Really enjoyed visiting this library! As a guest at the Civic Hotel across the way, I wanted a…read morequick place to study for my licensing exam and decided to make the short walk over. The library itself, is quite beautiful inside with lots of natural light pouring into the unique architecture. Just had to walk around a while to enjoy the picturesque building. The library staff was friendly and very helpful in helping me with all of my questions. Lots of desk/table space and electrical outlets everywhere. Overall a great library to visit.

I live in downtown Vancouver and use this Library often because it often has books which I can't…read morefind in Vancouver. Love the interior design and spacious lay out. The main complaints I have are two. First I was stopped by an Indian Security and he asked if I had a mask. I was wearing a face covering and he said it was UNAPPROVED. Approved by whom? By what? I don't like this blue masks which are laced with carcinogenic ingredients and my own cloth material covering is clean and I don't want to breathe in anything that is harmful. He insisted I used the mask he gave me. Nothing but playing power trip. NOT IMPRESSED. I got an email notification about a video to pick up but when I showed up it was no where be found on the shelf under the initial of my last name. While I did get help from one of the counter staff and I told her perhaps someone just took the video and watched it inside the Library etc. This happens a lot in Vancouver Main Library as well. No, she offered to cancel my video and then put me back on ordering. But she did not place me on the next in the queue but back at the end of the waiting list. I waited weeks for this title now have to wait again. Poor management. Trust me IF I can find the same item in downtown I wouldn't bother to have to take 2 buses to Surrey!

City of New Westminster - Shops + restaurants @ New Westminster Skytrain Station

    City of New Westminster

The City of New Westminster is one of BC's oldest cities…read more Built up from the banks of the Fraser River, it has grown rapidly of late via major updates - new buildings, transportation, waterfront park & the Anvil arts centre. Many years ago one would have avoided coming here! It felt old, tired, sad & it was! Not today! Thriving & bustling with great restaurants, summer activities on the Pier et cetera. 'New West' as it is affectionately known as, has become a must place to check out & hang out at! Check out Fratelli Bakery, Piva Italian Restaurant & El Santo for great eats!!! Now I won't lie, the New West Skytrain Station can bring about some intresting 'characters' but if you simply avoid the drama & continue about your way - you'll be just fine! Take a walk along Colombia Street & see the old buildings, multiple bridal shops (Columbia St - aka Bridal Row) & great views of the Fraser River & beyond. A must - go to 4th Street - turn towards the river & head across the new overpass! Please note - this new overpass bridge you see in the pics was launched to the press as the - 'Sixth Street Overpass.' It is not on 6th Street - it is on 4th Street! I'm assuming it will be renamed!? The new Westminster Pier Park will be a hit with kids as well. Plenty of ongoing construction occurring & I can't wait to see how it turns out! The River Market offers eateries & shopping but I found myself not bothering to go inside for a peek, on this beautiful sunny afternoon! I loved just being outside & taking it all in! New Westminster keep doing what you're doing - bravo!!!!!

Fun fact was a set of a few movie productions guess that really sells the place just make a movie set and it's done. Have also some nice restaurants being the Asian scene the biggest one around here. There is also a nice looking pub. But it's also a centre of learning we have Douglas College a nice looking place to study if it wasn't for the steep street one need to walk to get there. It's a city to be explored sure we don't have any steam clock like Vancouver or any big mall like Metrotown in Burnaby but non the less there is some particular beauty in new west smallness. It's also a great location to escape the big city claustrophoby. Suburbs it's not a bad word when you only have to do it's explore to find that there are many hidden gems away from the crowds and big city live.
