We bought tickets in advance since we were visiting Monterey Bay. *It was cool They let us skate until our legs fell off, liked that most of the people didn't know how to skate, so we all formed a long line holding the rail *Nice employee's. The person in the rink was a pleasant funny guy checking make sure everyone was ok. *And No there is no refunds! How can a business survive in Cali refunding money, not possible. Plus the tickets were cheap and included skates. We had a great time kids didn't want to leave. It's in a perfect location, we headed to the wharf then luck and shopping after skating. They sell drinks and snacks where you check in. Will definitely buy tickets again and take pictures. read more

When we arrived, we were greeted by a crowd of people on the steps, putting on their ice skates, making it unclear where we should go to check in. Once we made our way past the steps, we found the check-in table where a young woman, likely in her twenties, greeted us. She was friendly and explained that the ice was a little wet, asking if we still wanted to skate. This was a bit confusing since a "no refunds" sign was posted nearby, leaving me to wonder what would have happened if we had declined. After agreeing to skate, she completed our check-in and directed us to the next line to collect our skates. There were two employees assisting with skates, both appearing to be in their twenties. The first was somewhat friendly, exchanging one pair of shoes for skates, while the second seemed reserved and didn't interact much, almost as if he didn't want to be there. However, this might not have been the case. Since it was our first time at the rink, we weren't sure of the process. We sat down on the steps to put on our skates, like others had when we arrived. The same young woman from earlier immediately raised her voice, asking us to move off the steps and keep our skates on the black mat. While her tone was firm, she wasn't unkind. We complied and moved to the last step, staying on the mat as instructed. As I started taking off my shoes while holding my baby, she again asked me to move so I wouldn't block the entrance. This felt odd, especially since no one cleared the steps when we first arrived. Plus, I wasn't entirely in the way. Once we had our skates on, we grabbed our belongings and headed to the rink. Knowing I couldn't skate while holding my baby, I stayed off the ice while my husband and son skated. As I stood by the wall separating the rink from the viewing area, a staff member approached me and asked me not to lean on the wall because the screws were loose. This surprised me since many skaters (both experienced and inexperienced) were leaning on the same wall without issue. The rink itself was very wet, with over half of it covered in water. Skaters were slipping and falling, getting soaked in the process. This was my son's first time skating, and while he had fun, he fell frequently and ended the night drenched from the waist down. I made a mental note to bring towels and extra clothes should there be a next time. At one point, my son needed to use the restroom, so we asked the staff for directions. The young woman kindly directed us to a nearby hotel and offered to hold our skates for 15 minutes. When we returned, I decided to try skating myself. The experience wasn't bad, but the wet parts of the rink were especially slippery, which could be challenging for beginners. Overall, it was a fun evening for my family, especially my 8-year-old son. However, I don't think we'll return to this rink if the ice remains as wet as it was during this visit. read more

If I could give this business a zero star, I would. They do not offer a refund option whatsoever. They allow and RECOMMEND to purchase your passes ahead of time, but they do not offer a refund or change of date to use these passes. If you even decide to go here, whatever you do, do not purchase ahead. We purchased ahead and unfortunately for us, the date we reserved for became a very rainy day. The place closed due to the weather, and we missed out on using our passes. We emailed them to request a refund for what we thought was a fair reason, and they emailed us back stating that all sales were final. We paid over $80 dollars. I would not recommend coming to this place, it is a waste of money. First off when I got there they don't have your specific shoe size they only have men's, I asked for a 9 in women and they gave me a 9 men. Second, the ice rink is very dangerous it is VERY wet and slippery it wasn't even ice. Third, they don't limit the amount of people that can be on the ice rink so it is very PACKED to the point where you could barely ice skate.. I wish I could get a refund but they don't allow that. I would rather drive to San Jose and go ice skate there! read more

Was expecting to have a good time when coming here, but no. For starters they did not even have correct shoe size for ice skates they did not have a size 9 in women's so they decide to give me a size 9 in men's! All they said to do was to tie it extra tight. Next the ice rink is completely wet full of puddles of water everywhere! Could NOT enjoy our time because it was dangerous they need to atleast clean the rink every once in a while so it does not end up like this! No refunds at all so do not spend your money coming here. read more

I can't say enough good things about this company/ice skating rink and it's staff. My fiancé proposed to me at the rink (actually on the ice) following what I thought was just another fun date. It was magical, Liz and the rest of her team went above and beyond setting up the proposal. Not only did they make this day special for us, but the actual ice skating portion of the proposal was just as much fun! The music was great, the skates were well kept, and the rink was smooth and easy to skate on. We can't wait to return every year to this memorable spot! read more

Some staff at the rink are incredibly unprofessional. We witnessed a rink supervisor berate, yell and humiliate a young man and proceed to remove him from the skating session for no other reason than falling on his behind. Her behavior was completely out of line and no one, especially a child, should ever be subjected to that kind of treatment. We left shortly thereafter and felt the need to let management know of the interaction we witnessed. The young man thanked us profusely for advocating on his behalf. Staff needs to be a trained on how to interact with customers in a respectful manner. read more

Tried calling 3-4 times, and nobody answers the phone. The voicemail says to text the number, so I did, and nobody responds to that either. The smallest size skate they have is a kids' 9. The rink is tiny, and was covered in water while we were there (it pooled across most of the rink). I don't know if this was because the weather was not particularly cold (I don't know what kind of set-up they have for keeping the ice frozen). I'd rather make the drive to San Jose next time, and patronize a legit ice rink. read more

Small rink. Music only in half of ice. Ice not well maintained. They do not limit number if skaters so it is crowded. Not enjoyable.

Great place for family fun. It is a quite small, but it is a great addition to the area's Christmas atmosphere.

This is a great seasonal option for casual skaters. Unfortunately there are always people for whom a little beginner rink isn't good enough. And yes there is the occasional person reliving his college hockey glory days going way to fast. But if you want to take your kids and give them some beginner to intermediate experience on the ice without driving to San Jose it's perfect. The only downside is that it's only open for half of December and January. read more

If I could give this business a rating of zero I would. Last night me and my wife took my younger sister-in-law and her partner to enjoy a fun night on the rink but what we experienced was anything but fun. The management singled out my sister-in-law (who is 14yrs old) and her girlfriend for holding hands and being affectionate teenagers. We were asked to leave while other "straight/hetero normative" couples were free to hold hands, hug, and kiss. But there is more..instead of asking to speak to my wife or myself about the issue they pushed my sister-in-law and her girlfriend off the rink making her cry while other skaters watched. At one point they threatened to call security on the girls who posed no danger to anyone. My wife and myself were on the other side of the rink when this was happening but when we noticed the girls being pushed off the rink we immediately skated over to them. Ultimately we were kicked out and the reason given was the girls were "skating too fast" and holding hands. Such discrimination is shocking in this day and age and I would not recommend this place to anyone who believes in equality for all. read more

Did the other reviewers go to a different ice rink by mistake? Because I personally have had a fabulous time each time I have gone skating here, which amounts to at least five times now. The rink does appear to have periods of high and low volume so I would recommend going during the morning and early afternoon when fewer people are present. You will be more likely to have fresher ice as well. The rink is not big, but it's not feasible to put a larger rink up by the plaza (one of the few available spaces in Monterey for this activity) so the size makes sense. Monterey isn't a large city and lacks the spatial and financial capacity for a San José type of rink with a full zamboni and everything. I recommend to anyone who has complained about poor ice conditions at this rink or who blame other skaters for their unfavorable reviews of this rink to have their current versions of Reality and Logic checked and updated to the latest available versions. read more
