Craving sushi. Came back here and wow! The crab salad was spot on. The fried dumplings were excellent and the sushi was one of the best I have had in Slidell. The best part was the price. read more

Ichiro Hibachi Express - I-10 Roll. Excellent choice - Japanese Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

The chicken and steak hibachi here is always spot-on! Both meats are cooked to perfection -- tender, flavorful, and just the right amount of sear. The fried rice is really good, and everything comes with their classic yum yum sauce and a simple iceberg salad that rounds out the meal nicely. You order at the counter, so it's fast and easy. The ambiance is decent -- nothing fancy, as it's located in an old Wendy's building -- but it's clean and casual. If you're looking for a quick, satisfying hibachi-style meal without the full tableside show, this is a great spot. Overall, the hibachi combo itself gets a solid 5/5 stars from me. Great flavor, great portions, and always consistent. We will try the sushi and leave a review next read more

The food was very bland and greasy. I ordered the imperial dinner and almost broke a tooth the chicken, steak and shrimp were so overcooked it was like bitting into a rubber ball. The vegetable tempura was ok just extremely bland. I will continue to drive pass this place and not spend another dime here. Beware read more

Their "fried rice" is LITERALLY JUST PLAIN RICE COOKED IN OIL.. Their "hibachi meal" is just baked chicken with premade teriyaki sauce put on top... this place is an absolute joke and a complete insult to the Asian cuisine.. read more

Ichiro Hibachi Express - Y2. Chicken Fried Rice - Japanese Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

Aka Sakura Express, this establishment is located next door to a Racetrack and across from Golden Dragon buffet. Building looks like it use to be a Wendy's. When you walk in head straight and to the right to get to the ordering counter and beverage case. They have a menu behind the cashier on the wall and a menu on the counter. There's an extensive variety of bottled beverages as well as a fountain soda dispenser. They have these unique Japanese drinks which you remove a plastic top and use it to push a glass marble from the opening into the glass bottle. It's uniquely designed to keep the marble in a small space between the opening of the bottle and the lower portion with the beverage. The also has an extensive variety of items. Appetizers, hibachi dishes, sushi and bento boxes. Tonight I chose the Salmon Bento box which include the main protein (salmon) hibachi rice and vegetables, 1 spring roll, 4 pieces of California Roll sushi and 3 pieces of fried Gyoza. For $15 it's filling and delicious. The Salmon portion is thin but it's comparable to the price you pay, IMO. There wasn't any intense flavors in the rice nor the Salmon as with some of the other hibachi places but it was still delicious and not as salty. I prefer a stronger garlic umami flavor. I also order the cheese wonton appetizer and Shrimp Fried rice for my daughter. The cheese wontons were delicious perfectly fried and the cheese filling wasn't as sweet as some other versions which I do prefer a less sweeter taste. The Shrimp Fried rice was a good portion of rice and a good amount of sautéed Shrimp. The shrimp was very flavorful, a tad bit overcooked creating a tougher texture, nothing crazy I'm just very particular with Shrimp and Scallops. The dining area is well kept, clean and open. The decor is great with the right amount of lighting for a casual night. I enjoyed the seating by the window to watch the traffic on Gause. The restroom was clean, the soap seemed like they watered it down, still did the job in cleaning my hands. I enjoyed my dinner at the establishment and would come again to try out their Sushi menu and some other items. read more

Great bento boxes. I love having a quick option for good sushi and hibachi! I've never dined in but it's great for DoorDash or someone going to drive thru! read more

Could have been much better. Sakura Express must mean that quality is going down quickly. Just tried this place yesterday with my wife and some of her friends. Ordered the steak hibachi. It wasn't quite horrible but it also wasn't very good. It took forever (over 15 minutes) to get two iced teas. My wife's and my dish were prepared for well over 15 minutes and sat on the table behind the cashier's station. The cashier never called to tell us the meal (such as it was) was ready. She sat here and messed with her phone. Needless to say, they weren't very warm when they were finally brought to the table. My wife said her's was OK. She's much easier going than me. Mine??? Well??? The steak pieces were pretty tough (my dogs were happy today). It was supposed to be a strip steak (more like one half of a 1/2" thick strip steak) cut into hibachi sized pieces. The vegetables included under the steak were a mishmash of zucchini, cabbage, onions and carrots. The zucchini was mushy, the cabbage and carrots basically raw. The fried rice was cold and flavorless with NO vegetables or scrambled eggs. All it was was bland rice tossed with some soy sauce. Perhaps someone should inform these Asian fellows what fried rice is??? For $14.95 for hers and $16.75 for mine, it was somewhat of a waste of money and significantly way over-priced. ANY other hibachi place in Slidell is much better at the same or lower price point. I actually enjoy Sogo. When placing the order the cashier, a young girl stated that she didn't know much about the menu when I asked a couple of questions. A young Asian lady/girl would have been much better versed in the menu. She was pretty much clueless in Slidell. This chic had absolutely no interest in learning the menu to help a customer make an informed decision. I wish that I had taken some pics to display the quality and presentation of this 'meal'. It was like opening a can of Cambell's chicken noodle soup and eating it cold out of the can. Freezer section steak and rice bowls would have been better. NEVER AGAIN! These other s that give this place 4 or 5 stars??? I can't fathom what they ate. read more

Miso soup & edamame good. Avocado roll small but taste very good. white rice was gummy & over cooked. A quick affordable option to grab instead of sitting down in a larger restaurant read more

Whoa, bring your appetite! A ton of food that is fast, fresh and hot. I had the shrimp and noodles (sorry, can't remember the name) and couldn't finish the whole thing. I think it's in an old Wendy's building, but that's ok. Nice guys running the place. read more

Food is good at a good price. We go there occasionally when we want something different and inexpensive.

as ok. I got two specialty sushi rolls and I felt I had had better. The hot dishes looked better and likely were better. Their eel sauce is how I like it. A mix of teriyaki and slightly sweet Spicy mayo is spicier than usually get They have a hibachi/ teppanyaki side Nice ppl up front. Worth a try but it's not high end for sure. read more

The food is always good when I order from here! I love their big portions and the young lady at the drive thru is very patient and nice.

I AM completely in love with all their vegetable roll options!!! AAC, Oshinko, Avocado, Cucumber. They will guarantee to hit the spot! Add the brown ginger sauce for an added flavor boost. read more

Woww first time here and I was really impressed! Fresh and fast, well made food! The quality of the sushi rolls were REALLY good considering it to be an express place. Best part about it is that it's affordable! I'll be coming here more often with friends instead of the bigger sushi restaurants because Sakura Express is much more affordable and just as good. Our food came out within 10 min. The place is clean too. Really nice staff! Yeah there's no table service but that's why it's an express place haha! And I'm used to that at OEC where my friends and I would always visit back in Hattiesburg. Just order your food at the front and choose to sit in or take it to go or pick up phone orders from the drive thru window! (Also they give cups of pink sauce with your order ) read more

Great sushi!! Highly recommend!! Can't go wrong!! It's a bit expensive, but what sushi isn't!!

Inspect the food you order here. My wife found what appeared to be a metal staple embedded within the shrimp. Ingesting or chewing on a staple can cause devastating injuries. read more

I've had this place a decent amount. My son loves the bento boxes, but about every 3 out of four times I get sushi I end up getting sick and not feeling well. I really do love their hot girl roll. It's really affordable and they are super friendly. The wait time typically isn't long. read more

I've eaten here a bunch of times. It's been a while pandemic and all. Went and got dinner there today, it's not cheap. $40 for 3 chicken hibachi meals. And it was the worse it's ever been. The hibachi rice wasn't hibachi. It was somewhat fried rice with egg. Very plain nothing else in it (peas? carrots?) The chicken had a weird taste to it and was very dry. Even the clear soup didn't taste right and was missing flavor. I don't know what's happened but I'll never be back. read more

An express sushi place with high quality sushi and apps!! I thought it was over priced until I saw how big the portions are. It's the dive bar of sushi joints! Really a hidden gem! Impressive on the inside...needs work on the outside. But good for them! They're concentrating on high quality food and service! read more

Food was awful, no flavor, no seasoning, chicken was mushy, my entire family threw it away and settled for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Not sure if they're new owners or what but used to be our to go place but after our last meal won't be back anytime soon read more

We ordered dinner and had it delivered with Waitr. I ordered the LSU Roll and it had so much flavor. We ordered the Japanese Egg Rolls for an app and they were still hot and fresh. We used Waitr code LOCAL5 and saved money on having it delivered. read more

This place is a hidden Gem! We drove in from Orlando and found this place near our hotel, the place looks a little weird from outside but don't let that stop you from coming in. The ambiance is great, love the decor and the sushi is made by a true master. The menu is big, however, anything you get is going to be super tasty. The employees are really helpful and nice as well. I wish I had this place in my neighborhood back home, I would be a regular there for sure. read more

This place is very nice inside and clean. You can tell they hooked this place up from what the outside look. The food is on a scale between good and great for the price. The rolls that I got here was cheaper than my favorite place and it almost taste about the same so that was 1 point. The service is great and staff is friendly. It's a drive through also and its quick. Overall it's a fast food sushi/hibachi and you pay for what you get. I would go back! read more

Average. It has a drive thru, which is cool. And the service was nice and fast. However, it was a bit pricey for fast food, especially for no table service. For an appetizer, three entrees, and two drinks it was 32 bucks, which is decent, but I don't think I'd come often simply because you can go to an actual restaurant and get service for approximately the same price. Overall, nice people, good food, fast service, but a bit pricey for fast food. read more

Excellent menu and selection. I tried the Steak and Scallop entree. It comes with fried rice, fried veggies and a salad or soup. It was very well presented and tasted just as good as it looked. It was very clean and fresh tasting. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity. The steak isn't choice sirloin, but it was tender enough and tasty! It was 12.99 for everything and could pretty much feed two. Glad i tried them out!! read more

I like coming here but I have gotten sick twice and my husband once with their raw sushi. (3 different occasions). Not fun. I like the bento boxes instead since nothing is raw. read more

So to have a sushi drive thru, way better than fast food and lots of options. Awesome place

Good portion! Some substitutions on the bento box! Decent for Lunch! Quick service via drive thru

I decided to try the Old Wendy's place and see what others were talking about since we all don't have the same tastes. I really enjoyed it, since then, my husband and I are frequent flyers. I enjoy the hibachi entrees, my husband likes the bento box and lo mein is excellent. Service is great, the staff very friendly, on several occasions the chef will come to our table and visit. read more

We ordered two different rolls with miso soups. Portions were great but everything was very bland. We won't be ordering from there again.

I've become a regular customer since they opened because the quality of the food is always delicious, a great value and they're doing things right here! The sushi has always been fresh, flavorful and prepared perfectly (nice portion of fish to rice, and the sushi rice is seasoned correctly and never overcooked and gummy). The hibachi items were quickly seared, tender and tasty. The staff and management are friendly and focused on customer service and satisfaction. And the place is always clean. read more

Met the in laws for lunch today @ Sakura Express. They had been before but today was our 1st time. I'll start by saying the lomein and LA roll I had was delicious. Portion size and presentation was on point. The interior atmosphere is inviting and festive and the staff was friendly. I do have to agree with some of the other reviews and say that for the price there should be table service. Condiments drink refills and to go boxes require you to leave your table. Being that this is an old Wendy's the exterior could use some TLC to attract more people. Overall I enjoyed the food taste and quality as it is a few steps above one of those chain express quick serve restaurants. However for a few dollars more Osaka or Fuji yama would be my sit down restaurant of choice. Would definitely recommend for take out. read more
