We had a great time! First and foremost dress for the weather and most definitely wear snow boots. The ground is icy and slushy and uneven. I even suggest wool socks to keep your toes warm. Snow pants are also ideal too if have them. We went at 4:30pm so we got to see the ice castles both during the day and at night as the sun went down around 5:45/6pm. By 6pm it was getting very crowded and hard to walk through but it was so fun seeing it all lit up. We did the sleigh ride. Our driver was excellent! He was very informative and told funny jokes. I forgot his name but he made the freezing cold sleigh ride a lot more fun! I didn't realize that the sleigh ride had lights throughout so we barely got to see those since it was still light out. But it was still neat. We paid for the souvenir photo and you get one printed out, and the others emailed to you. They have a small gift shop at the end and to be honest I wish they had one at the front selling the hand warmers because I would have bought some! But having them available for purchase at the end wasn't helpful in my opinion. They had a small stand for hot cocoa and bite sized goodies to snack on, but because it was the only place to purchase the lines were awfully long. I would suggest opening another food truck up or something to encourage more people to purchase. I would have loved a hot cocoa to stay warm. They had a few small propane fire pits throughout to stand and warm up. They had a few ice slides for the kids to go on and one for adults too. That was neat. There were several ice tunnels to walk through and they get crowded. It would be nice if they had them going one way routes because they tended to get backed up with people trying to get through in the opposite direction. There were ice sculptures like a unicorn and a throne. There are trivial facts throughout that inform you of how the ice castles are made, how many artisans it takes to make them, how many pounds of ice, etc. Overall we really enjoyed the experience. I've wanted to go to the Ice Castles for years and so glad I finally did! My boyfriend and I went on an off-peak day and it was totally worth it. There were pretty much no lines and the amount of people there and parking was super manageable. Be sure to bundle up and wear good shoes with traction. This was such a fun little experience! I would recommend trying to get a ticket for the time slot about 30 mins before sunset (around 5pm). Also, try to go during the week (Monday - Thursday) to get cheaper ticket prices! Their website says there may be walk-up tickets available, but the best prices and guaranteed entry come from purchasing online ahead of time. The attraction opens at 4, so it wasn't too crowded at the beginning of our time slot (5pm). As time went on, we were able to see the ice castles during the day and when they got lit up after sunset, which was pretty cool! It does get pretty crowded as you get into the evening, and this is not somewhere to be if you are not fond of little kids; there were several crying babies and little kids running around. If you want to do the sleigh ride, it's an extra $14. Parking was also a little crazy on the way out after finishing up, so be careful. Also, if you are not a fan of being in strangers' photos, this may not be the place. Tripods aren't allowed in, but several people had DSLR cameras and many people had their phones out. read more

We had a lot of fun here today! We planned accordingly and wore Snow pants and snow boots and coats and gloves, I highly recommend the same. I saw people in tennis shoes and crocks, no way!! You need the gear to go down the slides made of ice and to triage in the snow. We got our workout in for sure. I'd plan for 30-40 minutes. It was a cute experience. I think it's more so good if you're a family with kids, as they get to run around and play in the different caves. My husband and I did one quick walk through, took a couple of pictures and were ready to go. It was nice and the price wasn't crazy for what it was. I would say... would I do it again? It was crowded and there were a bunch of people who were taking senior pictures or they were influencers and they were blocking the entrances to some of the castles. We traveled from San Diego for the ice castles and enjoyed it. Initially from the parking lot, they looked smaller than in photos however once you're inside they do feel taller than they appear from far away. It seems like it was a warmer year, as some of the caves had started to melt but you cannot predict what will happen with nature. They were very pretty and it was beautiful to see all of the castles and details and go down the slide. I wish there were more lights as advertised but it was still pretty. We arrived around 4:45 and saw them during daylight, then did a 5:30 sleigh ride and walked around one more time at night. I would probably skip the sleigh ride as there was t much to see however it was a long ride for the cost if that's something you enjoy. They also sold hot cocoa and had clean porta-potties which made for an overall nice experience. Would recommend snow pants if you plan to go down the slides. Soldier Hollow also has tubing until 4:30pm so if you want to make the most of everything you could go tubing at some point before or after your reservation as it is literally next door up the hill. read more

It was a freezing cold evening but we had so much fun and stayed for about an hour and a half. The kids could've stayed probably another hour playing on the slides and walking through the caves. What a wonderful experience! I came here twice: morning and evening on different days of course. The first time I came here was extremely busy because someone posted online hoax that Elsa from Frozen was going to be there opening day and unfortunately, she was nowhere to be found. The second time was in the evening had all the bright lights and a fire show. Although there were tons of kids/Elsas running around, I prefer the daytime views than the light shows at night. You can see more of the detail in the ice structures, you get better lighting for pictures, and the best part is that it's also warmer! Night time, it's extremely cold. It was 14 degrees when I went at 9pm and I felt like an ice sculpture. The changing color of lights are pretty awesome and silhouettes are cool but it's not worth the cold! I got a little bit of ice in my socks and my feet became wet making it even mire cold! Highly recommend snow boots. I had on waterproof hiking boots, but all the ice/snow you pick up just walking around will still get in your socks. There's cool ice chairs, slippery slides, and little tunnels to walk through. Really cool experience if you're coming here for the first time. The lines for the slides may be about 10-15 minute wait, but those 15 seconds are so worth it! Loved this Ice Castle at night. I ordered timed tickets on line, but many people walked up to the ticket windows. It's for families of all ages. My young adult sons came and enjoyed it since we were on vacation. The castle is pretty with colored lights, and it's fun to look for hidden things. We went down the slides and took pictures. Wear snow pants and boots. It's cold, and you need them. The snowy sand-like ground could be difficult to walk on if someone had a balance problem. Parking is free. Saw this many years ago and I wanted to come so bad. So what did I do? I booked a trip to SLC and went to see the ice castles. They are located in midway and I get it, it's weather dependent. The castles itself are not that big in height. Customer service? Non existent. I tried changing my reservation and their email service doesn't work. It's like a circus when you arrive. Literally 100s of kids running around and not at all safe. The castle isn't that big circumference wise either, and the lines for the slide? Easily 20 mins. Workers don't care. Horrible! they sold me tickets online for my birthday in December and then I drove 5 hours to the Utah location for my birthday to discover they weren't operational. then they told me my ticket was for January! I do recommend the ice castles, but we had a pretty major issue with communication/tickets/staff. When we entered, the person taking our tickets Saif we had to buy carriage tickets as we entered - right then - if we wanted them. We checked twice, as this was pretty problematic for a group including someone with a mobility disability and a neuro atypical child. We would have no idea if we would realistically be able to handle the carriage after the whole thing, but he repeated that we had to decide right then so we bought tickets. One ticket fell out of a pocket, but we figured it wouldn't be a problem because we had the receipt. Then we get to the end, and we had to walk through the ticket line again...so...we could have decided to buy tickets after, and it would have been just as easy and way less risky. Turns out that is *really important* to know not just this for a group like ours, but also that sometimes the carriage takes a break for the horses welfare. So the carriage was not running when we were able to go. We were of course unable to wait and see when it would run again, given our group limitations, and they would not refund the missing ticket despite the receipt. So the while thing was a pretty big disaster that ended in a lot of tears and difficulty despite how fun the actual ice castles were. Hope this helps someone else. read more

What a fun experience especially at night. They say crowds were limited due to the pandemic which is why no walk up tickets were available and you had to schedule a time to arrive. You could add on a sleigh ride. Ours unfortunately got canceled so that was a bummer. Also they have a coffee stand inside that sells warm drinks such as cappuccinos and hot cocoa. They even sell churros with chocolate or caramel for dipping. Kind of a once in a lifetime thing since we drove from Montana. Would I go every year? No. If I lived closer and had kids then I would probably attend regularly. Was it worth a 7 hr drive??? Not really, but we can say we have seen it.That is just my personal opinion. read more

The website is all about 6' distance, mask wearing, etc. etc. but the truth of the matter is they let everyone in with no guidance or guidelines and let the masses run free (kids especially). Once there, folks can stay as long as they want, making a huge mass of people packed in. The kids' slide or "Covid slide" as my family calls it - is especially concerning. This place is one of the most disorganized places I have ever been to, we paid for the entrance, sleigh ride, and personal photo. They had two sleighs running and they did not stagger the sleighs, so you very well could be waiting 30+ minutes for the ride, both sleighs came back and the sleighs filled up so we would've had to wait another 30 minutes to get on them, the entrance line was the same as the exit line, so people getting off the ride were walking through bumping into the people waiting, we finally just gave up and left, it was absolute waste of money read more

First of all, the address on Yelp is 3 years old. It's actually located in Homestead Resort. 5 miles away from the address on Yelp. This really is a place for kids. I have grandkids that are too old for this place. The ice walls were well done but there is little variety in the look and feel. The senior price was $12 each. We waited for 10 minutes to get in and spent 15 minutes and left. It was a total waste of money and time. If you have kids you might like it. read more

Almost 2 hours to go through the line with pre-purchased tickets and struggle to walk anywhere on 6+ inch deep ice chunks and all but maybe 2% of children are completely unaccompanied by their adults. The number of children out of control made the experience even worse as they were throwing ice and running around into people almost knocking them down when it was already hard to stand or walk in the first place without having someone's kids cause you to fall down. If the people in charge of the event aren't going to make people keep their children under control, they should have kid-free and kid-friendly days separately from each other. I didn't pay over 20$ for hiking in calf-deep ice or to get knocked down into the ice ground covering. If I would have known that this was going to be like that, I would have never gone. There were two "slides" that were both shorter than a park playground slide in length and the sliding was by being pushed to start moving and not gravity. read more
