin Pedicure, although I do like getting the Deluxe on occasion. Linn was awesome and did a great job, including removal of an ingrown toe nail. I rarely have any pain from from the ingrown nail when properly worked during a Pedicure. Overall, I enjoyed and felt relaxed and rejuvenated. I will be back again. read more

worst manicure i've EVER HAD. i went in on new year's eve to get a brand new set of acrylic nails. first off i was there for two hours and she spent an hour and 15 minutes just filing/shaving my nails down which was kind of annoying but i figured since it took her so long maybe they're going to be a really good set. but then that night the pointer finger and middle finger on my right hand broke. 4 days later the pointer finger on my left hand broke, then the middle finger of my left hand the following day. i am not rough with my nails and i have had acrylics for over two years this length without problems. i rarely break nails yet it's been a week and 4 are already gone. not only a waste of time but also a HUGE waste of money, wouldn't recommend. read more

What I'm less than pleased with is that today is day 5 after my pedicure and my nails are already chipping, I'm not rough on my feet so my past pedicures actually never chip, just grow out. The paint is thin in some areas and you can see the nail bed underneath, I left with dry skin on both my feet (mostly the heels) and poorly trimmed cuticle's. Been going here for a few years. The owners are very nice and I can usually walk in. Love their pedicures but sometimes would like a better leg massage. They also do great at Shellac Nails too. My mom and I went in for a relaxing pedicure. The lady doing my mom's nails was very polite and took her time but it was a completely different story with my lady. Right from the get go, she sat me down and left without turning on any water. I didn't think anything of it until she came and turned on the water, she must've not checked the heat because my feet turned a solid red color and I had to take my feet out.. It's not like she noticed though because she left to take yet ANOTHER phone call leaving me to just sit there whilst my mom was getting massaged. She was very distracted, and took 3 or 4 calls in the middle of my appointment. There were 2 ladies who came in, the lady doing my nails then asked if they and my mom would like any refreshments completely ignoring me. I was mortified by the whole experience quickly paying and running I completely forgot to catch her name. I got home to access my nails and there were dry clumps of nail polish on a few of my toes. I am abseloutley addicted with gel nails and love coming here to get them done, especially by Mike. Their prices are pretty reasonable considering they always have coupons available as well. I didn't ask the name of the guy who did my nails but it was my first time going to this location because I heard great things from multiple people, they all said ask for Katie which I tried to but she was too busy. He repeatedly tried pushing my cuticles back after I asked him to please stop because he was hurting me, now a day later where my cuticle should be, looks infected. I had to repaint a couple fingernails at home because he wouldn't let them dry before putting another coat on. Two of them got messed up from doing nothing. He made me bleed multiple times and got a lot of the acrylic powder on my middle finger not even my nail and it felt like my finger was disintegrating. He also didn't even out the acrylic powder on a couple nails and it looks like a step in a staircase. If I ever return I will never let him touch my hands again. I have always been a walk-in and never had to wait long. Loved soaking my feet in the warm water and having my legs and feet massaged. Left and me toes always looked pretty!
