We stayed at the Hotel ibis Dublin, and there was some confusion when we went to check in. We had booked through Travelocity, and the desk attendant insisted that we needed to pay now that we had arrived. I was pretty confident that all of our hotels for the trip had been prepaid, but after explaining this to her, I just went along with it. After we got to our room, I got on the Wi-Fi to check our credit card, and of course we had already paid. It was no big deal to go back to the front desk and have our account credited. Terrible terrible terrible. I think my terrible experience started when I finally realized that the hotel is located very far from the city center. We were instructed to take the tram to the hotel and walk across an overpass through the ghetto-ist parts of Dublin. We check in and order some beer, caprese salad and Guinness Stew. I must point out that the staff is pretty depressing, no energy, no smiles...just sad. I get it...we are in the middle of no where and we are stuck with eachother for the night...sheesh. The Guiness stew and caprese were both very tasty. We spent much of the evening relaxing in the lobby and speaking with some locals. The room was simple but, clean. I slept well but, couldnt wait to return to the city centre to do more exploring. At check out (I checked out one day earlier than expected but, was told I could at no cost to me), the Front Desk Agent, Blanca, was not very friendly. She told me that the room cost was nonrefundable and there was nothing she could do. Period. I was able to reach out to Management and after several email exchanges, they informed me that my rate was refundable for the early check out. I'm a travel agent and I never had to work that hard to get my money back when I was correct the entire time. Save yourself the trouble and spend a bit more money and stay in the Dublin City Centre. read more

I pity the fools that come to Dublin and have booked into the Ibis, duped by the claim on their website that the hotel is "a great location for city breaks with easy access to the O2 Theatre, Temple Bar, and the Airport. Can you imagine coming to Dublin for a weekend break, and staying on the Red Cow Roundabout? The location couldn't be worse, as this particular roundabout holds claim to being the busiest traffic junction in the whole country, connecting the M50 motorway with the N7 Naas Road. The hotel itself is rather pukey - the colour scheme is red, pink and green (barf), the finishings are fairly tacky, and the overall decor feels rather like you never left the airport at all. The one and only thing going for it is the Luas stop outside, which will bring you right to O'Connell Street. read more

We ate in the restaurant and ordered soup and the special, which was chicken breast in mushroom sauce with vegetables and chips. The soup tasted like it was made from a packet. It was too salty, thick, and a bit lumpy (like when you buy powdered soup but don't add enough water). The chicken breast was tasty but the vegetables also looked like they were from a packet and not prepared fresh on site. Better value can be found elsewhere. read more

This was on the IBIS hotels website when I tried to use them to book the room it brought me to a 3rd party booking service, which I typically do not use since dealing direct with the hotel is always better. The Hotelsone or Hotel.com website had incomplete phone numbers to contact them or the hotel IBIS. It also locked up repeatedly the day I was trying to cancel my reservation to avoid a one nights penalty charge. On my Ipad and PC it wouldn't work. I let IBIS know by phone and email that I couldn't get their website to work and to cancel my reservation but they did not want to help since it wasn't their own website. The booking website admitted their site wasnt working properly but would not refund me the penalty charge rather they tried to ask IBIS not to charge me, unsuccessfully. Unbelievable lack of customer service. I highly discourage anyone from using the above booking sites and or ever using the IBIS hotel chain. They are more concerned with charging me a penalty one nights stay than creating a customer relationship with me that would have resulted in me spending a lot more in the future. read more

I had an ok experience here. Pros - close to the tram which you can take right into the city center. Pretty convenient location if you're looking to go there. Also not too far from the airport. - Has a USB port which is helpful when you're from out of the country. - The front desk woman let us check in very early (like 9am early). That was great, because we had just come off of a 6.5 hour overnight flight with a 9 month old baby and were exhausted. - Most of the staff are great. Cons - The beds are extremely uncomfortable -you get one pillow each (only 2 pillows on bed), and they're very thin. -Some of the staff need to be re-trained. This one girl didn't know anything when we asked her questions, and constantly used the excuse that she was "new" and "it was her first day". Yes, she told us it was her first day twice. When we called her out on it she stuttered and didn't know what to say. Basically the staff (night time wait staff) really needs some training. -Our room attendant never refilled our soap container. This wasn't a huge deal as we had our own soap, but last time I checked the housekeeper was supposed to do that. - When we checked out the front desk lady (Not the same woman who checked us in. She was an older woman and was great. This one was younger.) didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. First she told us she needed to charge us. When my husband explained to her that he prepaid for the room she said she she needed to charge "Expedia". We didn't use Expedia but w/e as long as we weren't getting charged again idc. I just don't understand why we had to wait there with our baby and luggage for 10 mins while she did it. Next my husband asked to grab a coffee to go. She gave him two cups, and told him to keep both (only needed one, because it was only him having coffee). Then charged us for both cups of coffee! He only wanted one to begin with, and only wanted it because we were stuck waiting for her to figure out how to charge Expedia. Overall my experience was OK. I'd stay here again, mostly because we got a room at last minute for pretty cheap. I just really think some of the staff needs to be re-trained a lot. read more

This place is the WORST hotel I've ever stayed in. And they are thieves, they illegally obtained our bank info and took almost $1000 from our bank account months after we left. We never gave them our info (it was a corporate stay), we never received a bill or agreed to pay anything. The staff is awful, and rude, the cleaning staff is inept (do you think we want to keep our old breakfast tray all day?). Just avoid. read more

Found the rooms to be okay the bathroom was not great plus there are no balconeys. They are very cheap for what they offer the rooms had free wi-fi and a nice enough bed. There was very loud music being played till all hours of the morning and didn't seem to be any staff doing anything about it which was very annoying. Food seemed very over prices for what you got but still all hotels are like that. read more

I just returned from a five night stay at the Ibis Dublin. The hotel is located outside of the city center, but is within a 10 minute walk of the Luas Tram line which will take you into the city. The rooms need an update, but have comfortable beds, flat screen tv, free wifi, coffee and tea making facilities. The bathroom was clean and tidy. Great shower power also. The hotel offers a very nice buffet breakfast in the morning for nine euros. There is a very good variety of foods, something for everyone's taste. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I did have a problem and it was addressed and taken care of. Customer service seems to be very important to them, and their assistance with my problem was greatly appreciated. Nothing special. We stayed here because we decided to come back to Dublin a night early at the tail end of our trip. We had seen the advertised sign on the front of the hotel for 49 euro, so we booked it for one night. The location was ok. Not too far of a hike over the walking bridge to the LUAS. But definitely a cab ride back if you stay in the city past tram times. And that will run you about 18-25 euro depending on the driver. The only real complaint I had about the Ibis was the cleanliness of our room's bathroom. I went to shower and noticed the water was not draining at all. So I pulled up the trap and saw the most disgusting collection of hair and grime I have ever seen. Looked like they had not cleaned it in a month, yuck! Otherwise everything was about average. Oh- they did have a very pretty and very friendly bartender that worked one night. I think her name was something like Katarazhena or something equally hard to pronounce. 3 Bikes stolen off the back of our car after hotel wouldn't allow us to put them inside and people sleeping were in camper vans outside. Through the night you could hear people speeding around the car park, most likely the thieves who stole our bikes. Hotel situated really far out from the city as well although there is a park and ride. The hotel is situated right next to a motorway as well so you're not getting a quiet nights sleep that much is for sure. Redeemable qualities, room was clean and nice modern bathroom but the whole ordeal really ruined our stay. read more

Very much a frills free hotel but found it nice to stay in. The morning breakfast has an exceptional spread and rooms are very comfortable with friendly staff. It is great for the luas across the road. Downside was the fact they didn't have plasters for a cut I had? Did they not have a first aid kit? And there is no nearby newsagents I could I see. read more
