Tried Flamingo for ice cream near Moore Lake…read more The service was prompt and very polite. The ice cream seemed to have a low cream ratio as there were ice chunks in the ice cream flavors that we tried and very prevalent in the vanilla. The portions were very disappointing as we each requested a flight of three scoops for $6.25 for a flight. The scoops were so small that they were truly a taster amount. As can be seen in one of the photos, an entire scoop of ice cream fit on a plastic spoon. I was excited to try the unique flavors offered but the quality and pricing/serving size takes Flamingo off my list of go to ice cream shops.

They took what Grandpa's did, ran with it, and took it to a whole new level. And they're still one of a handful of places in the Twin Cities that actually makes their own ice cream. You really can't beat that for flavor and quality. All of the ice cream (and sorbet) is made in house with a small creamery in the back kitchen. They have a LOT of flavors, many of which are unique and one-of-a-kind. And they're constantly coming up with new varieties. In addition, they sell cookies, chocolates, and candies. They have beverages too. Not only does Flamingos have way more yummy choices than Grandpa's, their hours are longer, they're open more days of the week, and they're open way more days of the year. Stop in a check out Flamingos! Thumbs up! -Maxx

I didn't know what to expect and I originally thought that the dessert I wanted to try was a doughnut. It was not - more of a harder pastry. It is filled with two scoops of ice cream - priced at about $14. Personally, I think it's a little overpriced for what you get. The pastry itself was cruncher than I thought and it tasted a little burnt - and for that price I would hope for more than two small scoops of ice cream. When my friend and I went in, we were the only customers - around 9 o'clock when they close at 10. The employee was friendly enough and confirmed the dessert we were interested in was definitely not a donut. We were really confused when we place our orders and he went to the janitor closet/room in the back for about 10 minutes and came out with the pastry and then put it in a small oven or some sort. We noticed he was wearing gloves but he was using his phone which really defeats the purpose of using gloves. I'd feel more confident that our food wasn't being contaminated if fresh gloves were being used. I'm sure it could be some people's go to, but I think it's just not my type of dessert - although, I did enjoy the ice cream.

I tried several items here - Pistachio Chimney Cake, lotus biscoff kanafeh, pistachio crepe, and waffle with fruit and chocolate sauce. We also had a small baklava bite and Turkish coffee. All the desserts were so delicious, creamy, and sweet ! The ice cream in the Chimney Cake had great flavor too. My favorite items were the chimney cake crepe, and baklava. The Turkish coffee was very strong for my taste but I'm usually not a fan of black coffee overall. I think next time I'll have to try the iced lattes. Service was good - the staff member gave some suggestions and gave me a heads up of how long some items would take. I liked that we got a warning since the crepe took about 20 mins but it was sooo worth the wait. The napkins are small and utensils are kind of flimsy so they are hard to use to cut more dense items like the waffle or chimney cake, but they worked to cut the crepe. I would bring some Wet Ones / larger napkins since there isn't a sink available for customer use and eating the desserts can get a bit messy.
