I went to Icon dental looking for a regular cleaning (covered by insurance) and ended up being at my appointment for 1.5 hours with no cleaning, just exams performed. The dentist and hygienist informed me that I had early stages perioral gum disease (with a few sites being 4mm which is how they stage gum disease). They also told me they would not do a standard cleaning that day and I would have to come back for a deep cleaning... which would cost $450. I was skeptical and asked many questions, they stated it would be insurance fraud if they charged my insurance for a standard cleaning and later needed a deep cleaning. Well I called my insurance and that's not how it works! I got a second opinion and was informed that all my gums were less than 2 mm and not near stages of perioral gum disease. OG dental also tried to have me do a sleep study (more money) and recommended 4 fillings. Needless to say, I was recommended an up charge for almost everything, that was deemed not necessary but a second dentist (and cheaper to get fillings done too!) That was a long review but I was very frustrated with my care here and would not recommend to anyone. Only positive was a cute front office set up. read more

This place is a combination of nice people at the surface with super deceptive sales practices that make you feel absolutely dirty for having stepped in there. Comparable if not worse than an experience with a used car salesman. Before your appointment: from the minute you call them you're locked into an incessant loop of calls and reminders via text. It's ridiculous. On insurance: They will tell you one thing before you come in but then come out on the other end telling you something else once your appointment is over. Before coming in, I had to deal with multiple people blowing up my phone just to make sure my insurance was good to go. AFTER I was told it was good to go, I came in and the employee at the front desk told me they wouldn't see me unless I provided my social security. She was rude. Anyone who knows anything about healthcare laws knows that you absolutely do not (and should not) have to provide your social security. I told her I was not going to provide that information especially after the insurance person told me the insurance was good to go. I was ready to head out and then she said it was okay. During the appointment: The upsell during your actual care procedure is insane. Every single person you encounter will try to sell you something. From laser to mouth wash to other products, I was being sold everything under the sun while just trying to through the appointment. While some recommendations are certainly useful, the upsell is beyond what would be considered standard. Also you have no choice but to have the xray done to you every time you step in there no matter how often you come in. Pretty sure there has been no radical structural change with my teeth within a year. Finally the dentist sees you for like five mins. While I don't mind it just doesn't feel like you're getting the care you deserve for your money. But that's just how it is in this country I suppose. On the way out: I was intrigued by one of their products and wanted to learn more. When I walked it the person in charge of billing started talking about putting me on some kind of treatment. Told her straight away I just need information on the product. She then gave me a paper with a quote on it and wanted me to sign it "to make sure she went over it with me". This is a 7K product and they want you to sign to acknowledge they went over it with you. How insane is that? First the language in the paper was extremely concerning. Second no one in their right minds would put their signature on anything simply because they were being provided information. It was totally absurd. Then at the end, after I was told my insurance covered everything, I still had to pay out of pocket. Then AFTER I paid out of pocket she had the nerves to tell me that if I don't provide my social security, there is a chance I would have to pay the full fee out of pocket. Like what?? Their insurance dpt confirmed I was good to go. If there was an even a remote possibility I had to provide my social just to insure my insurance was covered I would have gone somewhere else because again, no one is compelled to and should absolutely not provide their social for medical care. Anyways I have their voicemails and made sure to get a receipt in case things go south which is a probability. The healthcare system is completely broken and most of these doctors have the wrong incentives. While I'm sure many people in this office are nice, they work in a toxic, sales pressured environment that is conducive to terrible treatment of patients. Again very nice at the surface but for the careful observer, one can see the toxic environment based on dirty sales practices. It's sad because the interests of the patient should always be first but they focus on maximizing profit. One can tell some of the employees are uncomfortable with the sales tactics they are forced to implement. I've been a patient at Icon Dental for several years but it's time to move on. When I went to the dentist I didn't realize it turned into a used car dealership where they would try to upsell me on everything. I was told that I should get a deep cleaning and I said that I'll think about it but book my next 6 month appointment for a standard cleaning. When I came in they said they had me scheduled for a deep cleaning and I told them no I'm just here for a standard cleaning. While I understand your recommendation is for a deep cleaning I said I did not want it at this time and wanted to get my teeth cleaned. They hygienist refused to clean my teeth and said she would only do a deep cleaning. So let me get this straight you are refusing to clean my teeth? I got my stuff and walked out. I will no longer be paying up for their $40 overpriced mouth wash they upsell you on every time, in fact I will no longer be coming back here. I got a second opinion and was told I did not in fact need a deep cleaning. I think people get so nervous to go to a dentist because you really don't know what your being told is the truth. When you're in pain you will agree to almost anything. I don't know what the truth is around this situation, but I feel this story need to be shared. In March one of my fillings fell out. Being new to the area I used Yelp to find a new dentist. I found Icon and was thrilled in reading such great reviews. I excitedly made my appointment right away. I was brought in the next day to see Dr Nazeli Trajan. I came in and met with her. They took X-rays and set an appointment for the next day for me to come in and get the tooth fixed. I also explained to her my intense fear around dental procedures. She assured me everything would be great. The next day I come in. Very nervous. I got sat in the back and the numbing process started. A new doctor comes in and I'm a little taken aback. It wasn't the same doctor I had met the day before. I was told it was her sister. That made me more nervous since i had started a relationship with the original dentist. To be honest, she was rushed and abrasive. They gave me the first shot to numb my mouth. It hurt but i knew that should be the most painful part. She gave me a few minutes and came back into the room. She tapped on the tooth and to my dismay i felt it! She proceeded to give me about 10-12 (I don't know the exact number) but a ton more shots. She would wait like 5-10 minutes between each shot. She started drilling and i still felt it. Finally visibly annoyed she jammed the needle in my jaw muscle and then once into the center of my tooth! It was literally torture, but what could I do? Was this somehow my fault that my tooth wouldn't get numb? In looking back l, I feel if she had just stopped rushing me and gave my mouth a little more time to process the Novocain, it wouldn't have been so torturous. Finally we got through procedure. She told me the cavity was deep but she was feeling positive it would calm down and next I would have to come in for a crown, or if it didn't I would have to have a root canal. We should know in a few weeks. This procedure was $548. They booked me another for a few weeks out to put on crown. $1373 Go forward two weeks later. I got a call due to COVID that my appointment had been canceled. I was ok because i didn't feel any pain at that time. Go forward a few more weeks, I'm eating and all of a sudden sharp pain. Over the next few days gets worse and worse. I call Icon and explain I'm in intense pain. I go in that day, they tell me that i need a root canal, they schedule it for the next day. $1600. Now fortunately I have amazing friends in my life, one who saw I had posted about my tooth pain. She reached out and told me about another dentist that she had amazing results at in Lakewood. I immediately called, they were able to get me right in for a second opinion. I went the next day and this is where things started getting strange. This new dentist took an X-ray of the bad tooth $49 (which I posted) this showed that Icon left cavity in my tooth. That is the dark gray shadow I circled in red. She told me that this could be what was causing all my pain and had never seen a dentist leave cavity in a patients tooth, and I did need a root canal $900. I called Dr. Trajan and told her what was said. She told me that it was intentionally left there and that they "were not done with the tooth". This really confused me. Why would I pay $548 for a incomplete job. When I told my new dentist at Simple Smiles Dental, she said "Are they going to reimburse you though? If they did partial procedure. I feel like they should. But I'm glad we can take care of you." Honestly as a business owner I feel they should as well. I feel it was dishonest to do a partial job but charge me for a full procedure. Also they never communicated it was not completed. I don't know I'm not a dentist, but it felt wrong. Upon visiting Icon dental for the first time I was told I needed 2-3 crowns despite having no pain in my mouth. I had my doubts but I agreed to have the work done because I trusted the dentist. After 2 sessions of dental work I received a letter from my dental insurer saying that the crowns I received were deemed unnecessary by my insurer and therefore they are refusing to cover it. I am attempting to appeal the insurance company's decision (insurance company informed me they had sent this letter directly to the dentist's office as well - so they are aware) and in the midst of this, Icon dental charged my card $1,000 for an outstanding balance. I'm surprised that icon would charge my card so much money while it is actively being disputed whether or not the work I received was even necessary. Difficult to know whether I am being scammed by the dentist or by my insurance, but I have a horrible taste in my mouth from this experience and I'm scared to return. read more

This practice will rob you and lie to you about how much you need to pay and not be honest with you upfront before you schedule a procedure. I made it clear I needed to know the exact cost for a filling procedure and they gave me the estimate so I scheduled the procedure. They gave me NO indication that price would change nor did they tell me that I should check with my insurance first as they told me they had already contacted my insurance for the estimate. After the procedure I received a bill that was 600 dollars higher than I was told I would be paying. Icon Dental is a crooked establishment. I went in for a cleaning after being unable to see the dentist as I've transitioned into adulthood out of college. I knew going in that I might have some cavities, but Icon Dental preyed on my nervousness and lack of previous care. They told me I had more than TWENTY (20) cavities and that it would be more than $2,000 to fill them all. I sought out a second opinion, and that new dentist diagnosed me with THREE ($180 to fill). I know that cavity diagnosis and treatment is subjective but after a long discussion with my new dentist at Paloma Dental (highly recommend!), it became very clear that almost none of those cavities existed or needed to be filled. Icon Dental preyed on me as a young adult and as someone who has experienced dentist anxiety in the past. They assumed I wouldn't get a second opinion...god am I glad I did. They claim they have been going at it back and forth with an insurance I've no longer had since the end of 2020. They claim that they've sent statements in the mail, bull...t!! I haven't received a single statement in the mail or anywhere for that matter. They have my email, phone number, and address on record, they could've contacted me about it as soon as this became an issue and I would've tried to sort things out back then, not 4 years down the road I receive a statement for a large sum of money at a moment where I'm going through difficult financial times. I get incredibly apprehensive visiting the dentist. Normally a trip to the dentist is not fun, expensive and overall dreadful. My experience here for my first two visits was very good. Staff was professional, efficient and had great conversations to put me at ease. They have a beautiful office, some very high tech machinery and even built a virtual and physical 3d model of my teeth. I had been looking for a dentist in Denver for a few months before Icon Dental was recommended to me by a colleague. I was immediately greeted by the receptionist who was so sweet and helpful with my paperwork, which took less than 10 minutes to fill out. She and I chatted before the dental hygienist came out within a minute or two of me completing my paperwork. She treated me like an old friend even though this was the first time we met. I was treated with total respect and given honest answers in the comfort of a super modern dental office. There are televisions available for you to watch and they made sure that I was informed the entire time I was there! I was seen that particular day by Neda Tarjan instead of Nazeli Tarjan, whom at the time apparently was out of network. As a patient and consumer, how would I know that one of the providers doesn't take my insurance, or that I would be seen by a provider that was different from the usual? Now I no longer have the plan, nor the extra funds to pay for services rendered that should've been covered in the first place. I'm thoroughly disappointed in this practice's insurance billing practices, and their unwillingness to remedy this situation to keep a client. From answering all my questions and making sure I felt comfortable to the high-end technology used -- the whole process was a breeze and I'm so happy with the outcome. I went to Icon Dental regularly during 2018 and 2019 for Invisalign, whitening, a crown and veneer to the tune of a few thousand dollars. My visits to the office were always pleasant. However, Icon has cost me hundreds of additional dollars due to their mishandling of insurance claims. In May, 2019 (the original service date was 4/30/19) Icon had me contact Delta after the claim was initially rejected: I talked to Delta immediately and then called Icon back right away confirming that Icon needed to provide more detail to get the claim approved; Icon said they would take care of it. Everything seemed fine. Fast forward to October, 2021, Icon starts sending me notifications of an unpaid balance. Over the next 6 months, I spent hours on the phone with Icon and Delta Dental so I could discover what happened: Icon provided the additional information in March of 2020. At that time Delta informed Icon the claim period was closed in late Oct., 2019 per their standard claims policy. Once I had all the information, I asked Icon 1) why was I was doing all this research for information they already had? and 2) why they were charging me when the outstanding fee stemmed from Icon not submitting the information when I first notified them. Icon's excuses included: the pandemic, it's not their job to make sure the insurance company pays the claim and that Delta makes the claims process timing too difficult to find in their materials. Today I paid the claim so I don't risk going to collections. But after all I went though, I am very disappointed with Icon Dental's practices and am truly regretful that I used their services. read more

Since 1 was deep she wanted to put a crown on to ensure no breakage. Well, the crown was done HORRIBLY. SHe didn't even do it OR CHECK IN MY MOUTH WHEN IT WAS DONE!!!! It was way too big and affected my bite. I had SO much pain- plus I have awful insurance and they knew how worried I was about all of the costs. I went back again. She filed it down.. TOO MUCH. I had pain for weeks. I barely have a tooth there anymore. I went back for a second opinion (from another dentist there) and was told I need a root canal in that tooth... why the hell would she fill my cavity and put on a crown if it all has to be ruined now to complete a root canal that somehow wasnt needed before? I felt like my experience was very similar to Mark H's and Tiffany L's. I have gone to 2 other dentists in the area to do my due diligence. I have never been told that I have 9 cavities that need work "immediately". I felt that they had good customer service and I enjoyed the teeth cleaning, but I can't get over the fact that the dentist's strong recommendations were extreme compared to the other dentists' I've visited. I lost part of a filling on my molar which didn't cause any pain or exposed any nerve or tissue. When I went to see Dr Neda she was insistent that I needed to put a crown on my tooth; a tooth that was largely intact and experiencing no pain. I agree with all the 1 star reviews! I had the worst experience of my life at this place. Very much upsold me on a crown I did not need for a filled that had a "lip" and "could cause a problem in the future". Stupidly I agreed because I wanted to start Invisalign soon and she said I'd need to do that first. Instead of just taking the Invisalign money they wanted to do the crown too. The dentist was only in the room for 5 mins to drill down my tooth, a perfectly healthy tooth to a very small nub. Her assistant was the worst I've ever had. He kept making "small adjustments" the a crown that clearly was not right. I shit you not he must have put it on and off at least ten times. It felt huge and sat on my tongue. I told him it didn't feel right and he told me to "try it out for a few days and come back if it needs to be filed". He then bonded it to my tooth and took an X-ray to have her review. She came in and said "is it supposed to look like this?" It was all crooked on the X-ray. She then said it'll need to be redone. Once she left he said "glad you didn't have to go home with that and we can redo it". But sir, you were just tried to send me home with that and bonded that shit job to my tooth! When she came back I said I was not numb enough, she gave me a shot and waited only a minute and started drilling, clearly upset to have to redo it and not wanting to wait. I had to stop her and ask to wait! Then once started she was having trouble getting off and can only assume cracked or further sawed away my once okay tooth! The assistant once again took over after drilling and I complained about not even really needing a crown before. His response was "glad I'm not the one that talked you into it so it's not on my conscious" as I cried in the chair being there for over 5 hrs. When placing the second crown he said "let's remove some of this gum to help it fit right"! Once deemed "okay" by the dentist, I left glad to be away from the torture! Now almost a week after, the crown is crooked to the inside touching my tongue, lumps from cement and a huge chunk of my gum cut off! This tooth is in pain constantly and now trying to find a new dentist to help me! I do not trust this crew to help me as they butchered my mouth. Love this office! Doctor N has been so helpful, accommodating and knowledgeable during my visits. I initially went here for an emergency visit when I chipped my front teeth. Since then, I went back for an exam and cleaning where they were very thorough and offered better daily habits to prevent more wear and tear on my teeth. I am also running out of dental insurance in FIVE DAYS and he's managed to get me in two different times before then to help me get the things done that I need done. Amazing experience. I landed in Denver at 8 am for vacation, and by 9:30, I had a broken tooth. I have been very happy with Icon Dentals Service but after being a patient at this practice for several years Icon for some reason stopped having any form of dedicated parking for their patients. The only solution they offer is a coupon for an hour of parking in a nearby garage. The problem is simple with this however, the garage is full by 10am most days and IF you get a spot good luck having a dentist appointment last less than an hour. So you'll pay for parking if you can get it. Worst is they seem to not care at all how difficult it is. So as good as the service inside is, the lack of parking ruins the entire experience. I would ask if it's been resolved BEFORE you make an appointment and go elsewhere if not. Plenty of other great dental offices who have a place to park. read more

Strongly do NOT recommend as they did a very poor job on my teeth in what should have been a simple procedure. So disappointed in this dentistry for several reasons: 1) Post-procedure lingering pain. I had two cavities filled exactly two weeks ago. Soon after my visit, whenever I ate or drank, I began feeling pain in the area where the cavities were. I decided to give it some time, and now two weeks after the operation, the pain is still there and if anything, has gotten worse. They did NOT advise me that this would happen and just sent me off on my way. 2) Operation was NOT cheap, and Icon strongly suggested me to do it to mitigate future issues with the cavities. I trusted them, and now I have come out it worse for wear. And on top of that, had to pay them a good deal for a poor job. 3) In my initial visits at Icon, I met with Dr. Tarjan and was impressed with her expertise and calming demeanor, and was told she would be handling the operation. Instead, on the day of, they had someone else do the operation - Dr. Tarjan only popped in for 30 seconds to say hello. This person clearly had less experience, but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. Now two weeks later, my teeth/mouth are in pain. I feel like they pulled a fast one on me by assigning a less experienced person to play around with my teeth after initially making me feel at ease with Dr. Tarjan. After having a horrible experience at my previous dentist, I learned about Icon from an existing patient. All I can say is wow! This actually made me enjoy the dentist. They do 100% of the new patient paperwork online before your first appointment so that you don't have to sit in the office filling out forms for 20 minutes. I checked in with the front desk and sat down in the lobby. Less than 30 seconds later, a dental hygienist named Gene walked into the lobby and walked me back. Gene took x-rays and pictures and cleaned my teeth. The technology they used is much better than any office I've been in. It was so awesome to see the pictures and x-rays. I felt like I was getting a better understanding of my teeth! Dr. Cecile read my results to me, was super friendly and offered options for me. She helped me get to the "root" of my toothache problems that were worsened by my previous dentist. Gene was also extremely friendly and knowledgeable, walking me through my post-appointment care regimen. They were very transparent with me about cost, walking me through the pricing every step of the way. With every recommendation they had for me, Gene was checking my insurance throughout the exam so I wouldn't be thrown off my cost. I left knowing that I need a crown and was interested in invisalign. I know exactly how much I owe and what to expect re: time, recovery, costs, etc. at my next appointment. I cannot reccomend this dental office enough! read more

Terrible customer service. Their employees are super rude. My wife had a root canal done with Dr. Minavi who also operates out of their office. Even though we are in-network, they not only charged us out of network rate, they charged us twice (Both Dr. Tarjan and Dr. Minavi) and their rude accountant was not even willing to admit that they are either billed us inaccurately or ripping us and she was not willing to do anything or offer any help to look into it. We had to go through the pain of filing a grievance through our insurance. read more

They're tech friendly, appreciate the email and text message reminders and that I could fill out the paperwork electronically ahead of my appointment. Entire staff is kind and chatty. The decor is great - very modern, chic. Does not feel like a stuffy, scary dentist at all. They have a referral program - get $25 visa gift card for every referral. When you leave they give you the typical free travel-sized toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss kit in a cute gift bag with tissue paper. Great way to upgrade the presentation. read more

I can't recommend this place enough! The staff and doctors are so kind and professional. They are quick to respond to emails/calls, and are so great about being upfront and knowledgeable about costs, insurance coverage, etc. Their front desk receptionist (Madison, I believe) is so sweet and welcoming every time I talk to her. I've only worked with Dr. Cecile, and have been so happy every time. She even gave me a compress for my head when I had a headache during a procedure. She is so sweet, very knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. read more
