Showed up at 9:50am as a walk-in and the gentleman at the counter greeted me and reached out to his 10:30am appointment to see if they could be pushed back so he could service me! There were only 3 techs working when I went in, and even though it was quiet, each tech was with someone and it seemed like a solid team and work environment. I had a really good experience, plus my nails turned out freaking bomb It was my first gel-x set because I was tired of how thick acrylic sets can be and how the color on them often chips/scratches off. Ky paid such great attention to detail, checking the underside of my nails after polishing them to make sure they were neat all the way around and periodically asking if I was satisfied with how they looked. My favorite nail shop! I always get a good manicure and pedicure here. The technicians are friendly and listen to the type of service you want and tries to achieve your expectation. I always get the basic shellac manicure and a regular pedicure. I haven't gotten any designs and I am not sure if they specialize in the trendy nail designs. Maybe the basics from what I've seen them do on others. They offer dip nails, acrylics and etc. They are clean and use plastic to cover the foot bin. I was greeted instantly and they were able to see me because it says walk in's are welcome on the YELP. Super glad I came in when I did, about 5 minutes after I came they became super busy and were no longer taking walk in's. I enjoyed the cleanliness of this place. Ann did my nails and she was great and very polite. Rose did my toes and my pedicure was done so great. I felt like I had brand new feet. She's been doing pedicures for 19 years! I came in to get what I thought were corrections to my nails, but Ky let me know my original nails weren't bad. I wanted coffin and they said they'd try, but to come back at 5 because there were other appointments. That wasn't a problem at all and I came back. I was told to pick out my color and there was some slight confusion as it was thought I was getting a fill-in but only 4 of my nails had acrylic on them and that was because they had broken in the past and that was how they were fixed. Ky told me he thought I was getting a fill because my nails looked good, they didnt realize they were my natural nails, which made me feel great. I didn't catch my nail techs name and that is my fault. She took her time to soak off the acrylic and educated me on nail shapes for my nail beds and look. We weren't sure I was going to be able to do coffin shape, so I let them know cutting down and square was ok too, but she made it work! Ky was funny while there and very nice. I really appreciated them fitting me in and having me come back so I could get my nails done. I'll definitely be back because it was very great. My nail tech told me I had good cuticles too and I was shocked, but enjoyed the compliment. The atmosphere was very nice and friendly. Shop aas very clean without the super strong smell of nail supplies. Everyone was easy to talk to and nail utensils were sterilized. read more

Update: I have a usual nail salon where I love the techs, but since I have started using dip powder, I prefer to go to a place with a large availability of colors. I came back to Icon (it's been almost 2 years since I've been back because love my other spot), and Ann did my nails again. I was looking to get a very natural color and showed her a picture on Pinterest for inspiration. I didn't see anything on their nail sample colors, but Ann went and found powder color #141. She said she didn't even know she had it! Probably the prettiest natural color I've ever had - as it's hard to find a color that complements my skin tone. Pedicure was awesome, Ann followed my requests to a tee and shapes my toenails to my preference. She brushing of my toes for exfoliation was a nice surprise! Have had such a nice experience here, highly highly recommend this salon. Make sure you call to make an appointment! Super nice staff and they did a great job with my shellac mani and pedicure! Unfortunately, they were super short staffed on the day of our visit, so we had to wait 30 minutes for our services. Will definitely go back and see Ann. read more

Its a nice place and seems pretty clean. They dont force you to talk to them which is nice. I got a pedicure with a massage and everything but my tech didnt even massage me just lightly rubbed in the lotion, i mean it felt like she was painting my feet not massaging them. Then she gave me the ugliest design, so bad that i told her i didnt like it. And she said thats what i asked for even when i asked her to change it. I also asked for teal but she used sky blue which made it look worse. It was a really otherwise good experience other than that, but if im paying you for something and i dont like it you shouldnt make me take it. I had the great pleasure of meeting Ann for a nail appointment yesterday! I believe her husband and herself own this nail shop so that was pretty neat. Anyways..... Ann left my nails looking stunning! I got a pedicure and a gel manicure. She shaped my toe nails wonderfully and did an excellent job with scrubbing and cleaning out all my dead skin my hands were a last minute decision and I was really glad I took her advice and got gel. I'll be travelling so I wanted something low maintenance that would last. If you look at the pics, just look at that shine my nails were not very long so she did a really great job of working with what I had and somehow making them look even and nice. I spent a few days on Yelp looking for the best nail salon and this one had the most consistent 5-stars. Also, when you search 'nail salons' and sort by the rating, this place comes up as #2. Its located on the corner of Kempsville Rd and Volvo Pkwy and its right next to Harris Teeter. As I walked in an hour and a half before closing, the guy working on a client asked what service I needed. I was told there would be a little wait which was fine by me, as it seemed like he was gonna squeeze me in even after closing time. I walked around for a bit and then came back and sat down till it was my turn. He offered complimentary drinks in the mini fridge and candy. I was looking to get rid of the full set I had and get a pink and white ombré full set. There were many pictures on their Yelp page with their previous work that looked similar to what I wanted. I had a coffin shape, but I wanted to get a rounded shape this time. He removed my acrylics and then started his work. He didn't seem like he was rushing and he was very attentive to detail and inspected each nail individually. In the end, my nails were exactly how I wanted them to be. My nail tech was Ky and he was funny and easy to talk to. This is my new nail spot for sure. read more

This is by far the best salon in this area. I have probably tried 10-15 from Suffolk to Virginia Beach and none have compared to this location's customer service and skill level. I was fortunate enough to have Ky do a fill and gel polish on my acrylic nails and also do the same color gel polish on my toes to fix a terrible paint job I had had done previously. He took his time to make sure it was perfect and listened to all my concerns about the shape, length, and thickness of my set. Excellent nail technician -- I have had my nails done countless times in Colorado, California, Texas, and Virginia and he is the best technician I've every had. So how crazy is this? Came for a pedicure and turns out Ki(?) was my man for the pedi and he said"don't I know you?" Turns out I met him over 12 years ago at another random nail salon I went with my friend. Then I met him when I moved to Chesapeake and he was at the local nail salon there. Fast forward and I moved back to VB and he is here at Icon as it is a family business! 3 random places in 15 years. He said I needed to buy a lottery ticket!
