So I see everyone being extremely disappointed with their Japanese Cream Cheese Cake and I just want to say that it's TOTALLY true! Don't get the cheesecake it's totally expensive and underwhelming. So why am I giving this bakery a 4 stars? It's because they serve this AMAZING and very INNOVATIVE bubble tea cream puff thing. It's light and fluffy and sweet but not too sweet, with bubble fillings in it. I really liked this dessert and I would come back for it. read more

This location is so much more aesthetically pleasing than its other location further south on Bank St in the Blue Heron Mall! This location is a bright cute bakery with lots of seating. When I went in, there were 2 teenagers drinking lattes and eating pastries and they looked to me like they were on a date, how adorable! So yeah, it's that kind of place. The other location is more "industrial looking" with the pastries still on the pans on which they were baked, with thongs around for you to select your own purchases. Anyway, I was in the area and I heard about these cream cheese buns sold there which are allegedly heavenly. It was a Sunday afternoon and there were 3 pieces left on display. There were no prices on any of the baked goods, so I asked the lady how much the cream cheese bun was. She said $6.50, which I felt was a bit high because the bun (actually it's more like a quarter of a bun) was pretty small. Nonetheless, I was willing to pay that price for a slice of fluffy sweet heaven, lol. The lady then encouraged me to get a chocolate almond croissant as she said they were just fresh out of the oven, and they are very popular. They did look good, so I got one. It was a good business move on the lady's part because had I just gotten the cream cheese bun, the rating for this bakery would have been 2 stars, but the chocolate almond croissant saved it and bumps it up to 3 stars. The croissant ended up being $4.25, which I thought was also high, but seeing as how this place is in The Glebe I guess them's the breaks. As you can see from my photo, the cream cheese bun is pretty small, it's only marginally bigger than a quarter of an average-sized kaiser roll. I was so sad as I bit into it because the bun tasted stale to me. It tasted like a stale sweetened bun stuffed with fluffy sweetened cream cheese. I was so disappointed :( Luckily, the chocolate almond croissant was delicious. So rich and sweet and flaky. Although I have had similar for cheaper. The lady working there was super nice and the bakery is really cute. The cream cheese bun did not live up to my expectations, but the chocolate almond croissant was good, and I would give the other pastries a chance. Street parking only. read more

Very delicious bakery, though admittedly it's more Japanese inspired than authentic. The desserts are really decadent and delicious. The sweets are very rich and a small portion is really enough for one person. Super cute designs, I especially love the chocolate mousse shaped like a teddy bear. read more

5 stars for the almond croissant. I almost prefer it over the French one... But the cream cheese cake was too dense and feels like I'm actually eating a slab of cream cheese. I think they should make it fluffier (what I thought it would be like) and it would feel less like eating a block of cream cheese. Also, change the name to cheesecake cream, or something, because it quite literally is a cake of cream cheese. read more

I just moved into the Glebe and walked by this spot a few times and was drawn in by their baked goods on display in their window. (Alas, they are not for sale.) This spot is getting a 1 star because it's *ridiculously* overpriced and it's not even that tasty. I visited here two times and on each occasion, I was underwhelmed and kinda angry about how expensive it is. Their chocolate chip cookie recipe is far too heavy on the flour. Their famous Japanese Cream Cheese buns are underwhelming and $6.50 for a quarter of a bun. THEN their matcha-powder pastries (which, by the way, are a pretty standard pastry size) are a whopping $10. *Shudders* Even if the pasty was exceptional - which it wasn't - I could maybe justify the price. Maybe. Prices aren't posted either, so it's not like I could haven't known in advance I'm paying $16.50 for two sub-par pastries. I won't be back here and I would not recommend it. read more

Ummm... this is the best bakery in Ottawa, especially if you like sweets, and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. Their croissants are to die for and their tarts are amazing! A little pricey, but 110% worth it. Five stars! Not up for discussion! read more

Hey, I think people are expecting too much, and their own expectations are letting them down. They're very nice, and their bread (I got the wholegrain or multigrain loaf or whatever) is excellent! I will happily support local businesses even if I have to pay a little more sometimes, or if sometimes there's a miss mixed in with the hits. read more

I've been going to this bakery since I was a kid and it's amazing. The pastries are delicious and the almond square is one of the best things I've ever tasted. Everything is always suuuuuper fresh. The staff are always friendly and the establishment is cute and clean. I was honestly surprised to see some negative reviews here because of the prices seeing as this is a hard-working local business that has been providing amazing pastries to Ottawa for over a decade. The prices are far from expensive and very fair for a quality local business. In short, I highly recommend you check out this bakery, you won't regret it. Just make sure to bring cash or debit, as I've forgotten once or twice. read more

Exceptional quality pastries, perhaps the best in town. Especially the almond croissants and the French-style fruit- or custard tarts. The prices are high (and you have to ask), but I've never ended up with anything in the $10 range others describe. I usually walk away with 3 pastries below $15 including tax. Taking away one star since the prices are about 20% too high, even given the quality, and since they don't take credit cards. Owner/operator super friendly, and honest about what's just come out of the oven. read more
