If you are looking for a client-centered, empathetic, and reliable "always-in-your-corner"…read morepsychologist / therapist, Dr. Blue is just that (and more). I've been seeing Dr. Blue since 2020 and reached out to him during the latter of 2019. It started as weekly, transitioned to bi-weekly sessions, and finally tapered off to monthly sessions. My mental health has improved since the introduction of Dr. Blue, and he's helped me get through some pretty difficult chapters of my life. He has incredible compassion, is knowledgeable, and is insightful with decades of experience. Dr. Blue is patient and optimistic yet realistic. He seeks deeper connections and is constantly looking to change as you need and while you experience setbacks and moments of growth. His office also accepts a wide variety of insurances (i.e. UnitedHealthcare). Therapy often has a social stigma that you're considered "broken" after experiencing a setback; it doesn't have to be that way. Having a healthy mindset is helpful in one's life and the choices we make. Having Dr. Blue in your corner is the first step to healing. I cannot even describe how much he has encouraged, challenged, and helped me. He is someone who creates a wonderfully safe and therapeutic space where I feel comfortable and able to be vulnerable. Dr. Blue is a therapist who makes a difference in the lives of clients fortunate enough to work with him!

Dr. Aguirre helped me tremendously during a difficult period of my life where I was feeling overwhelmed by multiple responsibilities, hopeless about my relationships and grappling with existential concerns regarding my career and life. She was compassionate, understanding, nonjudgmental, and very supportive. However, she was also direct and appropriately challenged me and encouraged to look at things about myself and my past that I had been avoiding for years. Her Insight-oriented approach helped me understand and make meaning of my experience and my relationships so that I can make lasting, changes in my life. I feel so many other therapists just help you find Band-Aids for your pain and suffering, But I feel Dr. Aguirre helps you get to the root of the problem. As a result of our work, my self-esteem and self-confidence have greatly improved. I have much more satisfying relationships in my life--where there is mutual trust and vulnerability. I can't thank Sophia enough for her patience, support and wisdom.

Dr. Aguirre has helped me so much in a short time: she has helped me recognize where my issues stem from, unhealthy ways of coping, and ways to get a hold of my anxiety and move forward in a positive and promising direction when it comes to starting a new relationship while really learning from the mistakes I've made in past relationships. I always look forward to sharing my highs and lows with Dr. Aguirre and getting her insight on things I'm thinking about and trying to work through. Also, her office is hip, stylish, comfy and felt peaceful.

I wish I could give this establishment along with their practices & ethics & purpose 10 stars if…read morethat were possible. I won't go into details, but I went through a very traumatic experience (involving family) while visiting in California this past year and I basically just shut down, lost a lot of hope and felt as though I was hanging from a thread. I have never really had to deal with loss in my life and everyone handles things differently, some better than others. This lasted for several months (putting it mildly) and I was just lost and unable to process certain events and REALLY move forward. And I do not have any family out here in Georgia, so I live simply and frugally and at the same time I am a free-spirited loner, -if that makes any sense, -so I don't really have anyone to open up to & at the same time it's not really my style to burden others with things I'm going through. So, I'm writing this review and giving this information because the least I can do is give back a little something (hopefully) and maybe my experience & progress (that is still ongoing) will speak to or help even one person that needs or could benefit from counseling. This counsel comes from a qualified Emory resident who is a step away from being a licensed in the state of GA psychologist and will soon be going into their own practice. Not only do they help you, but everything is also reviewed confidentially by their mentor/professor as well. And their mentor can give them input and direction regarding each individuals' recovery and what might work best, etc. etc. You get two for the price of one, the best of both worlds! These resident psychologists are second to none due to being so new, passionate, eager & genuinely want to help you in anyway that works in your best interest. My counseling is in its third month now and I feel like I was saved. I am forever grateful for my psychologist who is full of compassion, completely nonjudgmental, honest, rational, caring, and the list goes on and on. You simply cannot put a price on having peace of mind and being able to sleep at night and waking up feeling like you have a purpose. And it's never too late, no matter how old you are. But what about the cost? Yes, therapy is known to be pretty darn expensive and that's just one of the several reasons why I was so interested in the services offered by Emory University. A friend mentioned some details to me and said they do offer low cost counseling. So, after doing some research and making some phone calls, giving some phone interviews, etc. etc. -I was accepted and about a month later I was sitting face-to-face with my first therapist ever. And my progress has been phenomenal. This facility is on the fifth floor, does not accept insurance or credit cards and will work with you on a sliding scale. It's pretty amazing and I probably get about four sessions for the price of one. There is so much more I could say but my words can't come close to conveying what a godsend Emory Psychological Center on Eagle Row has been for me. Eternally grateful.
