Ichiba is a Japanese very big grocery store with a hot food counter serving everything from yakiniku, donburi, tofu and sushi to Shoyru ramen and takoyaki. I had Takoyaki, Edamame, Yakiniku mix which came with teriyaki chicken, beef tataki, pork, peppers and negima yakitori which was about £13 and tasted amazing. The yakoyaki and Hiyayakko tofu were also really good, the portions here are generous and prices are moderate. You get this little beeping device that beeps when your food is ready to collect, which is pretty cool. The supermarket is well stocked with tons of Japan imported groceries, sake, sweets, tea, miso, noodles, rice, beauty products, tableware, books, mochi, mochi icecream, wagashi and also all the popular sauces like Kewpie mayo, okonomiyaki sauce, dashi, a butcher etc. Literally everything you need to make authentic Japanese food. The downside is that although all the products are the exact same as what you get in Japan since they are directly imported, they are super expensive and the price is marked up by x3-4 times that of the same product in Japan. But if you're looking for real authentic groceries, then Ichiba is great.

Great hearty ramen. Everything is so tasty but I've made a huge mistake to order the spicy one…read morebecause it was unbearably spicy. We also tried the chicken broth one but it's definitely not as intense as the pork broth. If you don't have any dietary restrictions, highly recommend the pork soup. Chicken karage is very nice as well! We mixed the soy sauce and vinegar together for a dipping sauce and it cuts down the oiliness so it was perfect. Wait staff is nice and alway accommodating our request!

I had to wait a little to get in but it was still under like 15 mins. They seemed to be busy but…read moreits to be expected as they are only about a 10 seater restaurant inside with a few tables outdoors. The server was really nice and it looked like he was the only one working at the time so he was doing everything and trying his best to get me seated asap. Once I was seated, placing my order and getting my food was very quick. I ordered a lunch set and I got to say the soup base was kinda bland for a ramen which I feel like is pretty flavorful and the dumplings were just okay. The frozen ones I've had at home have more flavor...The chili oil definitely helped with the flavor though. This lunch set was a great deal though for all that and a cocktail I paid under 20 pounds. They have the "golden hour" advertising outside of the restaurant but people in the restaurant…read moredoesn't seem to know about it. Not only that they don't even have the golden hour menu and the server has to spell everything out for me, they did NOT offer wine on golden hour price when it clearly says it on the golden hour advertisement. And the worst part is, the regular price of these "discounted" items are pretty much £1-2 different than the golden hour price - what a scam. If you had to come here, try their fried chicken for £5 during golden hour and make sure they charge you the discounted price because after so much fuss that we make, they still managed to bill us regular price when we ask for the bill - lucky we check it. We went around 6 and there's literally one table occupied. Absolutely no ambiance and you feel like the server is constantly keeping their eyes on you.

During our stay, we never received water in our cups and every other table in proximity to us did. No waiter would come up to us and we tried to call a few over with a hand wave but they turned around and walked away. We didn't think we did anything to provoke them but who knows what warranted this behavior. Once we were handed the check, the waitress who was rude to us the whole time started cleaning the table while we were still sitting and drinking. Not sure what was going on but my experience was terrible.

First time there with my colleagues for a dinner ! The…read moreplace itself is really small and our group of 14 people had the place for ourselves ! Very comfy ! The place is owned by a Japanese family of six, all working together. This is place is not known for their sushi ( forget it, it's not the main food of Japanese food) but for their katsu ( fried food ) we ordered different dishes to share : edamame, kushikatsu, fried oysters, fishcake, pork, some greens... and of course sake ! Everything was very tasty, it reminded me Japan so much ! I totally recommend this place for enjoying nice and real Japanese food! Also it's not too pricy for London

This teeny tiny gem of a restaurant is absolutely fantastic. After stopping by in the afternoon,…read moreand finding they were only open in the evenings, say after 6pm, we called ahead to book a table for 2 at 7:00pm. It was a good thing we did, because the place filled up soon after we were seated. This please specializes in battered fried awesome on a stick. So do order some of these fun dishes. I also tried a bit of their sushi, and it was tasty and unfussy. But I think the highlight of the meal was trying new flavours, such as deep fried shrimp wrapped in perilla leaf. They also have a very nice sake and shochu selection. Try the red bean ice cream. Very subtle and a lovely texture with mashed beans included. Our hostess/waitress was a one woman wonder, and she made sure we loved everything. Don't be afriad to ask if you don't know what a sauce or side dish is. I learned I really like the yellow pickled radish called takuan that came with my partner's meal. and it made the hostess super happy too boot, as apparently, according to her, many younger Japanese don't like the flavour. Ah well, I know I did.
