The wings were good, though the sauce was drizzled on rather than fully tossed. Cons:The fries were just okay. Despite staying to enjoy the live music, our wings and fries were served in to-go containers, and we weren't provided plates--expected to eat straight from the boxes, even though plates were clearly available behind the bar. Beer and cider selections were also more limited than expected. Overall: The venue has a great atmosphere, live entertainment, and decent wings, but the limited drink selection and the inconvenience of eating from to-go containers indoors significantly affected the overall experience. $21 for a burger and fries (served in takeout containers with plastic ware) is a little expensive for the location. Those are DC/NYC prices, not VA prices. The burger was decent but the fries were not crispy. $7 beers are also a tad on the pricey side, though my husband liked his saison and my nut brown ale was good. I wasn't a huge fan of the wit beer (my usual go to) as it was a bit bland. Happy hour on Friday from 4-6:30 got us $2 off beers, which was a nice touch (caveat: there were no prices on the beer menu which is my pet peeve and there was no menu/signage about happy hour which was annoying). They have a great outdoor patio area overlooking the water, so the ambience is nice. Wait staff was also super friendly. If you like karaoke, this is the place for you. read more

Excellent music, at any given afternoon or evening is advertised in advance. This past weekend was a local favorite. The band was very good. There was a good crowd. Everyone had a great time. Their food is amazing the flatbread pizzas, the burgers, and the chicken wings all are fairly priced and Very good. Ice House offers several different happenings throughout the month bingo on select Monday nights, next I believe is 31 March. Along with several other events there's a trivia night and several other happenings to keep people entertained and to bring in business, the owners are amazing friendly people, Chuck and Susan. The brewed beers done in house, are a wide variety of choices. They also offer some select red, white wine, and Prosecco. There's a seltzer with different flavoring's that I never knew a brewpub could make, but they are very good And popular The view on the water is amazing with nightly sunsets weather permitting. There's also a lot of outdoor seating and fire pits on cooler evenings. Can't wait for summertime. This will be a lovely spot for summertime fun. Love this cute place, mom (Tracy) and daughter duo so funny and friendly. This place opened in January and almost everything either repurposed or handmade. Place closes at 9/10 p like majority of the area, they have excellent food. Salmon my boyfriend got was perfectly cooked and not dry and the flatbread so cheesy and delicious, Leroy the chef came and asked us how everything was. I did go during lunch and it was slow but they have events almost every night. Only weird thing is parking there is limited but otherwise just see and taste. read more

My husband and I came to Colonial Beach for our Anniversary weekend. Went to every restaurant/bar/winery/brewery we could fit into three days. Ice House by far had the best ambience, service, beer selection, and food selection. They also had trivia nights and live music. Very seldom do you see the owner of an establishment engaging with its customers, but we came here several times and was greeted by the owner multiple times. For food, they partner with Eugene's Sausage and Fries next door, which has a wide selection of brats, hotdogs, sandwiches, and various appetizers. Overall solid beer and food. This place is the place to be in Colonial Beach VA it's a secret to most but I am glad I got in on it! Lol the staff is awesome and place is clean and bands are so awesome my second time there both times were a lot of fun! The band there Friday nite July 24th were so good my hubs thought it was a juke box we were walking to get there and he said that's not the band got to be juke box! I said no that's a band we walked in and couldn't believe it! They were playing So awesome for a two man band! We had a blast craft beers very good so are wines no liquor there just wine & beer! Location is great and the beer was decent--but the food was really terrible. We ordered the crab soup, which the menu said was tomato-based with vegetables. What we got was unseasoned pink water with some chunks of crab and what had to be the frozen mixed vegetables you get from the grocery store (you know the kind: a bag of carrots, peas, and greens beans). Also the service wasn't that great either. We were sympathetic at first that it was a busy night and then being short-staffed, but our patience definitely wore out. It seemed like they were out of a lot of items but the servers didn't or couldn't communicate that to the customers. Plus, they brought the food in closed to-go containers and then disappeared immediately--so you didn't even see what they brought you until it was too late to ask questions or ask for something missing, etc. We ordered the salmon entree, which was supposed to come with mashed potatoes and asparagus. We got a piece of fish (which was good, to be fair) and some fries. This entree was $18 on the menu, and you can't tell me a hunk of fish and a handful of fries is $18 worth of food. When we asked for the asparagus it took another 20 minutes and we had to leave. All in all I would only come back for just beer and the view. read more

My family discovered the Icehouse Brewery by chance while visiting Colonial Beach for a family reunion. We decided to give it a try and we are sure glad we did. In fact, we loved it and decided to head back the following night for dinner again! The food was tasty - mainly sandwiches and hot dogs and the beer was ice cold and really hit the spot. We've been coming here for two years, and they keep getting better and better. My first review back then was a 3 because of their poor management of large, unruly parties. The staff didn't seem to know how to handle and allowed the bad behavior to ruin an otherwise nice day. But over the last 18 months, everyone seems to have mellowed out. The burgers were missing bacon and barbecue sauce and the cheese was not pepper Jack. Burger itself was good but flavorless. The tacos came with only 2 shrimp each and were not blackened. The chicken tacos were not jerk seasoned. The hush puppies were served with a weird pink sauce, not honey butter. The beer cheese was coagulated and was very sweet. Ice house brewery is a wonderful addition to colonial beach. Beer is very good.. try the saison beer excellent. Also offers good restuarant and offers not only appetizers but also full meal. Their 14 oz prime rib was wonderful . They have three options fir seating. Either the restaurant up front. Rear brewery and tap room or u can sit out and over look the creek or even park your boat and hop up for dinner. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. When we arrived, most people were only here for trivia and drinks. My party ordered food and it took over an hour to make it to the table. When it arrived half of the meals were incorrect. The location is great and the beers here are delicious so I was really hopeful for our meal - boy was I disappointed. My steamed shrimp were wayyyy overcooked. The buffalo chicken egg rolls were over fried/burned. While the hush puppies were pretty tasty, they did not come out as hot as the other food (just under room temp in fact) and they were out of the honey butter they come with - honey butter is super easy to make so why not just do the extra work instead of serving something sub par. Also they didn't tell me they were out until it was served. So come here and enjoy the atmosphere and the beers but avoid the food.
