Loud, active, great music and great acts. This is a place you will miss if you are walking by too fast in the area. The one thing that you will notice is the sign from the outside and an occasional group of people outside. The service is good and the drinks are well made. Deff come here if you want to enjoy loud music and just get a pump for the night. read more

I came and excited to have a really nice experience. As someone who's queer myself I was really excited to finally check out this bar. I go in and the bar is packed, which is a great sign. However, ordering a drink, of course in a packed bar is really hard. I had my jacket over a chair and someone was sitting on it and I didn't make a big deal out of it. So I sat on the chair next to mine. Again, just trying to order a drink. The person who had their stuff on the chair comes back and instead of it being between me and this person it turns into two more people jumping in on me upset that I'm sitting on someone else's chair. The bartender then gets in on it, and he starts being rude and yelling at everybody, but more so me because he was friends with the other people. Then me and the guy are laughing and making up and talking. And he comes back and yells at us again. This time for no reason. Screaming out of the top of his lungs. Needless to say I never got to replace my drinks. And I never got to see if it was a good bar because I was being yelled at by the bartender and other people. Was in there for maybe 15-20 mins. Really awful experience and it was the bartender with short black hair. Hopefully he learns to actually be kinder. Definitely didn't feel like a safe space read more

The best place to watch NYC's top drag performers in the entire city. I saw Jax there on her last night before she moved away to Los Angeles, and I am a regular at the Friday night show with Freeda Kulo. The bartenders are super friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the crowd is lively and fun. For an "iconic" night out in Astoria, head to Icon. read more

Best bar in Astoria, by far. Great drag shows, excellent bartenders, and immaculate vibes. read more

Icon Bar - a bartender mixing a drink at a bar - Gay Bars Near Me - Astoria, New York

Both Yelp and Icon Bar's website state that they are open until 4am everyday. Recently a bartender told me that they were open until 2am that night. I pointed out the difference between what he said and what I had read online. His snarky response was that 2am had been closing time on that particular weeknight for over a year. He made no move to look at the discrepancy or make any note to pass on to management. So unless the bartender is a liar, the 2am closing time has existed for over a year and they don't bother to change their hours listed on their website. Created quite a few disgruntled customers that night. They clearly to revamp their communication and customer service. read more

Thursday night karaoke is lit. Lots of talent and energy here. Excellent host and bar staff who will make sure you will have a great time. Nicole Anadyme + Karaoke = Lots of Fun. read more

I've come to ICON a few times before but last night was the first time I was able to interact with the bartender. Filup was welcoming and engaging and made us laugh while watching Will & Grace. Filup, if you see this I want to thank you for showing us a great time. We got to see Freeda Kulo's last performance at ICON and she did not disappoint. Overall a safe space to enjoy a night. read more

Icon Bar - Logo and bar - Gay Bars Near Me - Astoria, New York

My favorite spot in the neighborhood, if you're out of town or not from the neighborhood and wanna explore a nice gay bar, icons the place to be at. The bartenders are always wonderful, the shows are great. This place is how I found out about Sherry Poppins and Audrey Phoenix (she's missed) always drag my friends to this place whenever they come to visit. It would be *chefs kiss* if they sold frozen margaritas, but none the less. You'll have a wonderful night here. read more

The best little queer bar in Queens. Mixed crowd but mostly gay men and often hosting a drag performer. It's not cash only but do expect an up charge if you pay by card. It is requiring you show proof of vaccination so make sure you bring that. read more

What a gem of a bar in Astoria. Fantastic staff, super friendly, and extremely welcoming.

While my crazy clubbing days are long gone (Oh, how I miss you Tunnel, Limelight, Sugar Reef!) this old bear and his better half still like to enjoy a night out and enjoy a spot where we can boogie down, let loose and get our drink on. Its nice not to have to take an Uber into Brooklyn or Manhattan either. Lets get one thing straight (or not LOL), ICON is a bar. If you want the full club experience, move along. Drinks are a bit over priced but are strong, and the fellow revelers are all cool and the bar tenders....hubba hubba! This all makes for a fun experience. I recommend ICON highly, along with Albatross, Madame Marie's and Diamond Dogs, ICON is my favorite haunt. Be yourself at ICON and be proud! Catch a rainbow on fire baby! read more

My favorite neighborhood bar ICON in Astoria is back, and not a moment too soon!!! LGBTQ nightlife is a pastime I dearly missed during this pandemic, so it's really nice that it is making its comeback. ICON has gracefully re-opened its doors with a strong focus on COVID safety and comfort, yet fully retaining its super fun and flirty atmosphere it's known for, with great music and an A team of charming bar staff. Safety measured have been nicely integrated into the indoor setup -- temperature checks, clearly defined social distancing with stanchions, and mask wearing policies when outside our social bubble -- I definitely felt safe when I came. Must namedrop bartender Danny-- he's sweet, kind, and I love that he is a very talented filmmaker to boot! The Lady Gaga cocktail he made me tonight is my new favorite. read more

Icon is one of my favorite places. Great bartenders, great energy, and a fun crowd. However on my birthday weekend the dj missed the mark. I love a good 70s night, but not one song I could relate to or was familiar with. Owners, if you get a chance, please listen to him dj sometime. read more

This review is for Alex and Skip's Ladies and Gentlethemmes event held on Sunday 5/15/22 from 2-6 PM. These two are event planning professionals and pioneers, who are carving a space for folks that is much desired, much loved, and much needed. They successfully created a fun loving, safe, warm, mindful and inclusive space for queer women and non-binary folks to have some fun and connect with each other! Although the event took place at Icon, a lovely bar, Alex and Skip took care in catering to folks who don't drink alcohol as well, with their list of carefully curated mocktails and games that provided engaging activities beyond consuming alcohol. Furthermore, the timing of the event was excellent, taking advantage of usually quieter hours at a bar, Sunday at 2 PM and ending early, around 6 PM which is great for the working professional or student. I would love to attend more events hosted by Alex and Skip. They know how to cater to the lgbtq+ community really, really well! read more

I love Icon when I come to Astoria. Marcelo is slaying behind the bar and Avant Garbage is killing it! Stephen is always a favorite!

Excellent Brazilian food and very nice staff food was really good and nice live traditional music.

Awesome and fun bar with great drinks and crowd. Not so much when it comes to entertainment. I seen two drag shows on separate nights. One drag queen was really talented, she even did flips. The last one on Sunday only run up and down The aisle, not sure how she got booked lol. Like I said this bar is awesome, the staff is friendly. I'm just wondering if we really need another drag show, at least let them be talented and not running up and down the aisle with a lame act and expecting to get tips, lmfao. I'd rather Watch hamsters on a wheel then see some of these lame drag performances. Other than that this bar Rocks read more

The space is the way it always has been, but the bartender claimed not to know how to make even basic cocktails and filled wine & martini glasses to no more than one inch.
