As an 18 year old living away from home for the first time, my mom and I thought this place would be great. My mom mostly chose ICON because of the safety guaranteed. Honestly, this place is no safer than any other place in IV. I hated it for numerous reasons. First off, the apartment is small and cramped. All my roommates would joke around saying we lived in a doll house. I was living in a triple and sleeping on the bottom bunk, which was too low to even sit up on. I couldn't do my homework from my bedroom. The place is too small to even have a table in the kitchen, so we all had to hold our bowls on our knees and eat on the couch. Second, we had mold growing on the window sill, which my roommate had her bed against. No matter how many times my roommates tried calling or emailing, no one ever did anything about it until my mom called the owner of ICON. Third, the optional parking garage really isn't worth the extra $125 a month because it's unreliable since it's like an elevator for cars, not to mention small. My car was almost too wide for the limited space there is to pull into. Fourth, the gym was advertised as a "state of the art" gym. In reality, it was only 2 ellipticals and 2 stationary bikes until about March. Then they upgraded to 3 treadmills, 3 ellipticals, 2 bikes, and some weights. Fifth, the layout of the apartments are clear that they were just in a rush to finish. One of our cupboard doors only opened about a quarter of the way because the light hanging from the ceiling was placed in the way. Sixth, my apartment was one of the model apartments towards the end of the school year & they definitely tried to play it up so much more than it was. We bought a baker's rack when we moved in because there was no storage area for food. When we signed up to be the model apartment, they put blue shelves that matched our furniture on the baker's rack to make it look like the rack was supplied by ICON. Seventh, the thing that angered me the most about living at ICON were the disrespectful workers. They would park in the way, blocking the parking spaces and it would be a hassle trying to find them to ask them to move. I was 30 minutes late to work one day because of this. The workers were extremely rude and weren't shy about giving you some major attitude. To be completely honest, this place is a HUGE waste of money. Don't live here. You can find cheaper places that have better qualities. I guarantee you'll be so much happier living somewhere else. read more
